Policy and Procedures for Students and Associate Members Under 18 years of age Bangor University Students Union recognises that some Bangor University students may be under the age of 18 years when they start their course. These students and their families should understand that Bangor University and Bangor University Students’ Union is an adult environment and all those taking part in Student Union activities are expected to assume an adult level of responsibility and have the necessary skills to take part in Students’ Union activities independently. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that their parent(s)/guardian(s) understand this assumption and to request additional support if required. The Students’ Union will generate a report from our Membership Services system to identify which students are under 18 and this will be communicated to the relevant Union activity leader. Student activity leaders will also notify Bangor Students Union in writing if any individual Under 18 attends any group activities. All associate membership registration is processed through our membership services system and this will notify staff and the relevant Union activity leader of any individuals under 18. Bangor University Students’ Union may open some of its activities to students from other Higher Education or Further Education institutions that are under the age of 18. These students will be required to join the Students’ Union as Associate Members (see 1.6 for more information). Members under the age of 18 will be subject to Bangor University Students’ Union policies and procedures and will be able to access the majority of its activities subject to the provisions of this policy and an individual written authorisation including any specific conditions of participation granted by the relevant Department Manager. Any conditions will be identified and agreed upon an individual basis. 1.1
