ACTIVE DUTY & VETERAN SERVICE MEMBERS If you are active duty, a veteran, a reservist or a member of the National Guard, provide a copy of your military ID or DD-214 and application fees are waived. If you have completed three or more years of active duty service, you will be considered a transfer student for admission purposes. You must request and provide us a Joint Services Transcript.

OFF-CAMPUS PROGRAM LOCATIONS

For active duty military, the high school transcript requirement is waived if: • the student holds an AA or AS degree; or • the student is at least 21 years of age; or • the student has completed at least 24 semester hours of college-level transferable work from a regionally accredited institution with a 2.0 or higher transfer GPA.

COMPREHENSIVE ARTICULATION AGREEMENT UNCP is an active participant in the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation (CAA) agreement. A minimum grade of “C” is required for all transfer coursework. In addition to the CAA, students must take a minimum of nine (9) hours of writing intensive courses and must complete the remainder of UNCP’s General Education Requirement. A minimum of 25% of the semester hours needed for each degree must be completed in residence at UNCP. North Carolina Community College transfer students, entering UNCP spring 2021, summer 2021 and fall 2021, who have earned an AA or AS degree meeting the requirements of the CAA will receive a waiver of General Education requirements with the exception of PE.

FORMER UNCP STUDENTS Students who have interrupted their course of study for at least two consecutive semesters must apply for readmission through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students who are seeking readmission to UNCP after completing additional work at another regionally accredited institution must reapply through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. SPECIAL-ADMIT STUDENTS Persons applying for admission as Special-Admit Students fall in one of the following categories: Enrichment, Teacher Licensure/ Renewal, Second Degree, Transient or Joint Enrolled.  Enrichment: Applicants not enrolled in a degree program at another institution who wish to complete courses at UNCP for personal or professional enrichment may qualify for admission as Special-Admit Students. Teacher Licensure/Renewal: Individuals who have a baccalaureate degree may be admitted to earn teacher licensure or take courses for renewal purposes. Second Degree: Applicants who wish to enroll at the university to complete a second undergraduate degree. Transient: Transient students are students enrolled in a degree program at another college or university who qualify to study for one semester or summer session at UNCP and plan to transfer credits earned back to the institution at which they are pursuing a degree. Joint Enrolled: The Joint Enrollment Program is designed for high school students who have excelled academically in high school and prove ready for college-level work.

TRANSFER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE All students under the age of 21 by the time of enrollment are required to have passed the following high school classes.

ENGLISH-4 UNITS MATHEMATICS-4 UNITS Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and a math beyond Algebra II SCIENCE-3 UNITS Biological Science, Laboratory Science and Physical Science SOCIAL STUDIES-2 UNITS 1 unit must be U.S. History FOREIGN LANGUAGE-2 UNITS Both units must be same language Students who did not take/pass all of these high school classes are required to complete 24 transferable semester hours from a regionally accredited institution with an overall GPA of 2.0. Students are required to meet freshman high school GPA requirements for admission (please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for appropriate GPA requirements). If a student is only deficient in one area (GPA), they may complete 12 transferable semester hours of general education from a regionally accredited institution with an overall GPA of 2.5. Students must meet a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA for all college courses as calculated by the UNCP Undergraduate Admissions Office.

TRANSFER OF CREDIT UNCP does not have a maximum number of allowable transfer hours; however, students must complete 25% of their desired degree program at UNCP. UNCP will accept a credit earned at another institution with a grade of a “C” or better if the coursework is comparable to courses at UNCP. Please note, grades below a “C” (including a “C-”) are not transferable. For more information on transfer of credit, AP, IB, CLEP or Dantes Subject standardized Tests, visit uncp.edu/transfer.

CREDIT BY EXAMINATION Students are encouraged to take advantage of credit-by-examination opportunities offered through AP, CLEP, and IB Subject Standardized Tests. UNCP will award academic credit to students who achieve acceptable scores on those examinations determined to have a UNCP course equivalent.

ONLINE UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAMS Criminal Justice, B.A. UNCP’s criminal justice program is to provide students with a thorough understanding of the social organization and administration of the criminal justice system. Courses are offered in theories of crime and delinquency, law enforcement, the courts, corrections and administration. Sociology, B.A. Sociologists seek to understand and study the social world and how human beings come to think and act as they do. Sociology majors develop an understanding of how society is developed out of intricate patterns of human social organization, learn to create and use scientific tools of analysis and practice the application of scientific knowledge to the analysis of social problems and the transformation of society. Interdisciplinary Studies, B.I.S. The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program is exclusively designed for learners with at least two years of transferable credit, who hold either an associate in applied arts or associate in applied science degree. The program serves adult students, in particular, who seek a broad, more flexible degree program to help them to advance or become more established in their careers or to improve their understanding of the world around them. Students can choose between a variety of majors including: applied education studies, applied professional studies, applied information technology, criminal justice, general studies and public and non-profit administration. Business Administration, B.S. UNCP’s School of Business offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as an online degree completion program with concentrations in economics, finance, management and marketing. The School of Business is accredited by the Association for Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Build your scholarship profile. Most of your information is automatically transferred into your profile from your future Brave ASSIST application.

Get matched to scholarships. Once your profile is built, you will immediately be matched with scholarships you’re eligible for. Then you decide which you want to apply for.

TRANSFER STUDENT RESOURCES UNCP has partnered with community colleges and junior colleges to create articulation agreements to ease transfer into certain degree programs. Articulation Agreements are officially approved guides that outline how coursework taken at a community college or junior college transfers to UNCP. They are intended to promote smooth transitions for students. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement established at the University of North Carolina System-level governs the specific transfer of courses/programs between the North Carolina Community Colleges and constituent institutions of UNCP.
