Congratulations on making it through 2025! This has been a year with many ups, downs, and unexpected turns, yet the department has persevered. Our resilience is in no small part due to the dedication of each member of our community—from current faculty, staff, and students to alumni. We are delighted to celebrate and share our stories with the 2025 UNC Chemistry Alumni Magazine.
In this edition, we highlight major accomplishments of the department, including a list of 2025 faculty awards and feature articles that showcase the breadth and impact of Carolina Chemistry. These include stories on a UNC chemist partnering with a startup to combat national drug trafficking, a fresh approach to chemistry education through an Atoms First textbook, students turning pigments into tools for art preservation, and new insights into “forever chemicals.”
