BEFORE YOUR
FIRST DAY
Create an ONYEN (Only Name You'll Ever Need)
All UNC employees are required to establish an ONYEN This serves as your email alias (ONYEN@email unc edu) as well as your username for most campus systems. Visit https://its.unc.edu/onyen-services/ and select “Create or Manage ONYEN” to create your ONYEN and password.
Send ONYEN to HR Business Partner and Manager
Once you have created your ONYEN, please send it to your HR Business Partner and your manager. Your ONYEN is needed to ensure you are able to access all of our systems, as well as complete your onboarding.
Use Canvas to Begin Your Onboarding
You will receive an email from Canvas to begin your onboarding You will click “Non-Onyen Login” to login to Canvas and complete action items on or before your first day. Canvas will be the tool for you to use to keep track of all of the tasks you must complete for your onboarding. You will be able to refer back to Canvas at any time.

All UNC employees will attend the virtual UNC New Employee Orientation: Welcome to Carolina Blue. If you are a temporary employee, be sure to click the Temporary Employees link for your orientation
Know What to Expect
Meet with your supervisor to familiarize yourself with your role, duties, performance expectations and goals, and any specifics about the job
Use Canvas to Continue Your Onboarding
Use your personal email to login to Canvas and complete all of the action items. Canvas will be the tool for you to use to keep track of all of the tasks you must complete for your onboarding. Refer back to Canvas frequently to ensure you are completing all items.

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is one of six health professional schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine, Social Work) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at UNC. We currently teach approximately 600 PharmD students, 100 PhD students, and 20 Master's students.
The School was named the number one School of Pharmacy in the U.S. by the U.S. News and World Report. We have experienced much growth and success, and continue to strategically position ourselves for sustained impact.

Safety and Security
During your first week, you should ensure that your contact information is updated in ConnectCarolina. UNC sends important alerts via Alert Carolina, including messages that threaten the health and safety of persons on campus, or that impact normal campus operations Campus Safety provides all law enforcement services to the University campus. The Carolina Ready app provides students, faculty and staff with a direct connection to UNC Police so that everyone can easily communicate all their safety needs. Its easy-to-use features help you stay safe every day and enable us to better protect you.

Football & Basketball
Ticket assignments, both for new season ticket orders as well as during reseating years, are made based on the priority system. The point system gives 1 point for each year of service to the University and 6 points for each year of ordering season tickets Visit GoHeels com/MyAccount and log in with your PID to submit an application.
Olympic Sports
Free access for yourself and your immediate family (total limit of 4) to regular season home Olympic Sport events played at Department of Athletics facilities on the UNC campus by displaying your UNC One Card at the gate of the sporting facility, based on availability.Ticketed Olympic Sports include: men ' s and women ' s soccer, women ' s basketball, men ' s and women ' s lacrosse, and baseball. UNC One Cards are not valid for complimentary entry into post-season (ACC and NCAA Championship) events.

Bus Routes
& Other Transportation
Chapel Hill Transit operates fixed-route and demand-response service throughout the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro with connecting routes to the regional transit provider, GoTriangle.
GoTriangle provides regional bus service to the Research Triangle region of North Carolina in Wake, Durham, and Orange counties.
The Commuter Alternative Program (CAP) rewards UNC employees and students who choose to take the public transit, ride share, or bike/walk to campus Sustainable transportaiton options improve air quality, build community and reduce traffic congestion to make everyone ' s commute better
Parking at UNC
The School is allocated a limited number of parking spaces per year to assign to our employees for a fee. New employees are assigned permits that are available on their hire date. All employees participate in the annual parking allocation process in July. The School's parking policy can be found here.

Chapel Hill Campus
The School occupies Beard and Kerr halls, several floors in Marsico Hall, and the first two floors of the Genetic Medicine Building (or GMB) on the Chapel Hill Campus With close proximity to the Research Triangle Park (RTP), as well as the State's Capital of Raleigh, the Chapel Hill campus offers many opportunities for employees and students. Asheville Campus
The Asheville Campus is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina Located at UNC-Asheville, the School occupies space in Karpen Hall. There are also opoortunities for collaboration at the UNC Health Sciences Campus at Mountain Area Health Education Center.

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, UNC School of Medicine, UNC Gillings School of Public Health, and UNC Adams School of Dentistry have regional campuses in Asheville that emphasize care for the underserved, place-based learning, and interprofessional education and practice
Our Asheville Campus is home to 30 student pharmacists per class, world-class faculty members in the Division of Practice Advancement and Clinical Education
as well as the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, and dedicated, student-centered staff members in administration and educational technology. We partner with MAHEC to offer PGY2 residency programs in Ambulatory Care and Geriatrics, and with Mission Health to offer PGY2 residencies in Ambulatory Care, Emergency Department, and Administration.

EARNINGS
All permanent employees working half-time (20 hours per week) or greater are eligible to earn leave as noted below Employees working part-time and at least 20 hours per week earn leave on a pro-rated basis. Temporary employees and those working less than half-time are not eligible to earn leave
SHRA Employees
An eligible SHRA employee who is in pay status for one-half or more of the regularly scheduled work days and paid holidays in a month earns leave for that month Sick leave is earned at a rate of eight hours per month. The amount of vacation leave earned is based on the length of Total State Service described in the table below

EHRA Non-Faculty Employees
EHRA non-faculty research, instructional, and Tier II senior academic and administrative officers (SAAOs) earn 24 days of annual leave per calendar year This leave accrual applies to the vast majority of EHRA non-faculty employees The Chancellor, Provost, Deans, and the Directors of major centers who are classified as EHRA non-faculty Tier I academic and administrative officers (SAAOs) earn 26 days of annual leave per calendar year Sick leave is earned at a rate of eight hours per month.
Faculty Employees
Twelve-month faculty members are entitled to 24 days of annual leave per calendar year and 12 sick days per year accrued on a monthly basis
