Peter and the Starcatcher, book by Rick Elice and music and lyrics by Wayne Barker, is the current production at Klein Theatre in Fredericksburg, Va.
Peter and the Starcatcher
Peter is a young orphan who is very lonely. He is sent away from England to a faraway island with other boys from the orphanage. On the ship, the captain has a mysterious trunk with a magical item inside.
While at sea, the boys meet Molly, a clever and brave Starcatcher-in-training who knows all about the magical item in the secret trunk.
Peter and Molly have to work together to protect the magical item from the evil pirate Black Stache and his pirate mateys.

The play will feature many adult actors who are playing children. Some actors will be playing adults and children. Some actors will also be playing more than one character. The story is told with dancing, singing, and music. You may hear music in the theatre that actors may sing along to.
The Stage
The set is things that are on the stage that help to tell where the story takes place. Actors and other helpers that work backstage (run crew) will move pieces of the set during the show as the story setting changes.
Some of the places the story takes place are pirate ships, the island of Neverland, and the orphanage.
Sound and Lighting
Peter and the Starcatcher may seem loud sometimes as the actors sing and the music plays.
The show will also have bright lights on the stage.
I can bring headphones, earplugs, or sunglasses to wear during the show.
I can also exit and re-enter the theatre any time I need to.
Magic and Special Effects
Peter and the Starcatcher has moments of magic and special effects. These moments happen with special tools that the actors and run crew use to tell the story.
Some of these scenes involve fighting and violence. None of the actors get hurt in real life.
History
Peter and the Starcatcher is the origin story of Peter Pan and is based on the novels by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.
This story has characters that exist in Disney’s Peter Pan, such as Captain Hook, Smee, and Peter as well as new friends I’ll meet in the play I’m about to see.
