Ever wonder about what happens to the students you’ve come to know in Klein Theatre after they graduate? Whether it be on the stage, backstage, in the box office, running a theatre, or in a variety of other professional endeavors, this is our way of letting you know what some of them have been up to since leaving their UMW home . . .
After graduating with a degree in theatre, James Lau ’24, became the lead house manager and box office treasurer at Studio Theatre and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. As a student, he spent three years working at the Klein Theatre Box Office, becoming well-versed in the Tessitura ticketing system. With his passion for directing, he is now pursuing a directing fellowship at The Studio Theatre. While at UMW, James appeared in Matilda the Musical, assisted the directors of Nickel and Dimed and The Rocky Horror Show and served as assistant stage manager for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. James was the chair of the Studio 115 Committee and directed Significant Other, 26 Pebbles, and Good Boys and True in that space. He was a member of Alpha Psi Omega.
Mina Sollars ‘23 graduated with honors in theatre with a minor in arts administration, having worked as the advancement assistant for two years. Shortly after graduating, she joined Arena Stage as a development fellow as part of the Allen Lee Hughes BIPOC Fellowship. Upon completion of the fellowship, Mina accepted the operations and events assistant position at Arena, where she continues to work on a team of dedicated arts advancement professionals to support the theatre’s 20 million-dollar annual fundraising efforts. While attending Mary Washington, Mina was a member of the Eta Eta chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the national theatre honor society and appeared in Much Ado About Nothing, Nickel and Dimed, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Rocky Horror Show, and Men on Boats.
Morgan “Mo” Gresham ’17 is an elementary school theatre teacher in Atlanta. She works with students from kindergarten to fifth grade to develop their acting skills while teaching them about the world of theatre. While at UMW, Mo distinguished herself as an actor and sound designer; she continues to pursue both passions with Players Guild at Sugar Hill and Bellissimo Theatre in Georgia and North Carolina. Mo was seen onstage in Lysistrata and Steel Magnolias, assisted the sound designer of Noises Off, was the sound engineer for The Drunken City, designed sound for Tartuffe and Macbeth, was a student employee as the advancement assistant in the management office and worked in the box office. Mo was the president of Alpha Psi Omega.
The University of Mary Washington is a place to discover who you are. Lean into faculty who will challenge you, encourage you, and celebrate your victories. Dream big, find your purpose, and take your next steps with us by your side.

Acknowledging the AcknowledgingLandthe Land
We acknowledge the Native American people who lived along the Fall Line of the Rappahannock River, on whose home we are gathered for this performance. The Manahoac, Rappahannock Tribe and Patawomeck Tribe of Virginia are the Indigenous peoples of this unceded land. We honor their resilience, their fight for rightful recognition and tribal sovereignty, and their connection to the land on which we are grateful to gather, to teach, to learn, and to create theatre.

Paradise Blue
by Dominique Morisseau • May 25 @ 2 PM • Studio Theatre
Detroit, 1949. Welcome to Paradise, a jazz club that’s seen better days. Blue, the club’s trumpet-playing owner is ready to leave this town and his family demons behind. But his house band and his best girl have dreams of their own, so when hardboiled widow Silver enters the picture looking for some business and some pleasure, love, lust, and legacy collide in the fight for Paradise. Studio transforms the Victor Shargai theatre into a jazz club for Dominique Morisseau’s (Pipeline, Skeleton Crew) music-filled drama about resilience, self-preservation, and community.

Wrinkle in Time: A New Musical
by Lauren Yee and Heather Christian • June 22 @ 2 PM • Arena Stage
A world-premiere musical of the classic young adult novel. Meg Murry’s father was experimenting with time travel and the fifth dimension when he mysteriously disappeared. Now, Meg, her friend Calvin, and her younger brother Charles Wallace must race to rescue him. Can they outwit the forces of evil they will encounter on their heart-stopping journey through space? Join Meg on this epic quest in an adventurous new musical adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s Newbery Medal-winning classic novel that will energize your spirit, expand your imagination, and inspire you to believe that love, friendship, and courage can conquer all.
