Welcome to the University of Miami School of Architecture’s Career Forum! We appreciate your participation and dedication to shaping the future of our students. This event remains a cornerstone of our commitment to bridging the gap between academia and the professional world. As we gather once again on our Coral Gables Campus for the 2024 event, we’re retaining the hybrid approach to accommodate diverse preferences. Join us in-person at our Lakeside Village venue on Thursday, February 22nd, or virtually on Friday, February 23rd. The Career Forum continues to serve as a catalyst for our students’ growth, providing invaluable opportunities for internships and real-world experiences that complement their academic endeavors. For graduating students, it serves as a pivotal moment, connecting them with esteemed partners and opportunities nationwide. Within this brochure, you’ll find profiles showcasing the aspirations and talents of our future professionals. The profiles also demonstrate the diversity in backgrounds, orientation, ideas and skills that characterize the student body. This diversity is in the school’s DNA. It empowers our students in addressing current environmental and social challenge and in creating a more beautiful, equitable, and environmentally responsible world. Thank you for your ongoing support in considering our students for employment. Together, we’re paving the way for the next generation of design leaders and ensuring their success in the ever-evolving field of architecture.

HYBRID HOUSING FOR YOUTH AND OLD PEOPLE IN THE HISTORIC CENTER OF CUENCA INFORMATION: YEAR: 2018 PLACE: CalleLarga, El Barranco, Cuenca - Ecuador Final Thesis Project for Degree in Architecture ABOUT THE PROJECT: The project was a response to the current problems that “El Barranco” neighborhood has been strugling with the last 2 years, coming to propose a hybrid housing project that responds to users who frequent the place, in this case younger students and older adults. The concept is based on the “Reinterpretation of the Patio in High density housing” to mantain the typology of the area in order to being able to adapt correctly to the urban fabric. The main objective is to increase density, going from 45 hab. per hectare to 70hab. per hectare. This projects is an example of how greater habitability is achieved in the place, generating both the revitalization of “El Barranco” and high quality housing for users at the same time, and the best off all, that it is at “the heart of the city”.

Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners LLP New York, New York (multiple locations) https://www.beyerblinderbelle.com Beyer Blinder Belle was founded in 1968, in the wake of the urban renewal movement in the United States, when the social fabric of cities, communities, and buildings was compromised by the prevailing attitudes about planning and architecture. We pioneered and defined a different approach to the design of the built environment that focused on architecture empowering people — their interaction with each other on streets and in neighborhoods, their pleasure in moving through the city, and their connections to the surrounding physical fabric. This mission has guided us for more than five decades and has shaped a broad and award-winning practice — now 180 professionals in New York City, Washington, DC and Boston engaged in architecture, planning, and interiors. A persistent exploration of historic, cultural and civic meaning guides our work, while our design is contemporary and reflects the materials and technology of today.
