AidasaysLaIlaahailla-Allah
A poetic story about why we say the shahaadah
Umm Aadam Zahra V 8/10/2020Aida and Maryam are best of friends; one day Aida asks Maryam about the wonderful creations around them and Maryam explains in a beautiful way, to Aida about Allah who is our Creator, and thus helps Aida to proclaim the shahaadah, the first important pillar of Islam, with understanding.
Aida woke up in the morning, jumping out of her bed
With a smile so bright and a sparkle in her eye
“The day is finally here mama!” she said happily to her mother
“I will get to meet Maryam today, wont I?”
They were best friends, Maryam and Aida
Like sisters, they loved to spend time with each other
Sat in their garden, or walked by the beach
They often gazed up at the heavens, each time with a new wonder.
They loved to play, paint and skip
Counting petals on flowers, or branches on trees
Watched planes fly above, or cars on the street
And dreamt about it all, even in their sleep.
Today was no different, as they sat down together
Maryam and Aida, smiled at each other
Out in their garden, in the sun and the breeze
This was indeed their most favorite place to be.
Soon they had painted, with wonderful colors
The grass, the sky, the trees and butterflies
A river flowing through a green forest
And mountains that had snow shining like pearls
“Beautiful is our world, like some painting drawn;
There is so much to see, So much we can admire
Maryam, do you wonder who has made this all?
The majestic planets, the wondrous oceans, the twinkling stars, and our dear parents?
Maryam looked at Aida and exclaimed out loud
“Allah is the One who created us all!
It is Allah, who is our Khaaliq,
It is Allah, who is our Rabb
Laa ilaaha illa-Allah
It is Only Allah we worship, none other!
To know Allah, is to know His creations,
So look around and you will surely see, No cracks in the sky, birds that fly up high,
The earth that bears our weight, the trees and the shade they provide
Eyes with which we see, nose with which we breathe,
The heart that pumps, the lungs that toil
The tiniest of creatures, the ant and the bees,
The various fruits and vegetables that grow from the soil.”
“Indeed these are all creations, with unique design and precision
Indeed we are all creations, of Only ONE maker, not many –
Laa Ilaaha Illa-Allah, It is Allah who deserves all praise
For all He had to say was “ BE!” to bring us all into existence.”
“The sun and the moon, both fixed on their course
Turning day into night, changing the time
The oceans and seas providing water both salty and sweet
All obey Allah, and submit to His Will, His Might.”
“The angels that pull clouds, bringing rain to us all
And those as well, that write down our deeds
We believe in them all, we don’t ever doubt
They all obey Allah, as is His Decree.”
“
From Aadam, to Nuh, to Musa to Isa,
Allah chose many Prophets and Messengers
To remind us to say Laa ilaaha illa-Allah,
It is Allah alone must we always worship!”
“To convey His Final Book, His Final revelation
Allah chose our beloved Muhammad ﷺ as His Prophet
To teach us Islam, and Allah’s commands;
He was pure of heart, always truthful and honest.”
“The Qur’an is Allah’s Word, it is Divine in its speech
Sent down by our Rabb, to remind us of our purpose
It is His love, His Mercy and a miracle
Throughout our life, the Qur’an is our guidance.”
“Through all this, and His many signs, Allah teaches us, nurtures us, and helps us see the truth
To Allah we belong, To Him we shall return
To Allah belongs, all that is on the earth and in the Heavens.”
“Now do you see, my dearest friend Aida?
Since before we were born, Allah chose for us Islam, So to Him do we submit, just like the earth and the sun.
We are Muslims, by choice
We say Laa ilaaha illa-Allah
We believe He is Allah, the Only true God,
Only He deserves our worship, and all of our love.”
Aida lay awake, in the pitch dark night
Thinking of the words her friend Maryam had spoken
She stared at the stars, so bright in the black sky
And wondered about Allah, up in the Heavens.
Her heart filled with love, for her Creator
As she felt His Mercy descend upon her
“Laa Ilaaha Illa-Allah” she proclaimed with certainty
“There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger”
Peaceful at last, Aida rested her head,
With a sweet smile, she made a dua,
“Indeed I know now, You are Allah,
All powerful and merciful, You are My Rabb
Amidst your creations, I have found my truth,
You Alone I will worship, and prostrate in submission.
So hear my dua, O Allah, my Creator,
Keep my heart content with Your Love,
And help me fulfill my Purpose.
