ON THE COVER | 45 THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT HOMECOMING
In honor of the year UMHB was established (1845), we picked 45 of our favorite Homecoming activities to keep you and your family entertained before kickoff!
The Department of Education recently designated UMHB as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), a milestone indicating the institution has reached 25 percent Hispanic enrollment. UMHB joins an elite group of colleges and universities enrolling two-thirds of all Hispanic undergraduates in the US, driving the growth of Hispanics in the workforce who are projected to account for 78 percent of new workers between 2020 and 2030.
The designation provides programs and initiatives to students each year, bringing together more than 700 participants from across the United States and Puerto Rico for workshops, networking opportunities and professional development.
During Welcome Week, more than 400 UMHB students participated in Love CTX to pack 21,000 meals for One More Child, which provides Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families. The meals will go to Belton ISD's Project Heartbeat program to help students who may not have food at home and will be distributed throughout the school year.
This year, the Belton H-E-B plus! store donated all food items for the meals, equaling $11,000 of in-kind donations.
The annual event is designed for students to discover service opportunities and grow closer to their Cru Groups by serving the community.

In honor of longtime ministry professor Dr. Leroy Kemp, HA ’08, the College of Christian Studies created the Leroy Kemp Ministry Award and selected Jacob Carter, who graduated in May with a Bachelor of Transformational Development degree, as the first recipient.
The award is given to the student who has shown exceptional commitment to Christian ministry leadership.
“We wanted to name this new ministry award for someone we have great respect for,” said Professor of Christian Studies Dr. William Carrell of Dr. Kemp who worked as a professor at UMHB for 30 years and served as a pastor of First Baptist Belton for 20 years.
Dr. Colin Wilborn '01 was promoted recently to associate provost, in addition to his current role as executive dean for the Mayborn College of Health Sciences. This appointment underscores Wilborn's outstanding contributions to UMHB and his continued commitment to academic excellence.
In his new role as associate provost, Wilborn will oversee regional accreditation
(SACSCOC) and various operational activities within the Office of Academic Affairs, including faculty contracting and student appeals. This expanded role will enhance the Office of Academic Affairs' operational effectiveness.
Wilborn, an alumnus of UMHB, first joined the university in 2006 as an assistant professor in Exercise and Sport Science (EXSS). His early contributions included serving as graduate program director for EXSS and director of the Human Performance Lab, a facility now renowned nationally for its research in sport science and nutrition. His strong leadership was further demonstrated when he was appointed dean of the graduate school in 2010. During his tenure, he was instrumental in launching UMHB's first online degree in sport administration and expanded graduate program offerings to include physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, public health, and nursing. Wilborn's expertise with accrediting bodies was pivotal in the SACSCOC Decennial Reaffirmation and various programmatic accreditations.
In 2015, Wilborn took on the additional role of dean of research, where he facilitated the introduction of travel grants, established a robust research committee, and significantly enhanced the university's research capabilities.
Most notably, Wilborn's leadership led to the Mayborn College of Health Sciences creation in 2018. As executive dean and founding dean, he successfully merged EXSS, Nursing, and the new School of Health Professions, positioning UMHB as a leader in interdisciplinary health sciences education.
UMHB Provost Dr. John Vassar expressed enthusiasm about Wilborn's new role: "We are grateful for Dr. Wilborn's exceptional service to UMHB. His dedication and leadership have greatly contributed to the growth and success of our institution. We look forward to his continued impact in his new role as associate provost."
Wilborn is married to Andra and they have two children, Ainsley and Cameron.
Austin Soulard, a 2012 UMHB alumna, recently joined the UMHB Advancement Division as a Director of Fundraising after an extensive sales and revenue generation career in professional sports, college athletics and the entertainment industries. Most recently, Soulard was the director of premium seating & group hospitality for the Los Angeles Rams. Before that, she worked with organizations including the LA Clippers, the University of Utah Athletics, the Houston Astros, the Dallas
Mavericks, and the Texas Rangers. Soulard earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication and media studies.
“As a proud alumna and former UMHB softball player, I am passionate about contributing to the university’s mission and fostering a supportive community through fundraising initiatives and meaningful donor relationships,” Soulard said. “I’m looking forward to giving back to the place that has given me so much and am thrilled to be home in the Lone Star State. Go Cru!”
This summer semester, a group of occupational therapy students teamed up with the arts academy to create a student-led event with arts and activities for senior adults with dementia.
The evidence-based programs, called “Memory Cafés,” are designed to create inclusive spaces for people living with dementia and their families and friends and included arts, games, current events and music.
“The purpose of the cafés is to create opportunities for socialization in inclusive environments for people living with dementia and their caregivers,” said OT Assistant Professor Dr. Laura Novak. “We want to have a place where they can come have fun, socialize and meet other people experiencing the same journey.”
As part of the occupational therapy curriculum, OT graduate students complete a three-semester integrative project. After completing a community needs assessment, one of Novak’s student groups decided to create the Memory Café event and reached out to Cherry Garasi, director of the UMHB Arts Academy, to see if the academy would be interested in partnering on the project. Together, OT and the Arts Academy then partnered with the Area Agency on Aging who provides the space, advertising and registration for the events.
Novak was thrilled with participation at the first three sessions, saying around 20 to 25 participants came to each event.
“We had people living with dementia along with their spouses, siblings, grandchildren and professional caregivers in attendance,” she said. “One family reported they are unable to get their loved one to leave the house because they have nowhere to go. He came
and participated in all three events and thoroughly enjoyed each one. Another participant reported that being able to share with others reminds him that there is still good and that there is a reason God still has him here.”
Garasi said she was excited to partner with the OT students to get the Memory Cafés up and running.
“When the Conservatory was renamed the UMHB Arts Academy two years ago, we set out to reimagine the possibilities of ways we could reach out to the community,” Garasi said, adding that the new mission statement says the goal is to offer arts experiences to all ages and to focus on lifelong learning.
With a strong offering of lessons and classes for children, Garasi wanted to branch out into offerings for the senior community.
When Novak reached out to her with the idea to create a Dementia Memory Café Series, Garasi jumped at the chance to be a part of it.
“It has been a perfect fit for the collaboration of the Arts Academy and the OT program,” she said.
Novak said the OT students greatly benefitted from learning first-hand how important social interaction is for people living with dementia and they learned how to interact with the participants.

UMHB won three American Southwest Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete awards and placed 11 more student-athletes on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete teams. The Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Teams recognize student-athletes who achieve a high level of academic achievement (a 3.20 grade-point average or better) while competing as a starter or important reserve on their team. Each school in the conference is limited to one nominee per ASC championship sport. This year’s winners were:
Sarah Kmiecik of Houston was named the Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in women’s golf. As a marketing major, she graduated in May with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She was also a WGCA Second Team All-America selection this season. She was also a WGCA All-Region Selection and First Team All-ASC honoree. Additionally, Kmiecik earned an individual bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championship, where she finished tied for 17th overall.
Hannah Frasca of Spring was named the Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in volleyball. She graduated this May with a nursing degree and had a 3.71 grade point average. She was also named CSC Academic All-District team, AVCA All-Region, ASC Co-Most Valuable Player and First Team All-ASC. Frasca ranked second in the conference with 3.2 kills per set and third with 330 total points scored. She hit the fifth-most kills in the conference with 281, adding 13 assists and 21 service aces.
Kelsey White of Keller was named the Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in women’s soccer. She graduated with a perfect 4.0 as a pre-dental student and earned a perfect 4.0 in her first semester of graduate school. White was also named Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ASC after starting in all 19 games this season. White recorded three goals with game-winners against Ohio Northern and Sul Ross State. White was also named to the USC All-Region and All-America teams.
UMHB baseball and softball teams had exciting seasons with both advancing to play in the American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship Tournaments. Baseball closed its regular season 24-17 and 14-10 in ASC action. Softball finished its season at the ASC tournament with a 24-15 overall season and 13-8 in conference play.
Rhett Grosz, a senior infielder was named ASC Player of the Year and First Team All-ASC.

When most people go on vacation, they hit up the souvenir shops to load their suitcases with magnets and coffee mugs to commemorate their special trips. When Dr. Stephen Crawford travels, his souvenir of choice is a little different. He’s always on the hunt for another musical instrument to add to his growing collection of percussion instruments and flutes from all over the world. Over the years, while voyaging to more than 34 countries he’s amassed quite a collection from trips including a pilgrimage to an Amazonian jungle near Machu Pichu to an old, converted rice hut in Bali to a fancy hotel in Bucharest.
The beautiful and unique pieces he’s collected—like the Aztec clay flute from Puerto Vallarta, the ocarina from Ecuador and the almglocken from Austria—serve as more than conversation starters and decor for his office. Well known among his peers for having the extensive collection, Crawford often gets invited to play them in concerts and events throughout the country and world. But one of the main reasons he continues to collect over the years is to share his love of the instruments and their unique sounds with his students. Crawford uses them in his world music classes to demonstrate the authentic sounds of cultural music from all corners of the globe.
“When we talk about certain regions of the world and certain instruments, I use pieces from my collection instead of going to a YouTube video,” he said. “It’s much more effective and it grabs the student’s attention when I can actually bring instruments in to play them myself and then pass them around so they get that handson, tactile education.”
When Crawford was seven years old, his father got orders to go to Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force. To keep him busy and distracted while his dad was overseas, Crawford’s mom decided to enroll him in music lessons. Having watched his older brother play in middle school band concerts, the youngster decided he wanted to try out drumming. Little did he or his parents know these lessons would open his eyes to a lifelong passion that turned into a career that led him to UMHB as the director of percussion studies and teaching music history.
Falling in love with music and its vast history seemed to come naturally to Crawford whose father was of Scottish descent and mother of Mexican descent, not to mention that he lived in several states and countries since his father moved around for the military. The birth of his instrument collection began when Crawford and his wife, Dr. Ann Crawford, a professor in the nursing department, were married and began traveling the world.
Studying music wasn’t always his first choice of career, however. Crawford originally planned to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Air Force, but an eye injury at the age of 13 altered that path. “I really wanted to go into aviation; music was my second option,” he said. “But I wouldn’t change a thing now.”
While studying for his undergraduate music degree at Minot State University in North Dakota, Crawford says he had an amazing humanities professor who modeled the kind of teacher he one day wanted to be.
“What I found fascinating from him was that he would show us his personal pictures from his travels instead of stock pictures and he had stories behind everything,” he said. When Crawford began traveling the world, he too started chronicling special moments from his adventures to share with his students.
“If we’re talking about the music of Peru in one of my classes, I can show them pictures of Machu Picchu and the native musicians playing there and be able to tell them the story behind it. It enraptures them and brings them into the story,” he said. “It’s a much more effective way of teaching music history, which could otherwise be relatively dull.”
Dr. Stephen Crawford and his world music class enjoy playing African drums at the end of the semester.
Over the years, his students have enjoyed sharing their adventures from their travels and mission trips around the world, and some international students even make food from family recipes to share in class. Crawford says food provides the perfect example for him when discussing differences in music from places around the world.
“When the food element comes up, we talk about regions of music and how it’s like food,” he said. “For instance, you can’t just talk about 'barbecue' because somebody’s going to ask, ‘Texas, Kansas City, Memphis or St. Louis barbecue? What about North Carolina?’ Music is the same way as food. You can’t just say, ‘African music’ because Africa is the largest continent on the planet. There’s not just one kind. If we can’t do that with food, we can’t do that with music.”
For his world music classes, at the end of each semester, he likes to treat his students to “hands-on African drumming.”
Over the last few years, the university has amassed a collection of close to 30 African drums. Crawford and his students form a drum circle and he teaches them about multi-layering of rhythms and music.
“They learn it all verbally, as many cultures do, without written notation,” he said. “And they thoroughly enjoy it. We have nursing majors, football players and business majors, along with some music majors, sitting in the room drumming for an hour, swapping instruments. They have a ton of fun, but they don’t know that they’re actually learning all this high-end African drumming. They really enjoy that kind of hands-on component.”
Abigail Etheridge ’23 enjoys putting her skills to work as an emergency department nurse in Austin.
Amputations from motorcycle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings and drownings. Working in a busy Austin emergency department, Abigail Etheridge '23 has already seen a lot of trauma working as a registered nurse since she graduated last December. But growing up as the oldest of five and earning the nickname "Paramedic," being an emergency nurse is clearly what she was meant to do. At just 13, Abigail already began proving she could keep a cool head about her when her siblings got hurt, like the time her daredevil three-year-old sister zoomed her scooter around the corner and hit loose gravel. Before her tiny body skidded across the ground, "Paramedic Abby," as her parents fondly called her, was first on scene to bandage her sibling's boo-boos. With the ability to think and work quickly under pressure, Abigail knew she wanted to be a nurse. After doing her clinical rotations in nursing school and loving the fast-paced emergency environment, she knew the ER was where she wanted to work.
"I felt really confident in my ability and everything else I did clinically just didn't measure up. It just felt too
slow," Abigail said. The December 2023 graduate says nothing is more gratifying than putting all her knowledge and energy into saving a person's life.
Even though choosing to work as an emergency department nurse is about as fast-paced as nursing jobs come, Abigail said the training she received at UMHB was top-notch, and she felt highly prepared the first day she walked into the ER.
"I think UMHB students are so ready to step into their roles when they graduate," she said. "Even if I hadn't been given an orientation period, from a clinical perspective I felt prepared enough that I probably could have done it on my own my first day, which is pretty amazing. I definitely don't think I would have been nearly as prepared as I am today without the Scott & White School of Nursing, and I'm super thankful I went to UMHB."
In today's digital world, it's easy to find just about any degree imaginable online, including a bachelor of nursing degree. More online nursing programs are popping up across the country every day. As convenient and cost-effective as an online nursing program might sound,
Sammy James, ’23 says the hands-on experience he received during his clinicals and in the Clinical Simulation Learning Center (pictured at right) helped prepare him for his job on the medical-surgical unit at McLane Children’s Hospital. The center features a simulation hospital with patient simulators, a nurses’ station, four standard hospital rooms, an ER/trauma room, a labor and delivery room, a critical care room and a home health room.
UMHB nursing faculty theorize that some programs may not be all they're cracked up to be.
"Nursing is a hands-on field that requires an ability to communicate face-to-face with people and their families during a time of great need. You can't get that experience from a textbook or online," said Dr. Christi Emerson '92, professor of nursing for Scott & White School of Nursing, who has been teaching nursing at UMHB for almost 20 years.
She pointed out concerning stories from colleagues over the last couple of years of nurses being hired without ever starting an IV, giving an injection or having a face-to-face conversation with a real patient.
"If students don't interact with a person, it's sometimes hard to just get past saying, 'Hello, my name is Christi, and I'm going to be your nurse today,'" Emerson said. "Having that human interaction, face-to-face with someone who's not well, who may be in pain or confused, is priceless."
She said many smaller programs or online programs have limited access to institutions where students can participate in hands-on clinicals.
"We're very fortunate to have our clinical partners," she said, especially Baylor Scott & White Health, which was named the nation's No. 1 major teaching hospital on the 2023 Fortune/PINC AI Top 100 Hospitals list.
"Our students have hundreds of clinical hours at Baylor Scott & White," Emerson said of the health system that helped found UMHB's nursing program in 1968.
Before students even set foot in a clinic with real patients, they spend countless hours perfecting their skills in the 20,000-square-foot Clinical Simulation Learning Center that includes assessment labs and a simulated hospital.
"Our students really do get the best of all worlds because of the wonderful clinical facilities we partner with, but also the state-of-the-art simulation center that brings them opportunities to safely practice things until they feel competent," said Dr. Jared McClure '08, director of the Clinical Simulation Learning Center, which recently attained provisional accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, which is a prestigious recognition for a simulation program.
Emerson said the goal is to make the simulated rooms as realistic as possible. "Everything from the way we scan medications as a safety measure to the way things are placed in a patient room, to the way they go to get supplies from a supply room, we attempt to make it as realistic as possible."
With all this available to UMHB nursing students, it's clear how out of more than 200 approved nursing education programs in Texas, UMHB ranks as one of the top 10 best RN programs in the state, according to Nurse.org.
"Mary Hardin-Baylor graduates are highly sought after because of the quality of their preparation, and
Nursing students work with one of the high-fidelity “patient” simulators at the UMHB Clinical Simulation Learning Center.
because they are ready to hit the ground running when they graduate," Emerson said. "Students who want to work as a nurse will have a job as a nurse."
Each semester, for as far back as she can remember, Emerson says the job placement rate for graduates is almost always 100 percent, with the majority of students obtaining job offers before they even graduate or take the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination). Furthermore, when UMHB graduates take the NCLEX, a stellar 95.5 percent pass the exam on the first try, compared to a declining national average, which currently hovers around an 80 percent pass rate.
Sammy James, who graduated with his bachelor's in nursing from UMHB in 2023, said he also feels his alma mater prepared him for his job as a registered nurse working on the medical-surgical unit at McLane Children's Hospital in Temple.
"I'm so glad I went there and could not imagine going anywhere else," he said. "I can't say that it would prepare everybody else perfectly, but for me, it prepared me exactly how I needed to, especially with the rotations during our last semester. It made the transition so much smoother."
From previous experience, Sammy says he is a much better student with in-person classes versus online classes. He says he couldn't imagine getting a nursing degree through an online program and
potentially missing out on the hands-on experience UMHB provided.
Through his coworkers who have been on the job much longer than he has, he sees every day how experience is the key to being a successful nurse.
"Some of my coworkers have an associate's degree in nursing, so technically, I have a higher degree, but they are so much better at caring for patients because they have so much more hands-on experience. So, at the end of the day, what really makes a good nurse and a prepared nurse is the experience rather than just the book knowledge."
While many college campuses steer clear of anything Christian-related, one of the elements Sammy loved most about the UMHB nursing program was how some of his professors weaved their faith into their teaching.
"Ms. (Christan) Hammonds '99 was an inspiration to me because she was able to stand up for her faith. It definitely was inspiring," Sammy said.
He knows that meeting his patients' needs is always his first priority, but he also looks for ways to provide a spiritual component if the situation allows it.
"Nursing is such a great thing for a believer—a great place to minister—but at the same time, if I'm not providing them competent care, there's no use for me giving them spiritual care," he said. "My focus is to become the best nurse I can so that I can treat them physically because that's what they're here for, and if the Lord allows an avenue for me to share my faith, then I'll do that too."

THE FOLLOWING SOCIETIES RECOGNIZE LIFETIME GIFTS OF ALL LIVING DONORS AS OF MAY 31, 2024
Honoring donors who have made lifetime gifts of $1 million or more, the 1845 Society celebrates our historical beginning, prior to Texas gaining statehood, when a small group of individuals formed the Texas Baptist Education Society and requested a charter be granted for a Christian university. The charter was granted by the 9th Congress of the Republic of Texas on February 1, 1845.

Norman Northen ’75 was a third-generation UMHB graduate in his family, following his grandmother, Ara Lee Normand, in 1965, and his mother, Joan Normand Northen, in 1970. He is also married to Rebecca Northen, a 1982 UMHB alumna.
The year was 1973—Norman Northen's senior year at Belton High School, and the first time students were involved in planning the senior prom. As a volunteer on the student decorations committee, Norman's vision for "An Evening in Camelot" was to illuminate the banquet hall with 400 candles, so he went on a mission to visit every florist in the area looking for wedding candelabras to borrow.
When he walked into Lois' Bridal and Floral in Temple, which was the largest florist around at that time, she was so impressed with his idea—calling it the "best vision of an event she'd ever seen"—that she told him he could borrow anything in her shop that wasn't rented.
A year later, fate would have it that Norman's grandmother, Ara Lee Normand ‘65, who was MHB’s registrar while he was a student, told him about a job as an afterschool delivery person at Lois’ shop and he went to interview.
"When I got to the appointment, I never even sat down. Lois hired me on the spot, saying, 'You're the one who was here for the prom; you're hired!'" Norman recalled.
That day changed the trajectory of Norman's 50-year career, which included working in four florist shops in Belton and Temple, one of which he owned and ran for
eight years. He originally planned to get his art degree and teach. Never did he foresee himself working as a florist, much less as one for his entire career. Nor did he expect to earn the business of four Mary Hardin-Baylor first ladies. However, looking back now over the halfcentury of work he's done for longtime clients like UMHB and the many state and national accolades he's achieved, Norman says it all ended up being a great blessing.
UMHB has always felt like home to Norman, who says he lived just two miles from campus and visited frequently since his grandmother, Ara Lee, was the registrar and his grandfather, R.T. Normand, worked as the postmaster. So when it came time for him to go to college, there was no other choice in mind; he always knew he would attend MHB. Because he had taken college classes during his high school years and was able to CLEP out of several courses, Norman already had enough hours to rank as a sophomore when he started in the fall of 1973. However, his aspiration to major in art with a minor in interior design vanished after a visit with an advisor who told him that route would require 18 additional hours. In tears, he walked to his grandmother's office. She suggested he visit the new home economics chair, who helped create a
customized degree plan for Norman that included the ability to combine his love of art and interior design.
The young student was a go-getter and finished college in two years at the age of 20, sometimes taking as many as 22 hours a semester, and was the first male student to graduate with a home economics degree with an emphasis in interior design and a minor in art.
His love and appreciation for the beauty of flowers developed as a youngster from hanging around his grandmothers. One grandmother was a member of the garden club and iris society; the other was a farmer's wife and "could throw a seed out in the flower garden, and in three months it was full of flowers," he said with a chuckle. "We always had flowers. I don't ever remember having an occasion at either grandparents' house that there weren't flowers on the table."
He fondly recalls cutting flowers with them in their gardens and learning how to arrange them in vases. So, when he was hired as Lois' delivery driver, helping create beautiful arrangements came naturally to him. Since he was a student at UMHB, Norman asked Lois if he could approach First Lady Marietta Parker about earning MHB’s business. Lois told him it wasn't likely to happen because

there were two other florists in Belton. But Mrs. Parker said yes, and that was the beginning of his relationship with UMHB.
Mrs. Parker had Norman designing arrangements and dozens of corsages and boutonnieres for the annual Christmas community open houses she and President Dr. Bobby Parker threw at their home. With just pennies for a budget, Norman remembers charging her around 25 cents per boutonniere.
Over the past few decades, Norman continued to work with First Ladies Vicki Bawcom and Julie O’Rear and even earned some personal business from the Tanners (who preceded Parker's

presidency). Norman says it has been an honor serving his alma mater and four presidents and their wives.
Throughout his career, Norman built up an impressive list of accolades, including being named the 2001 Texas Designer of the Year, Austin Designer of the Year (twice, even though he never lived outside of Belton), Dallas Designer of the Year, and Central Texas Designer of the Year twice. He even helped Precious Memories, where he retired in March, earn Retail Florist of the Nation in 2007. "We were the smallest shop ever to win the award," he said. This summer, he was awarded

the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas State Florist Association—the highest honor given to an individual for service to the industry.
Shaking his head, Norman said, "It's simply unbelievable that a little kid from Belton, Texas, could do this."
But for Norman, being a florist isn't about winning awards.
"When you do an arrangement, you envision that you're doing it for your own mother. Those people deserve exactly what you would do for her. And that's the way I've always thought about it," he said. "Because you've got people at the highest points in their lives and the lowest points in their lives. It's a total ministry."
Even though Joshua Bailey loved UMHB with everything in him, due to finances, he was on the fence about returning his senior year.
Despite his family helping him pay for college his first three years, Joshua still had to take out a few student loans to pay the rest, and he didn’t want to add more to that balance. The longer he went to UMHB, the closer he drew to the Lord, and from a Biblical perspective, he felt the Lord telling him to avoid additional debt.
“I’ve read it my whole life in the Bible that the ‘borrower is slave to the lender.’ If you don’t have the money to pay for it now, then you shouldn’t do it.”
He prayed, “Lord, how am I going to be able to attend the university this last year?” Then, in an unexpected blessing, he got a phone call about three scholarships he received, which he had not even applied for.
“It was such a big thing this year of God providing for me and saying, ‘finish your degree.’”
Joshua walked across the graduation stage in May to receive his degree in small business and entrepreneurship. With an ambitious mind and a heart for the Lord, he has big plans to use his natural entrepreneurial skills to “make the world a better place” by equipping the homeless with life skills and teaching them about Jesus.
“That’s my purpose in life and that’s what we’re here to do is let more people know the name of Jesus Christ. I think there’s no purpose in anything if He’s not at the core of it.”
With the help of the money he received from scholarships to finish his last year of college, Joshua is thankful to donors who gave selflessly and said their gifts were “life-changing” for him.
“You have changed my life and helped spread the Gospel of Jesus through your generosity. This was a huge faith-builder for me, and I can’t express my gratitude in words. I am truly so thankful.”
