The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor offers nursing professionals like you the opportunity to earn a powerful degree while maintaining a full-time work schedule. The program is offered in a convenient hybrid format where students come to campus for classes one weekend each month, with additional interaction online during the days between. Under the guidance of our dedicated faculty, you will develop the skills you need to move into a new role as a nurse practitioner, nurse educator, or clinic administrator.

Our DNP program is designed to allow our students to maintain these priorities while earning their doctorate. We meet one weekend each month for classes, then let the students work on assignments according to their own schedules for the rest of the month. The DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE is a practice doctorate that prepares advanced practice nurses and nurse administrators as clinical scholars and nurse executives.

The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to be clinical scholars who will translate research into practice and design new models of care through research application in order to ensure the highest quality of care and health outcomes for patients, populations and organizations.

Genomics • Clinical Specialty Immersion Experiences Each semester of study includes courses to help you develop a scholarly project, where an intervention is designed for a practice-focused problem, the results are evaluated, and the project findings are disseminated. The project culminates in a presentation during your final semester of study, so there is no additional treatise to write after classwork is completed.

You will be assigned a faculty chair for your scholarly project whose practice interests align with yours, and that professor will mentor you and guide you throughout the process. Through your coursework, your professors will provide the personalized attention and instruction you need to succeed.

You and your fellow students will move through a sequence of courses that allows you to gradually build and expand your leadership skills. The cohort format and small class sizes ensure that you will get to know your fellow students as well as your professors. The atmosphere is collaborative rather than competitive, giving you a chance to learn from others’ experiences in a variety of educational and clinical settings.
