STUDY ABROAD

TAIWAN

FACULTY LED STUDY ABROAD TRIPS

SITE VISITS: Taipei Stock Exchange, Giant Bicycles, ASUS, and HTC. STUDENT EXPERIENCE: Met students from Tamkang University and National Taiwan Normal University and sat in on lectures.

JAPAN

SITE VISITS: Okinaya Sohonpo, a 6th Generation family owned Japenese sweets maker, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Ohmi-cho Fish Market, Textiles Plant, and Grand Sumo Tournament. STUDENT EXPERIENCE: Students met people from the mountain village of Hida-Osaka and visited with a local potter and stained glass artist to talk about how art related to entrepreneurship.

CHINA

SITE VISITS: Great Wall, Forbidden City, Beihai Park, Summer Palace, HuTong tour on tricycles, NIO Auto Company, Local pharmaceutical company, and local markets. STUDENT EXPERIENCE: Students travelled to different markets where they were surprised to see how some brands were positioned very differently in China as compared to the US.

INDIA

SITE VISITS: Northern India, Delhi, and the Taj Mahal STUDENT EXPERIENCE: Students experienced the business, innovation, and society of India. Scholarships available You recieve UM-Flint credit for the program Programs are typically 2 weeks or shorter Programs generally take place during the spring or summer terms

and living in that cultural environment is much more effective than textbooks and lectures. Through interactions with local people and observing their conducts and behaviors, students get a much deeper understanding of how cultural values shape people’s daily lives.
