Planned Gifts

We mourn the passing of several Foundation friends and donors in 2021. These visionaries made a difference in the life of the Foundation and their United Methodist Churches through their generosity of resources.

Richard Boisture (12/22/1927 - 10/8/2021) Dick Boisture and his late wife Fran created a Charitable Gift Annuity that provided income to them for life. When Dick passed this year, the CGA became an endowed fund that will support his church, Jennings UMC, forever.

Alma Beth Clark, Ph.D. (6/3/1923 - 12/28/2021) A.B. Clark redeemed matured savings bonds to establish a Charitable Gift Annuity. Now that her life has passed, income from her gift will help her childhood church, LeCompte UMC, in perpetuity.

Gloria Vining Hood (3/3/1930 - 10/29/2021) Gloria Hood created a Charitable Gift Annuity that enhanced her income for life. Now that she has gone to glory, the income from her gift will support her church, First UMC of Amite, and the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston, forever.

Kathleen Andrews Hunt (6/22/1950 - 4/20/2021) Kathy Hunt and her husband Bill used stock to create a Charitable Remainder Unitrust. When Kathy and Bill are both gone, their church, First UMC of Monroe, will receive income forever.

Mary Magee (4/14/1967 - 11/25/2021) Mary Magee was a dedicated member of the Foundation Board of Trustees and Grants Committee at the time of her passing, and a valuable member of Newman UMC of Alexandria. Before her untimely death, Mary made sure the ministries she cared for, such as the Foundation, were included in her estate plans.

Arthur Moles, D.D.S. (11/19/1923 - 8/13/2021) Dr. Moles was a member of University UMC of Baton Rouge since 1957. He already had included his church in his will, but he also created a Charitable Gift Annuity that provided extra income during retirement, and allowed him to make a larger gift than he ever thought possible. Dr. Moles’ planned giving efforts will support his church in perpetuity.

“For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”

Romans 14:8
