What is your current area of practice?

I am a rising fourth year (PGY-4) resident physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

What is your involvement in DOCS?

I have volunteered at the health fairs for the past 3 years and look forward to continuing this year.

What was your involvement with DOCS during medical school? How have you seen the organization evolve since your time as a medical student?

I was the Project Manager at a weekly free clinic DOCS used to have at Lotus House, and also served as a Co-Director and eventually was one of two student Directors of DOCS. I also loved serving as a volunteer at our health fairs and clinics, including the clinic at San Juan Bosco, My time working with DOCS as a medical student is something that I truly cherish, and it helped me to better understand the myriad barriers many patients face in receiving care. My time with DOCS continues to inform and guide my practice as a physician every day.

It has been so incredibly rewarding to see the evolution of this fantastic organization. I am especially excited about the growth of the clinics, the new initiatives to help people experiencing homelessness, and the amazing creativity and perseverance that allowed DOCS to continue and expand its mission during the pandemic. The achievements you all have made have exceeded my wildest dreams and expectations. I am truly thrilled to see all of the progress that you have made. I know how much time, effort and thought goes into making DOCS such a success, and I am so impressed by the efforts that you all have made. I look forward watching your continued success, but I truly thank you all so much for your fantastic work on behalf of patients.

What is your favorite part about your work with DOCS?

I love being able to spend time working with our amazing patients and volunteers. Cervical cancer prevention is a passion of mine, and being able to take time discussing this topic with patients and students is an incredible opportunity that I cherish.

What do you hope to see in coming years at the health fairs?

I look forward to continuing to serve patients throughout our community and expanding efforts in the areas of patient education and access to primary care. As I mentioned earlier, I am so proud of and impressed by all of the work that you have done and will continue to do. I look forward to the privilege of continuing to work with you all.
