WE NEED YOUR HELP! Researchers at the University of Maryland Infant and Child Studies Consortium are working hard to answer questions about how children think, hear, and learn.

BECOME PART OF OUR RESEARCH FAMILY TODAY! When your child reaches the right age for a study, a researcher will contact you about participating.

During the study, we observe how your child responds to new objects, events, or people. Our studies are fun for children and you are always nearby.

Parents enjoy being able to actively contribute to research, learn about child development, and play with their children in a relaxed environment.

JOIN US! We rely on local families in the greater D.C. metropolitan area to participate in our research on child development.

Our researchers span the departments of Psychology, Human Development, Hearing & Speech Sciences, and Linguistics. We study cognitive, social, language, and speech development in infants, preschoolers, and school-aged children.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How long will my study appointment last?

Many appointments last less than an hour, but we will discuss the expected length of the appointment with you when we get in touch!

Where will my visit take place?

At the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. Where will I park?

You will receive a free parking spot for your visit! For each appointment, we will provide specific directions to your designated spot.

Is there compensation?

All children will receive a small gift at the end of the study. Some studies do have monetary compensation.

Can I bring my other children?

Yes! We usually have free babysitting available- just let us know.

What is the age range to participate?

We have studies for children as young as three months and as old as 17 years.

Our offices are located in various buildings on campus at the University of Maryland in College Park. You will be directed to one of these buildings when you participate in a study.
