The Erickson School Of Aging Studies

The Erickson School at UMBC began with a vision to educate the next generation of aging services professionals. Our Management of Aging Services Program meets real-world demand as it helps our students to become innovative leaders who can improve society by enhancing the lives of older adults.

Social Work Program

The Baccalaureate Social Work Program at UMBC is part of the University of Maryland’s School of Social Work. We guide our students through a program that helps them build the skills and techniques they’ll need for a generalist practice focused on individuals, families, groups, and communities.

Individualized Study Program

Umbc At The Universities At Shady Grove

UMBC provides a unique environment for students to earn a degree in Montgomery County at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), where we offer a curated selection of programs. Students transferring from regional community colleges or four-year institutions will have access to UMBC’s best faculty, a dynamic learning environment, and individualized advising without commuting to Baltimore.

RAPTORS TO RETRIEVERS: TRANSFERRING TO UMBC-SHADY GROVE

If you’re studying at Montgomery College and you’d like to finish your degree at UMBC all while staying in Montgomery County, Raptor to Retriever (R2R) is a great opportunity. This special program gives Montgomery College students a clear pathway for earning an associate degree and then transferring seamlessly to UMBC-Shady Grove. It also offers benefits like an application fee waiver, membership in a peer network, and priority advising and registration.

There are so many resources in USG like the Writing Center and even a Counseling Center that offers free counseling and free family and couples counseling for students. I think that’s the most amazing aspect—it’s right there on campus.
