This is our Time The scriptures say that with God, all things are possible. And most assuredly, we have had ample opportunity to appreciate this wonderful promise over the past three years. What is scarcely possible today is to find the words to express the thankfulness we feel for the tremendous outpouring of generosity that has helped us not only reach, but exceed our fundraising goal for Phase 1 of our Vision 2030 capital campaign. When we embarked on this momentous project, it would have been perfectly understandable that those who heard the announcement might be skeptical. After all, what we proposed was staggering: to raise $96 million - $96 million! – for the opening phase of a capital campaign that dreamed of the caliber of growth that would make the University of Mary a magnet for students seeking an education for the whole of life. The goal of that most ambitious plan is to raise a beacon here on the prairies of North Dakota, one whose light will shine far and wide, beckoning seekers everywhere to discover the beauty and glory of Christian, Catholic and Benedictine education. We believe that this is our time - that we are perfectly positioned to offer the very finest values-based education to prepare students both academically and morally to become the next ‘Greatest Generation.’ Infusing the values of our faith-filled legacy into the classroom, the athletic field, from the dining hall to the residence hall - fosters students to go forward into a life that is about ‘more.’
Students today want meaning in their lives, a high and noble purpose to their days. They want a life that is about more than self. They desire a life that is filled with compassion for others, goodness to neighbor and stranger, and a desire to grow as leaders in the service of truth. To fully serve these students, we envisioned a world-class campus that serves all of our students’ needs, from beautiful places for worship and prayer, to welcoming places for fun and fellowship, programs built on a continual pursuit of excellence, faculty who are devoted to student wellbeing, and above all, a spiritual grounding that does not fail. And in those three short years, what marvels have been accomplished! Our friends, our donors, our alumni - all those amazing and generous supporters, have given abundantly, more than we could have hoped for. They saw our vision, they shared it, and they wanted to belong to those who leave a legacy that never ends. We will never forget the wonderful things we were able to do because of that legion of fellow visionaries surrounding us. They are daily in our prayers. And we are bold to say, we are continuing this journey into the next phase, assured that God is willing, eager, to give us even more than we can imagine. Our continuing legacy is service to the students who come to us. All that we dare and all that we do, is for them.

The University of Mary embarked on “Vision 2030,” a comprehensive strategic planning initiative, unanimously approved by its Board of Trustees. We engaged all of Mary’s constituents to think and work alongside us – alumni, current students, faculty, administration, community members, parents, donors and trustees, which gave rise to a new, robust strategic plan. Today we are pleased and humbled to announce that we have not only reached but surpassed our fundraising goal for Phase 1 of Vision 2030. It was a lofty goal and thanks to thousands of generous donors, friends, alumni and others, we are overjoyed to share that we have not only reached our goal of $96 million, but exceeded that goal. God has truly blessed the University of Mary!

With great excitement, the University of Mary achieved record enrollment in 2018, enrolling its largest-ever freshman class. Even before that, we knew our student growth meant that the university greatly needed additional residence hall space. The beautiful new Roers Hall welcomed 276 freshman women to make our campus their home. With décor in brilliant Marcel Breuer colors, halls brightened with glorious inspirational art work, and a beautiful chapel for prayer and meditation, Roers Hall is a welcoming and hospitable home for new students.

As the University of Mary continues to strengthen and expand its athletics offerings in NCAA Division II, we saw that a new fieldhouse was vital to allow University of Mary athletes to reach their fullest potential in a state-of-the-art facility that would allow hosting of more and bigger events and inspire athletes to compete at the highest level. Warford Grotto, dedicated to the university’s patroness, the Blessed Mother, welcomes students, faculty and community to immerse themselves in this sacred space for prayer, worship and reflection. As you are never outdone in generosity, Grant us the generosity and courage of Mary at the Annunciation That we might serve others in their religious, academic and cultural needs and nurture the lives entrusted to our care. So turn our hearts toward you That we would hear the call of your Son, Jesus, and respond to the gift of our vocation as the University of Mary at this time in our history. In that call and mission, grace us to give ourselves away courageously in love and to be a place of radiance, a generous source of warmth and light in relationships that animate others and in a living legacy of community, hospitality and respect. May we grow to a maturity measured by the fullness of Christ, and in the words of St. Benedict, may Christ bring us all together to everlasting life. Amen.
