The two-year MFA program is ideal for artists whose creative practice actively engages fields of inquiry in addition to art. With access to the vast research capabilities at the University of Michigan, MFA students have the resources they need to develop as artist/scholars and establish robust, meaningful connections across and among multiple disciplines. These broad, cross-disciplinary investigations are grounded by courses in contemporary art theory and criticism and close mentorship by world-renowned faculty. Work is made relevant through engagement in social practice strategies, a supported summer international project, and strong, ongoing professional development training that includes support for the transition from student to practicing professional artist.
