Most would likely agree that your company’s most valuable resource is its people, especially given the difficulty of finding applicants. The days of posting an ad and “they will come” are over. In a December 2021 poll of Utah Manufacturers, we found two-thirds of the polled company’s reported that the lack of applicants, or not showing up(ghosting) for the interview was the number one breakdown in the hiring process.
While it may be comforting that you are not alone, what is the solution? The answer is multi-faceted, involving everything from reducing attrition by improving company culture, to seeking new pools of candidates. The Utah-MEP Alliance is committed to helping with this #1 issue in any way we can.
We can help you retain your current employees using an extensive range of culture-enhancing training. These cover all stages of the employee lifecycle, including time-proven onboarding training, strategic talent planning, customized training for entry-level workers, leadership coaching and development, organizational structure, employee engagement, and succession planning.
The Utah-MEP Alliance also attended college and secondary Career Fairs across the state. Hundreds of students, of all majors, raised their hands that they would welcome a chance for a summer job, internship, or a full-time position in manufacturing.
