ULTISOL is a collective art zine by & for creatives in North Carolina.
North Carolina is home to many incredible artists, writers, and makers of all kinds, but our creative scene is often overlooked. The goal of this project is to help change that - hopefully, its existence will help facilitate collaborations, work, discussions, and artistic community.

I shoot digital and film photography and typically go for liminal spaces or environments that can look interesting with the right direction and lighting.

I have primarily been digital artist my entire life, focusing on character and zine work. However, the rise of AI and so many other invasive advances of technology have prompted me to swing back to analog media. Having something to hold, to feel, that can’t be so easily erased is the motivation for my current body of work.

My name is T and I am a poet based in Charlotte NC, for now :). I recently completed my M.A. in English and will be continuing my education as a PhD student. I live with my wife, our 2 dogs, and our 2 cats. I hope to one day teach creative writing.
i remember these nightsdamp grass dancing, poking our backs through the hand-stitched, moth-ball-scented quilt. prayer-weighted July air
carried the hum of the once silent cicada choir.
red clay stained my fingertips as the earth, like you,
offered me its secrets. the river did not ask why I stood there, the stones below
have no measure of what’s forbidden. the water knew how
to flow without fear. and now. now?
now, i walk on that river, and wonder where the wild has gonetrees don’t ask me to explain, they grow without the need to justify
their reaching toward God. have i forgotten
the way it feels to be held by the earth.

my name is mage. i like to organize shapes and colors with a certain dialogue. i like exploring the concept of time and identity within interior or framed spaces.

I am originally from the San Francisco bay area, and hold a masters of professional studies in digital photography from the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
My personal work includes explorations of the Self, where i aim to create work which peers behind the scenes of our place in the world. i love following my curiosities and treat photography as a memory holder, as an idea palace, as therapy, and as healer. I find a beauty in the seemingly mundane, and revel in how people inhabit their daily environment.
Currently I reside in Durham NC, and am a recipient of the 2023 North Carolina Arts Council Artist Support Grant, awarded through the Durham Arts Council.
