SENTATION

ter ULM 2026

Mister University of Louisiana Monroe

Vincent Winston

Before competing in this pageant, I wasn’t very involved on campus But winning this title changed that completely It pushed me out of my comfort zone and showed me how rewarding it is to get involved, meet new people, and be part of something bigger than myself

This past year has been filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable memories

Representing my peers and this university has been an incredible honor Whether I was wearing my crown and sash at an event or laughing with friends in the HUB, I learned that leadership isn’t about being perfect it’s about being present

Some of my favorite memories came from Prep Sessions with new Warhawks Seeing these students reminded me of when I first came to ULM unsure of what the future held, but full of hope Being able to welcome those students, ease their nerves, and share what makes this campus so special reminded me exactly why I love it here ULM isn’t just a university; it’s a family

I also want to highlight, my community service initiative: Cookies and Conversations What started as a fun excuse to bake became a way to create safe spaces to talk about mental health I’ve seen how a simple cookie and an open ear can make a real difference Sometimes the smallest things really do have the biggest impact

To my parents, my biggest supporters, thank you for always believing in me and making my dreams possible no matter how big or expensive they have been

To my friends, thank you for keeping me grounded, laughing with me, and always showing up when I needed you

To Lake, my Miss ULM, thank you for being such an incredible partner and friend You’ve taught me so much this year, and I’m proud of everything you ’ ve accomplished Keep soaring signed, Big Head

To my Work family Mrs Shonnie, Mrs Kristin, Mrs Alicia, Sidney, and my supervisor by chance but bestie by choice, Linda thank you for being my safe space Your encouragement, advice, and laughter got me through the busiest days

To my directors, Adrienne and Chris, thank you for guiding me, challenging me, reminding me to lead with confidence and humility and always ensuring we ’ ve got the coolest gear on campus You’ve gone above and beyond for Lake and me this year, and I’ll always be grateful for that

To CAB, thank you for always allowing me to jump in, lend a hand, and be a part of your amazing events You make campus life vibrant and welcoming for everyone

And to Dr Valerie Fields, thank you for your mentorship, wisdom, and constant support You’ve been a true example of leadership and grace, and I’m forever thankful

Though my reign as Mr ULM 2025 is ending, my love and involvement here will not This university has shaped me into the man I am today, and I’ll carry these lessons and memories with me wherever I go

To future Warhawks say yes to opportunities, even when they scare you Don’t be afraid to stand out Make the most of every moment, and when in doubt bring cookies

Crowning of Miss ULM 2026

ULM President Dr Carrie L Castille and Provost Dr Michelle McEacharn

Miss University of Louisiana Monroe

Lake Carpenter

I signed up for Miss ULM for the scholarship opportunities, but it has become so much more than that Being Miss University of Louisiana Monroe was a dream of mine because I knew it would change me, and it has I’m not the same girl who was crowned last fall; I’m more confident, mature, and well-rounded because of this experience

Serving as Miss ULM has stretched me in every direction I’ve grown through the big moments, like hosting ULM’s Holiday Tree Lighting, emceeing ULM’s Got Talent, and representing ULM at Miss Louisiana But also in the smaller ones, like talking with little kids or throwing the first pitch at a softball game Every appearance, big or small, shaped me

My community service initiative, We Are Family, focuses on normalizing different family structures; a message close to my heart I’ve had people tell me how seen and understood they’ve felt because of it, and that means everything I found my family at ULM, and it’s an honor to share that message with others: family doesn’t have to look traditional; what matters is love and support

Miss ULM is a preliminary to Miss Louisiana through the Miss America Organization: the largest scholarship provider for young women in the country I’m honored to return to the stage as Miss Louisiana Watermelon Festival, but also as a former Miss ULM and proud ULM student Representing this university has been a joy and a privilege

To ULM: thank you I will carry this year with me for the rest of my life
