One of my favorite times of the year is recruitment, as it marks the beginning of countless new journeys within our growing community. I became Greek during my junior year, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Joining my sorority helped open up many doors to leadership opportunities, connections on campus, and sisters who have supported me through every endeavor I have encountered. To anyone considering Greek life, I would encourage it; getting involved helped shape my experience as an undergrad and I wouldn’t change any of the experiences for anything in the world!

BROTHERHOOD & BROTHERHOOD & SISTERHOOD SISTERHOOD Greek life is an experience that one never forgets. Students find that their chapter members will have similar goals, values, and ideals. Having these things in common with the organization provides a sense of acceptance and belonging. Brothers and sisters will be there to share the college experience and stay close for years to come.

One of the most important aspects of joining a fraternity or sorority is the bond of brotherhood and sisterhood. There is a sense of unity and friendship among members of each chapter, as well as a feeling of Greek unity on campus.

The recruitment process introduces students to individuals who share common interests and form a cohesive group. It's often said, “Friendships developed in college will last a lifetime.”

ULM recognizes fourteen Greek organizations — four fraternities within the Interfraternity Council, three sororities within the College Panhellenic Conference, and seven sororities and fraternities within the National Pan-Hellenic Council — each of which is a campus chapter of a national group. Regardless of the fraternity or sorority a student chooses, membership in a Greek organization will enhance the collegiate experience. ULM’s Greek community invites all students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority to participate in the membership recruitment or membership intake process.

The purpose of college is to advance one's education and earn a degree. Greek-lettered organizations are committed to their fraternity and sorority value of academic achievement. Providing an atmosphere that fosters members' academic self-responsibility and accountability is of utmost importance. Each week, members of each Greek chapter are required to fulfill study hours to help encourage academic success and to create a balance between academics, extracurricular NPHC fraternities and sororities require at activities, chapter duties, and other least 12 credit hours of completed college responsibilities. course work, a 2.5 GPA, and attend GreekCollege Panhellenic Council ish.

Interfraternity Council

College Panhellenic requires a 2.5 grade point average for sorority recruitment. CPH sororities make membership selection decisions based on high school/college GPA. Typically, but not always, sororities require at least a 3.0 high school GPA and a 3.0 college GPA. In some rare instances, some exceptions are made.

IFC requires a 2.5 GPA to join a fraternity and some fraternities may have a higher requirement to join and/or maintain membership.

PHILANTHROPY & PHILANTHROPY & SERVICE SERVICE ULM Greeks are known for their commitment to philanthropy and community service. During the 2024-2025 school year, our Greek fraternities and sororities have fundraised and performed numerous community service events. This year, we plan to do even more.

Philanthropy and community service promote unity among members, cultivate an appreciation for difference, and build a proud sense of responsibility to help those in need.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL COUNCIL The National Pan-Hellenic Council, commonly known as the Divine Nine, is the governing council of 4 sororities and 5 fraternities on ULM's campus.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was founded on May 10, 1930, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. It serves as the umbrella organization for the historically, but not exclusively, black Greek-lettered organizations.

NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings, and other mediums for the exchange of information, and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.

NPHC at ULM is a great outlet for students. NPHC hosts events such as New Member Presentations, Stroll-Offs, and Step Shows, as well as a multitude of service opportunities. NPHC organizations participate in Move in Mania, Week of Welcome, Homecoming, and a number of other campussponsored events. Each organization provides a unique experience for students and contributes to the ULM community

BECOMING A BECOMING A STEP ONE: STEP ONE: GREEK-ISH NEW NEW MEMBER MEMBER

Any student interested in NPHC Greek Life should attend the mandatory Greek-ish event.

This event is compulsory for all students planning to participate in the intake process. Greek-ish is an amazing opportunity for students who are interested in learning more about NPHC fraternities and sororities at ULM. Greek-ish will take place once in both the fall and spring semesters. During this event, you will be given a document regarding hazing. The Greek Life office must have this document signed and on file.

STEP TWO: STEP TWO: LOOKOUT NPHC organizations at ULM recruit members through a process called Membership Intake.

NPHC fraternities and sororities will individually announce their membership selection/intake process during the semester and will explain their membership process at the initial informational meeting. NPHC organizations decide on having intake each semester and there is no guarantee that intake will take place on a regular schedule. It is highly recommended that interested students research each fraternity or sorority carefully and attend events sponsored by the respective chapters and NPHC as a whole.

STEP THREE: STEP THREE: MEMBERSHIP INTAKE Generally, the membership intake process begins with an informational meeting. At the informational meeting, interested students learn more about a specific organization and the details of the application process for that organization. After the informational meetings, potential members or aspirants are asked to complete a membership application and show proof that they have achieved the organization's minimum standards for academics, community service, and leadership. Following the submission of an application, interviews, and selections will take place.

The Eta Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was charted by 16 great men on March 3, 1972. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence while providing service and advocacy for our communities.

The objectives of Alpha Phi Alpha are to stimulate the ambition of its members, prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the causes of humanity, freedom, and dignity of the individual, to encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood, and to aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status.

Eta Chi’s community service centers around Alpha Phi Alpha’s four national programs: Go-toHigh-School, Go-to-College, Project Alpha, A Voteless People is a Hopeless People, and Brother's Keeper.

ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA ALPHA SORORITY, SORORITY, INC. INC. THETA ZETA THETA ZETA CHAPTER CHAPTER

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s purpose is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of, "Service to All Mankind."

Chapters focus on leading on the frontlines of change, education, and advocacy through programming and service opportunities.

The Theta Zeta chapter was chartered on the campus of Northeast Louisiana University on December 1, 1973. Theta Zeta is known for its informational PreTEA Wednesdays, where they inform students on ULM’s campus about different awareness months at least once every month.

They also were the first organization to start a Professional Program forum, to inform students on all the professional programs that ULM has to offer. Theta Zeta chapter continues to serve in numerous community service projects on campus and in the community.

KAPPA ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA PSI PSI FRATERNITY, FRATERNITY, INC. INC. ETA PI ETA PI CHAPTER CHAPTER

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.'s purpose is ACHIEVEMENT in every field of human endeavor. Since its founding by ten young men, their fraternity has never limited membership based on color, creed, or national origin. Kappa Alpha Psi is a major contributor in the fields of political, social, cultural, and scholastic achievement.

The undergraduate chapter was chartered on November 17, 1974 and has produced many brothers who have achieved in every field of human endeavor. The fraternity strives to unite college men of culture, patriotism, and honor in a bond of fraternity; to encourage honorable achievement; to promote the spiritual, social, intellectual, and moral welfare of its members; to assist the aims of colleges and universities; and to inspire service in the public interest.

OMEGA PSI OMEGA PSI PHI PHI FRATERNITY, FRATERNITY, INC. INC. MU LAMBDA MU LAMBDA CHAPTER CHAPTER

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University, by undergraduates Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Cooper, and Frank Coleman with the help of their faculty advisor, Earnest E. Just. From the initials of the Greek phrase meaning "friendship is essential to the soul," the name Omega Psi Phi was derived. The phrase was selected as the motto.

Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift were adopted as cardinal principles.

Observing over 45 years of Mu Lambda's existence, the chapter celebrates its cardinal principles to eternity and continues to serve in key parts of the community.

DELTA SIGMA DELTA SIGMA THETA THETA SORORITY, SORORITY, INC. INC. LAMBDA RHO LAMBDA RHO CHAPTER CHAPTER

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The Lambda Rho chapter was chartered on October 26, 1974, on the campus of Northeast Louisiana University. The eleven illustrious women set out to spread the works of Delta Sigma Theta on NLU’s campus in hopes of bringing awareness to areas of physical and mental health, educational development, economic development, international awareness, and lastly political awareness and involvement.

The Lambda Rho Chapter of DST maintained the highest Greek GPA on campus for eight consecutive semesters while presumptively participating in extracurricular activities and events.

PHI BETA PHI BETA SIGMA SIGMA FRATERNITY, FRATERNITY, INC. INC. KAPPA KAPPA KAPPA KAPPA CHAPTER CHAPTER

The Kappa Kappa Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on April 7, 1978, on the campus of Northeast Louisiana University. Since then, the chapter has been fully active on campus and dedicated to giving back and educating the community. Some of the events the chapter hosts include financial stability seminars, mental heath forums, sexual health awareness discussions, game nights that promote bonding, and much more. Aside from events thrown on campus, the chapter partakes in an Adopt-A-School education program every week at Jack Hayes Elementary and an Adopt-A-Road cleanup project every other Saturday. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and the March of Dimes, one of the fraternity’s national philanthropies, have been collaborating with each other to aid mothers and children throughout the country since the 1980s. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. will continue to support the campus and community by way of our principles brotherhood, scholarship, and service.

The Beta Theta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered by 5 noble women on February 13, 1977 on the campus of NLU. We practice the principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood and FINER womanhood. We believe that all is conquered through labor. Beta Theta prides ourselves with service promoting Eldercare by visiting Veterans Homes and Nursing Homes, as well as servicing children at Adopt A School events and hosting a variety of on and off campus community events alongside with our graduate chapter.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.'s mission is to enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service, civil action, and social action. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is the only sorority of the National PanHellenic Council that was founded at a predominantly white institution. The sorority has a proud history of providing positive and proactive community outreach nationally and internationally. Their goal is to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, health, awareness, and leadership development. The members, affiliates, staff, and community partners work collectively to create and support initiatives that align with the sorority's vision - Greater Service, Greater Progress. The Kappa Theta Chapter is one of the most active service organizations on ULM's campus.

On September 19, 1963, at Morgan State College (now Morgan State University), 12 students founded the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.. They established the following purpose: “The development and perpetuation of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood among Men.” As Iota Phi Theta continues to grow and strengthen, so will its commitment to make meaningful contributions to society in general, with particular emphasis on the African-American community.

Throughout America, Iota Phi Theta has come to represent excellence in all areas. The Fraternity is, and shall forever remain dedicated to its founders’ vision of Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One.

COLLEGE PANHELLENIC COLLEGE PANHELLENIC COUNCIL COUNCIL TThe College Panhellenic Conference (CPC) is the governing body of 4 sororities on ULM's campus. As valuesbased organizations, the 4 members of NPC live their missions, with their members providing millions of dollars in philanthropic support to dozens of worthy causes and pursuing millions of additional hours in community service.

CPC also supports a national network of collegiate and alumnae Panhellenic associations that are crucial to nurturing healthy fraternity and sorority communities. GAMMA CHIS GAMMA CHIS 2026 Gamma Chis

Recruitment counselors, referred to as Gamma Chi’s, are sorority women who have disaffiliated from their chapters to help in the recruitment process. All Gamma Chis have to participate in recruitment themselves, both as a PNM and as an active member.

Gamma Chis have to help students who go through recruitment to make the best decision based on values and interests to make the Greek life experience enjoyable.

PHI MU PHI MU

ALPHA RHO ALPHA RHO CHAPTER CHAPTER Phi Mu Fraternity of Alpha Rho was the first Greek organization founded on ULM's campus in 1956. Phi Mu was founded on three ideals: love, honor, and truth which is still carried out today after 170 years of sisterhood. Phi Mu is a women’s organization that provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence, and lifelong friendships. Phi Mu’s national philanthropy is Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The chapter holds multiple fundraising events throughout the school year to raise money for the children receiving treatment at CMN hospitals. Phi Mu is also dedicated to being active and giving back to our community; chapter members have participated in many community service projects here in Monroe. You can find Phi Mu members involved in many campus organizations including serving on SGA, 31 Ambassadors, and ULM Honors Program. Phi Mu is very proud of all they have accomplished this school year. ALPHA OMICRON ALPHA OMICRON PI PI LAMBDA TAU LAMBDA TAU CHAPTER CHAPTER

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on the ideals of character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. All members of the Fraternity, collegiate and alumnae, are expected to live these values to the fullest and carry the spirit of AOII into the world around them. Whether you meet an AOII in class, throughout recruitment, off campus, or even after graduation, she is sure to bring light to your life. Members of the Fraternity are called to carry themselves with confidence as they represent our organization and treat everyone they meet with the utmost respect. AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals.

Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable. The emphasis on these pursuits was instilled by the four founding members of AOII in 1897, and this commitment remains a strong part of AOII today. Members of AOII are also called to not only serve their chapters and the Fraternity as a whole, but also to be of service to their communities and universities. Whether they are raising money for the Arthritis Foundations representing the chapter on Homecoming or Mardi Gras Court, serving as a Student Government Senator, or acting as a CAB Officer, our members are excelling as leaders on their college campuses and far beyond.

KAPPA DELTA KAPPA DELTA

DELTA ZETA DELTA ZETA CHAPTER CHAPTER Kappa Delta was founded in 1897 by four women at a small university in Virginia. Since then, Kappa Delta Sorority has grown into a national organization for women committed to providing opportunities and experiences that promotes personal and professional growth for a lifetime. In 1967, the Delta Zeta chapter of Kappa Delta was founded on ULM’s campus. Members have gained friendships, mentors, role models, and a community among the women who are members of this chapter both past and present. Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) and Girl Scouts of the USA are Kappa Delta’s two national philanthropies. Through events with Girl Scouts, members are able to build confidence in the girls of our community and see firsthand the impact they make in the lives of girls. Each year, the chapter hosts a Shamrock 5K to raise money for PCAA and the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. On top of having the Highest GPA of Greek Life, Kappa Delta encourages its members to excel both within the chapter as well as on campus in other organizations.

Members are participants in a variety of organizations including PREP Staff, Mardi Gras Court, Homecoming Court, Campus Activities Board, and Student Government Association.

INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body for 4 fraternities on ULM's campus. This council establishes guidelines for managing the processes and activities of these chapters.

The purpose of the council is to promote unity among the individual chapters, to facilitate relations between the Greek community and the University; and to see that the fraternities follow all rules, policies, and regulations passed by the council. The council also provides leadership and structured programs for fraternity growth and development. @ULM_IFC

KAPPA ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA ORDER ORDER GAMMA NU GAMMA NU CHAPTER CHAPTER

We are the Gamma Nu Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order. Kappa Alpha Order (commonly known as Kappa Alpha, KA, or "the Order") is a social fraternity and fraternal order. The Order has more than 150,000 initiated members. The members of Kappa Alpha Order pride themselves on a tradition of chivalry and of the values of the gentleman such as REVERENCE - God and women, GENTILITY - chivalry and respect for all, KNOWLEDGE - Continuous lifelong learning, LEADERSHIP - development of character, BROTHERHOOD - faithful unto death, and EXCELLENCE - always aiming higher. This is reminiscent of a romanticized version of the Knights of the Crusades.

This all culminates into a modern college fraternal experience. A member of the Kappa Alpha Order strives to offer reverence to both God and women, as described in the motto. Further, the idea that "Excellence is our Aim" further emboldens members to always apply themselves to self-improvement, realizing that you should always continue to strive for excellence. Finally, being that the organization is an Order, members typically have an idea of the above values before joining. Kappa Alpha does not intend to change anyone, but rather bond together those men who have similar values so that they may experience brotherhood, and pursue improvement, with one another.

ETA OMICRON ETA OMICRON CHAPTER CHAPTER Our Pike Chapter at ULM was founded in 1972 and has remained dedicated to developing men of integrity, intellect, success and high moral character, and to fostering a truly lifelong fraternal experience. Our brothers continue to have a positive impact on their campuses, their communities and throughout their life and we believe that the right fraternal experience makes better men, better friends, better husbands and fathers and better citizens. The ULM Pikes are leaders on campus and within the community with highlights including being named the All-University Athletic Champions, earning a 3.14 grade point average last year, we are the largest Greek organization at ULM, and are heavily involved in the ULM Campus and area community. In Northeast Louisiana the ULM Pikes assist the Ronald McDonald House, Munchkin Market, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Day, Krewe of Janus, Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo and more donating our time to those in need. On campus you will find Pikes on the PREP Staff, SGA, 31 Ambassadors, PPO, PDC, honor societies and more. We have an outstanding social calendar which is balanced with our brothers academic responsibilities. Our fraternity has been internationally recognized as one of the top Pike Chapters in North America for 29 of the last 33 years and we expect this year to bring the same outstanding results. Kappa Sigma of ULM was chartered on May 6th, 1967 under the four pillars of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. We first look to establish a brotherhood of exceptional men that will not last for a day, or an hour, or a college term only, but for life.

Secondly, we promote Leadership throughout campus.

Our brothers excel in their professional programs, Student Government Association, PREP Staff, Hawkseekers, religious groups, and other programs on campus and in the community. We believe that Scholarship is the key to success. We hold our brothers accountable for their grades and look to promote success in their journey as undergraduate students. Lastly, we take great pride in our Service to the community. Two of our larger philanthropies include the Military Heroes Campaign, a philanthropic organization founded by Kappa Sigma in 2007 to support military veterans and their families, and our annual Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation fundraiser. Whether it be working in our community or working from home during the shutdown, the men of Kappa Sigma work hard on bettering the campus and community under the firm belief that you cannot quarantine brotherhood.

The Zeta Pi chapter of Delta Sigma Phi strives to mold young men into better men. We are a chapter of 40+ members in a variety of majors and other RSOs such as CAB, SGA, and 31 Ambassadors. We pride ourselves in our diversity, our men are not only from Louisiana and the United States, but also from Bonaire, Honduras, Nepal, and China. Above all else, we value culture, harmony, and friendship. We are men who set the standard for excellence and aim to provide the best, lifelong experience for our members – shaping the lives of others.

Delta Sigs are leaders, scholars, and gentlemen, sought after by civic, business, and professional leaders.
