Our University’s Blackfoot name is Iniskim, meaning Sacred Buffalo Stone. We honour the Blackfoot people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Aboriginal peoples who have helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community. In the spirit of reconciliation and in respect for being on traditional Blackfoot lands, the Dhillon School of Business includes Blackfoot words and translations used to describe our core values.

The School’s revised mission, vision and values are intended to expand the DSB traditions of innovation, integration, internationalization, engagement and discovery. We have continued our work in indigenization, and developing a shared understanding of the importance of reconciliation in creating the leaders and professionals of tomorrow.

During a year-long consultative process, the School assessed the strategic initiatives of our previous strategic plan and created a more focused plan with priorities reflecting the revised mission, vision and values.

The School's revised mission-driven strategic initiatives will guide the School in emphasizing engagement, innovation and impact. For example, initiative one advances the School's aspiration to improve equity, diversity and inclusion across the current curriculum and immerse these principles in any new programming. When fully achieved, this initiative will have added a rich dimension of diversity to our curriculum, engaged disadvantaged communities, and reduced barriers for underrepresented populations.

Evolve existing curricula and create new programs to support strategic directions
