What You’ll Study Human Resource Management is the study of people at work and the activities associated with recruitment and selection, training and development, retention, and occupational health and safety. A key component is Organizational Behaviour, which examines leadership, motivation, employee attitudes and productivity. Labour Relations is the study of how employers and employees work together to create a fair workplace. As an HR/LR major, you’ll choose from a broad array of courses, customizing your studies to fit your interests and career goals. You’ll develop a solid foundation of knowledge and practical skills, learning from experts in small, interactive classroom environments. Professional Certification Increasingly, HR/LR specialists pursue professional credentials after graduation – most frequently the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation. As an HR/LR grad, you’ll have the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue a professional designation. GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR HR/LR MAJOR Research Methodology (MGT 2700) as early as possible, as it provides a foundation for the senior-level courses. • U of L offers a wide variety of electives, not all of which are offered every term.
