I am delighted to report positive and healthy news about our credit union.

Today’s reality with inflation, Covid 19, climate change and the war in Ukraine most certainly has directly impacted the lives of many of our members.

Я радий повідомити позитивні та корисні новини про нашу кредитну спілку. Сьогоднішня реальність — інфляція, Covid-19, зміна клімату, війна в Україні — безумовно, безпосередньо вплинула на життя багатьох наших членів.

It is becoming more challenging to adjust and compete for our family’s economic independence. Despite many distractions and negative life events, we have succeeded in providing excellent results in growing our financial institution and gaining new membership.

There are approximately 86,000 credit unions in the world of which five thousand are in the United States and 322 are in Ukraine. There are 13 Ukrainian/American Credit Unions in the US and the largest one is Self-Reliance New York. Our Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU) is the fifth largest in ranking according to asset size and second in membership.

Our credit union is a nonprofit financial services organization.

We offer the same services as a bank, but there is one major difference. Unlike banks that must make money and please their shareholders, our credit union shares our earnings with our members. That is not the only benefit you receive as our member but also the aggregate benefit of lower fees, personal and business financial services, online & mobile digital banking, customer service, National Credit Union Administration insurance and community outreach and support.

Our financial record for this past year was excellent showing gains in total shares, assets, and net worth. We had a record year for loan distributions with minimal effect on net charge offs and delinquency offsets. Percentage wise, our asset growth was 9.06%, net worth growth 12.12%, share growth 7.77%, loan growth 13.71% and we increased our membership to 22,870 members year end. Financially our credit union is safe, posting a net worth of $28.8M net worth year end 2021.

Our dedicated volunteer board of directors working with management monitored and updated our strategic plan to stay current with the month-to-month challenges presented during the year. We kept our operating expenses lower than our peers while providing higher salaries to our employees. We introduced new digital solutions to members while ensuring enhanced information security systems and remote access. UFCU promoted online channels where over 14,000 members use this service and over 22,000 checks were deposited via our mobile app.

UFCU is the backbone of many communities that we serve across the United States. Every one of our thirteen branches across the country shares and supports the unique common bond experience that these geographic regions offer. Throughout the past year, we conducted special meetings with community leaders, members, and business representatives. We openly engaged them in offerings of SBA Paycheck Protection Program loans, Consulate Visitations, Federal Home Loan Bank Grant Distributions, and New Common Bond Expansion Proposals.

It was an exceptionally good year for UFCU, and it would not be possible without the help of our credit union family working as a unified team! Thank you volunteer board of directors, supervisory committee members, common bond branch advisory members, scholarship committee members, UFCU Foundation, our CEO, staff, and front-line workers. A special THANK YOU to You, our valued members for your business, trust, and continued support.

I would like to personally thank our CEO Oleg Lebedko, for his extraordinary leadership throughout these past challenging years where he successfully managed our credit union’s success along with supporting our common bond member activities and in addition providing support to our volunteer board, audit, and community foundation activities. Also, a warm congratulations on his recent appointment as Honorary Consul of Ukraine representing our Western NY area.

Цей рік був надзвичайно вдалим для УФКС. Проте це було б неможливо без допомоги всієї нашої великої родини, яка працює в кредитній спілці як єдина команда! As I write this report in 2022, the war in Ukraine is on the minds of UkrainianAmericans – many of us have families and friends in Ukraine, and they are all in our thoughts and prayers.

UFCU, its Foundation, our employees, volunteers and members do a lot of humanitarian work to help Ukraine and its people during these difficult times.

But last year, COVID pandemic and its consequences continued to be the main news. Even though businesses across the country faced many restrictions, our Ukrainian Federal Credit Union successfully managed all the challenges and achieved successful financial results for the year.

Loans grew by 13.71%, fueled by demand for real estate and commercial vehicle loans. In addition, over $10 million of mortgages were disbursed and sold on secondary market. Thanks to our partnership with Federal Home Bank of New York, the credit union was able to offer grants up to $10,000 to qualified first-time home buyers, as well as low-rate loans for small-business owner-operators. We continued to capitalize on the low interest rate environment to secure a record amount of new residential mortgage loans and grew our HELOC portfolio as well - our loan personnel originated a total of 269 mortgages in the amount of over $60 million.

Коли я пишу цей звіт у 2022 році, на думці в усіх українців Америки – війна в Україні. У багатьох із нас родини та друзі в Україні, і всі ми думками і молитвами з ними. УФКС, її Фундація, наші співробітники, волонтери та члени надають велику гуманітарну допомогу, щоб підтримати Україну та її народ в ці важкі часи. Проте минулого року головною новиною продовжувала бути пандемія COVID та її наслідки. Незважаючи на те, що підприємства по всій країні зіткнулися з багатьма обмеженнями, наша Українська федеральна кредитна спілка успішно впоралася з усіма викликами та досягла видатних фінансових результатів за рік. Кредити зросли на 13,71%, що викликано поверненням попиту на кредити для придбання нерухомості та комерційного транспорту. Крім того, понад 10 мільйонів доларів було видано на іпотечні кредити на вторинному ринку. Завдяки партнерству з Federal Home Bank of New York наша кредитна спілка змогла запропонувати гранти на суму до 10 000 доларів тим, хто придбав житло вперше, а також кредити за низькою ставкою для власників-менеджерів малого бізнесу. Ми продовжували збільшувати капітал за рахунок низьких процентних ставок і отримали рекордну кількість нових іпотечних кредитів, а також розширили наш портфель кредитних ліній для придбання житла – загалом наші кредитні інспектори видали 269 іпотечних кредитів на суму понад 60 мільйонів доларів.

Deposits increased by 7.77%, and total assets grew to $341.8 million, an increase of 9.06% year over year. Increased loan interest revenue, control over expenses, as well as additional refunds from the National Credit Union Administration for the 2008-2010 corporate credit union losses, contributed to UFCU’s record net income of $3,161,281 for the year.

Membership also continued growing, reaching 22,870, with our California, Washington, North Carolina and Ohio branches being the leaders in attracting new members. One additional common bond organization in our newest market – Charlotte, NC, joined our field of membership. We continued expanding our branch network, with initial stages of branch development in South Carolina and Florida. With many of our members moving to other states, we wanted to remind that UFCU can provide mortgages in almost all states, and our online/mobile offerings and shared branching/ATM network allows you to conduct your banking business from anywhere.

In addition to helping our members achieve financial success, UFCU continued to play an important role in our community by helping individuals and organization weather the consequences of the pandemic. In 2021, our credit union obtained from Federal Home Bank of New York and distributed additional $150,000 to eligible non-profits in New York State, in addition to $200,000 distributed in 2020, for the total amount of $350,000 to 70 organizations. UFCU contributed to our UAC Foundation to fund the Scholarship program to our student members. Despite the pandemic restrictions our communities from coast to coast recognized the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, and UFCU was embedded in many of celebrations.

As we move past 2021 and all the difficulties of the past few years, I can report that your financial cooperative remains financially well positioned. The credit union size as measured by total assets increased by 9.1% to $341.8 million. Loan growth was exceptionally solid with loan balances increasing $33.7 million or 13.7% to $279.4 million.

In 2021, UFCU served 22,870 members through online transactions, shared branching and in our 13 branches located throughout the country. UFCU continued to support our communities through lending of $26.4M in church loans and $29.3M in commercial loans.

Church loans represented 9.4% and commercial loans represented 10.5% of our portfolio. Another leading contributor to our loan growth is the increase in the credit union’s mortgage loan portfolio as well as new and used auto loans, which grew by 16.3% and 15.2% respectively. Historically low mortgage rates resulting in a boom of refinance applications, combined with highly competitive new and used auto rates in our markets, were contributing factors to the gains in the lending portfolio for 2021.

UFCU continued to add capital in 2021 by earning over $3.2 million in net income. Our credit union continues to be considered “wellcapitalized” as measured by the NCUA with a net worth ratio at year-end of 8.45%. This measure represents a high level of safety and soundness and offers an added protection to the possibility of any unforeseen losses. Credit unions with a Net Worth ratio of greater than 7% are considered “Well Capitalized” by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Your credit union remains strong and well capitalized for the future. Additionally, net worth provides UFCU the capacity to offer new and enhanced future services, an extensive branch network, as well as the opportunity to support strong future growth.

Report from the Supervisory Committee DR. GEORGE HAJDUCZOK | CHAIR SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE

This past September 2021, the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU) Board appointed its Supervisory Committee for the coming year. The board reappointed three regular past-committee members and the committee chair for another term. George Hajduczok was reappointed as chair, while Olga Bilokin, Vasiliy Gritsuta, and Rostislav Melnik continued their service to the committee.

The Board also expanded the committee membership by appointing an additional member from our Portland Branch, Ihor Levkiv. Ihor comes to us with a background in design engineering. We welcome Ihor to the Supervisory Committee and look forward to working together!

Since the Covid-19 pandemic still presented various logistical challenges with social distancing and virtual communications, the committee held its own separate meetings as noted in the committee minutes, and met with the board throughout the year virtually. The plan of work was completed and all communications and prescribed written reports were posted to the secure UFCU Basecamp page to ensure that UFCU is in compliance with the Federal Credit Union Act, the rules and regulations of the NCUA, and UFCU’s own bylaws.

The Supervisory Committee conducted a thorough and recurring set of audits throughout the past year that show the Credit Union currently is financially strong and well managed. The committee audit responsibilities included contracting with an Internal Auditor to establish an audit rotation of key areas and submitted reports on compliance requirements for the Credit Union. The results of the Bank Secrecy Act audit and a number of other audits were reviewed as positive for both our internal and external network controls and information security. The committee continued the contract with the internal auditor, which was approved in December 2021. The continuing internal audit review process has provided management and the board with significant feedback about the policies and procedures in place to maintain our member security.

A professional auditing firm, Bonadio & Co. LLP, served as an external auditor to review UFCU’s financial statements for the year ending 2021. The Credit Union received an unqualified opinion statement from the external auditors in March 2021, and the committee was provided a statement that the yearly verification of 12 |

member accounts had been performed. The recommendations of the yearly audit were formally submitted to UFCU management, and the committee followed up with management for responses to the recommendations stated in the audit. The results of that audit stated that the overall quality of the Credit Union’s financial reporting was presented fairly in all material respects and conformed to the accounting principles generally accepted (GAAP) in the United States of America.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is the independent federal agency that insures deposits at federally insured credit unions and protects the members who own credit unions and regulates federal credit unions. The NCUA completed and submitted its examination of the Credit Union March 2021. The Supervisory Committee Chair met virtually with the NCUA officials to discuss its role, obligations and activities. The committee is happy to report that no significant deficiencies were noted.

In addition to reviewing all the professional audits, the Supervisory Committee also conducted quarterly closed accounts reviews in conjunction with COO Tanya Dashkevich. The committee has maintained open lines of communication to resolve member concerns and correspondences through a separate mailing address and a published member-contact, online address. The committee again was able to fulfill the assigned fiduciary responsibilities in a timely fashion, and is giving its full support to the current board and management. The Supervisory Committee stands ready to aid in the resolution of any member inquiries that may arise during the 2022 calendar year with the hope that operations will continue to return to some vestige of normalcy as the Covid-19 pandemic comes to an end.

Report from the Community Relations Committee BOHDAN ZAKHARCHYSHYN & YAROSLAV FATYAK | COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS

During the 2021 reporting year the Community Relations Committee (CRC) conducted its activities in accordance with the regulations and standards approved by the Board of Directors of the Federal Credit Union.

The work of the committee was aimed at maintaining the positive image of the Credit Union and promoting growth of membership and assets. Thanks to the successful work of the Board of Directors and Management, our Credit Union grew and excelled in the areas of security and reliability of membership services.

Communities and organizations were and are an integral part of our great cooperative family. The growth of Credit Union membership and its future depends on cooperation with them. Advisory Committees are established in the areas of our branches, which are made up of members of local, cultural, and religious organizations.

Thanks to advisory committees, the Board of Directors and Executive Team are better informed about the life and needs of communities.

2021 was a year of great volatility and unique challenges for our members. The COVID-19 virus continued to have a negative impact on economic development, fundamentally changing social and community life. Religious, youth, sports, and community organizations were forced to cancel their events and programs and look for new forms of communication and social activity.

Understanding the importance of cooperation with organizations, the Board of Directors of the Credit Union sought opportunities and always tried to financially support communities where our Credit Union branches existed. Per the recommendations of the advisory committees, CRC, and the Board of Directors of the Credit Union, significant funds were allocated to address the needs of the communities. Due to the timely and professional actions of the Executive Team and Management of the Credit Union in the 2021 reporting year it was possible to receive a grant from the FHLB (Federal Home Loan Bank of New York) for nonprofit organizations headquartered in New York in the amount of $150,000. Community, religious, educational, and charitable organizations in the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany areas received critical financial support.

During the reporting period the CRC coordinated cooperation between the Credit Union and the Consulate General of Ukraine in the U.S. for the benefit of the membership of our cooperative family.

While complying with all CDC requirements, the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York twice visited Rochester to provide consular services. The Consular Department at the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington D.C. also conducted consular services for communities near our branches including Charlotte, North Carolina and Parma, Ohio. In addition, the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco conducted on-site consular services for members of our community in the area of Seattle, Washington.

The CRC sincerely thanks all volunteers for their efforts for the benefit of our cooperative family. We invite active members, especially representatives of the younger generation of our Credit Union, to participate in the work of our committees.

Thank you for the collaborative effort between the Board of Directors, Management, and employees of the Credit Union. We’d like to thank our common bond organizations for being with us and trusting us. Only together will we grow and prosper in the future.

Комітет Зв‘язків з Громадою БОГДАН ЗАХАРЧИШИН І ЯРОСЛАВ ФАТЯК | СПІВГОЛОВИ КОМІТЕТУ

Протягом звітного 2021-го року Комітет Зв‘язків з Громадою проводив свою діяльність згідно положень і нормативів, затверджених Радою Директорів Федеральної Кредитної Спілки. Робота Комітету була направлена на підтримку позитивного іміджу Кредитної Спілки та сприяння росту членства та активів. Завдяки успішній праці Дирекції і Менеджменту наша Кредитна Спілка пройшла ще один етап зростання безпеки та надійності обслуговування членства. Невід‘ємною частиною нашої Великої Кооперативної Родини були і є громади і громадські організації . Саме від співпраці з ними залежить ріст членства нашої Спілки та її майбутнє. У філіях Кредитної Спілки створені дорадчі комітети, члени яких представляють місцеві громадські, культурні і релігійні організації. Завдяки дорадчим комітетам, Дирекція і Менеджмент більше інформовані про життя і потреби громад.

2021 рік був роком великих потрясінь і особливостей для нашого членства. Вірус Covid-19 продовжував негативний вплив на розвиток економіки, докорінно змінив суспільне і громадське життя. Релігійні, молодіжні, спортивні, громадські організації на місцях змушені були скасовувати свої події і програми, шукати нові форми спілкування і суспільної активності . Розуміючи важливість співпраці з організаціями на місцях, Дирекція Кредитної Спілки знаходила можливість і завжди старалась фінансово підтримувати громади, де відчинені філії нашої Спілки. За рекомендаціями місцевих дорадчих комітетів, Комітету зв’язків з громадою , Рішеннями Ради Директорів нашої Спілки у звітньому 2021 році на потреби громад було виділено значні кошти фінансової допомогти. Своєчасні і професійні дії Менеджменту Кредитної Спілки в звітному 2021 році дозволили отримати грант FHLB банку для неприбуткових організацій штату Нью- Йорк в розмірі 150 тисяч доларів. Громадські , релігійні, освітні, благодійні організації околиць Бафало, Рочестер, Сиракюз і Олбані отримали необхідну фінансову допомогу.

Комітет зв‘язків з Громадою в звітньому періоді координував програму співпраці Кредитної Спілки з Дипломатичними Представництвами України в США на благо членства нашої Кооперативної Родини. При дотриманні всіх санітарних вимог і правил було двічі проведено в місті Рочестер Виїздні Консульські обслуговування наших громадян Генеральним Консульством України, що розташоване в Нью-Йорку. Департаментом Консульської Служби Посольства України в Вашінгтоні проводились виїзні Консульські обслуговування громадян в приміщеннях наших філій в містах Шарлот, Північна Кароліна та Парма, штат Огайо. Також Генеральним Консульством України в Сан Франциско було проведено виїзне Консульське обслуговування громадян в приміщенні нашої філії в Сіетлі, штат Вашінгтон. Комітет зв‘язків з Громадою щиро дякує всім волонтерам на місцях за добровільну працю на благо нашої Кооперативної Родини. Запрошуємо активних членів нашої Спілки для участі в роботі комітетів, будемо раді представникам молодого покоління. Дякуємо за співпрацю Дирекції Кредитної Спілки, Менеджменту та працівникам. Report from the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation DR. EVHEN LYLAK | PRESIDENT

Over the past eleven years, the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation (UACF), Inc. established by the Ukrainian FCU (UFCU) in 2010, has awarded over $173,350 in undergraduate and graduate scholarships.

Additionally, the UACF has donated more than $146,845 to a variety of community, cultural, humanitarian, and educational initiatives. In November 2021, the UACF published a collection of poetry dedicated to the memory of Wolodymyr (Mirko) Pylyshenko, who initiated the project over ten years ago. The book, titled “Thoughts without Limits” (Думки без Меж), was published by UACF in Ukrainian and English through the dedicated efforts of the Publication Committee Members: UACF President Evhen Lylak, Iryna Kaznovska, Christine Wagenblass, Oksana Lukaszewycz-Polon, Ivan Khrushch, Tamara Denysenko, and Myron Babiuk, who also printed the book through Babiuk Enterprises Inc. The book itself is now part of the “Ukrainian Rochester Collection” archives housed at the University of Rochester Rare Books and Special Collections Library, through a generous donation from the Pylyshenko Family Foundation and the UACF. In 2021, twenty-four UFCU member students received $24,200 in scholarships. Eighteen undergraduate students received UFCU, Ukrainian Selfreliance Association of Rochester Roman Kucil Memorial, EZ Income Tax and Ukrainian Civic Center funded scholarships; six graduate scholarships were funded by UACF and Rochester Ukrainian Group, under the leadership of Dr. Christine Hoshowsky.

The 2021 Undergraduate scholarship recipients were: Amy Cawley, Brianna Chalupa, Olivia Dillenbeck, Gabriella Hamel, Maya Kraus, Natalia Kraus, Melania Kuzo, Lucas Lewyckyj, Ilona Lukomsky, Kostiantyn Lukyniuk, Sophie Lyko, Julia Malanchyn, Abigail Milford, Julia Pitolaj, Jacob Robertson, Lillie Shkavritko, Daryna Skydanchuk, Michael Stasiuk.

In 2021, in addition to the annual funding from UFCU, the following generously donated to UACF: Irma Pylyshenko, SUMA Yonkers FCU and Andriy Horbachewsky in memory of Mirko Pylyshenko to help ship Ukrainian books from the UFCU Library to the John McCain Ukrainian Diaspora Library established in Dnipro, Ukraine on the initiative of Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov and Wolodymyr “Mirko” Pylyshenko.

The UACF, Inc. looks forward to continuing its mission of serving as a non-profit, 501C3 charitable institution for the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union for many years to come. Serving on the UAC Foundation Board of Directors in 2021 were: Evhen Lylak - President, Barbara Gutierrez - 1st Vice-President, Wasyl Kornylo - 2nd Vice-President, Tamara Denysenko - Treasurer, Galina Dyakiv – Secretary and Directors -- Yaroslav Fatyak, Bohdan Zakharchyshyn, Volodymyr Otvarukhin, and until his passing Mirko Pylyshenko (RIP February 2021) when Alexander Oryshkevych joined the UACF board for the remainder of the year.

Ukrainian-American Community Foundation distributes

$65,000 to help Ukraine In April 2022 the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union (UFCU) announced a donation of $50,000 to the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation (UACF), the charitable institutional structure for UFCU and a volunteer organization that has focused on supporting community, cultural, humanitarian, and educational initiatives since 2010.

Since February 2022, under the leadership of UACF President Dr. Evhen Lylak and Board members Tamara Denysenko, Galina Dyakiv, Yaroslav Fatyak, Barbara Gutierrez, Wasyl Kornylo, Alex Oryshkevych, Volodymyr Otvarukhin, Bohdan Zakharchyshyn, the UACF has been entirely devoted to supporting organizations that are actively engaged in helping Ukraine. For the past few months, the UACF has distributed over $65,000 across the United States, which included $15,000 in donations from private contributors.

Dr. Evhen Lylak, stated that, “While it may seem like Ukraine is half a world away, there are many Americans of Ukrainian descent that care deeply about their ancestral homeland, and are willing to do anything to help. Over the past several months we witnessed a level of volunteerism and caliber of commitment to Ukraine that is truly admirable. For Ukraine to achieve victory, our Foundation and all the other organizations and churches from coast to coast must continue their work, but we can’t do it alone.”

At the time of this writing, the war in Ukraine, especially in the east and south, continues to disrupt and destroy everyday life. And while most of the world has seemingly moved onto other topics, we must remain steadfast in our support for freedom, democracy and territorial integrity in Ukraine.
