On behalf of all of us at UFCU, we wish our members happiness and prosperity during this holiday season. We are thankful for your trust in our financial institution. Our credit union has experienced tremendous growth in all areas of our operations in 2018 – in the first 10 months of the year UFCU grew by over 10% in loans, and over 6% in shares. Total assets exceeded $243 million, and we exceeded the budget numbers for net income from our operations. This success allowed us to offer great specials dedicated to the 65th anniversary of our credit union. High-rate share and IRA certificates, personal loan rate specials and VISA transfer promotions contribute to the total value you get at your financial institution, along with low fees and convenient access to your accounts. But we believe that the most important value you get from UFCU is the personalized service. Our staff is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our members, and we constantly provide training and coaching in those areas.

Maria Milazzo Promoted
Maria Milazzo was promoted to Chief Lending Officer in the summer of 2018. Maria has over 25 years of experience in lending, including consulting for various other businesses and financial institutions. She earned her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Rochester Institute of Technology and worked over the years to develop her keen sense of the lending market. We're proud to say that Maria has been with the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union for over 11 years, and we look forward to her leadership in continuing to grow and strengthen our loan portfolio. As of September 30, 2018, Ukrainian FCU had $216 million in loans.

of the Wasyl Kornylo, President & Board Chairman of Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Rochester, NY, was chosen as Volunteer of the Year by the National Association of FederallyInsured Credit Unions (NAFCU).
This year’s NAFCU Annual Awards Competition honored eight winners in total and was selected by a committee of credit union leaders. Nominees for CEO of the Year, Credit Union of the Year, Professional of the Year and Volunteer of the Year were judged in two categories: credit unions with assets of more than $250 million and those with assets of $250 million or less. Kornylo was a winner among credit unions with $250 million or less in assets.
Kornylo and other winners in NAFCU’s 2018 Annual Awards Competition were honored during NAFCU’s 51st Annual Conference and Solutions Expo in Seattle, Washington, June 19-22, 2018.
Annual Awards Competition winners were celebrated during the conference’s general session and breakfast on June 20 and profiled in the July-August edition of The NAFCU Journal magazine.
“Mr. Kornylo’s dedicated efforts are reflected in the continued success of Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, demonstrating thoughtful leadership skills, as well as developing new ideas that are beneficial to our organization’s growth,” said Oleg Lebedko, CEO, Ukrainian Federal Credit Union. “This award reflects Wasyl’s exemplary services on behalf of our members.”

Mykola Levkun, a 33-year old Ukrainian war veteran, husband and father of two children, was accepted into a U.S. hospital for additional surgery and recovery. During his stay he wished to see Niagara Falls before being sent back to Ukraine. We answered the call, and our Regional Manager, Sophia Kenn, along with some friends, took Mykola to make his wish a reality.
Sponsored 11 Families to Attend Summer Camp UFCU sponsored the Voice of Hope Church summer camp in July 2018. Alex Bogomaz, Pastor of Voice of Hope, expressed his gratitude to Ukrainian FCU for helping 11 families that needed financial support to attend the camp. Campers participated in a variety of activities including a talent show, night of songs, a talk show, a kids master chef competition, a very blessed prayer night, and many other games for children.
Hosted Consul General of Ukraine in New York Our Rochester, NY and Boston, MA branches hosted multiple visits by the Consul General of Ukraine in New York, Oleksii Holubov, in order to help members of our communities with items related to notarization of documents, citizenship, obtaining documents from Ukraine, and visa questions.
Collected Supplies for Hospitals in Ukraine Our common bond organizations with support from our branches in Portland, OR, Vancouver, WA, and Syracuse, NY, successfully collected and delivered medical supplies and non-perishable items intended for children, families, and others impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine. 7
Celebrating in
The Syracuse branch formally celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Sunday, September 30, 2018 to first and foremost acknowledge and thank members and common bond organizations that make up the Syracuse community. The Syracuse branch has a long history of growth and service to its members, and we’re grateful to share in the moment with all those who attended the dinner event. The evening was filled with many happy greetings, music, food, and entertainment. As of March 2018 the Syracuse Branch had 2,410 members, with savings of $29.5 million and loans $10.5 million. We thank the Syracuse Branch staff for their many years of service and wish the Syracuse community many more years of success, health, and prosperity. Syracuse is one of 11 UFCU branches from coast to coast and was originally founded in 1968. 8

2018 Scholarships
Ukrainian FCU awarded a New York Credit Union Association scholarship for $1,000 to Martin Welych-Flanagan to help finance his college education. Thanks to 82 credit unions and nine chapters, the New York Credit Union Association has awarded $25,500 in scholarships to 27 bright, hardworking young credit union members. These students competed against more than 1,400 credit union members throughout the state and were chosen based on their outstanding academic performance, extracurricular activities, honors, community service and leadership. “We’re proud of Martin’s academic accomplishments, and so are his family and local community in Syracuse, NY,” said Tanya Dashkevich,
COO, Ukrainian FCU. “The credit union family is alive and well in NY state, and the NYCUA scholarship program is just one example of the people helping people philosophy.” In addition to the NYCUA statewide scholarship program, Ukrainian FCU together with the Ukrainian American Community Foundation offer undergraduate and graduate scholarship program opportunities each year to eligible student-members.

The closing date for receiving any nominations by petition is Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Nominations must be filed with the Secretary of the credit union, Richard Harris, at 824 Ridge Rd.
