UKRAINIAN FCU ANNUAL MEETING

krainian FCU held its 60th Annual Meeting on Sunday April 21, 2013, and announced a bonus dividend of $500,000 for members as part of the 60th anniversary celebration. Nearly 200 Ukrainian FCU members gathered at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church to participate in the meeting. Special guest Mykhailo Ratushny, Chairman of the Ukrainian World Coordinating Committee, delivered a welcome greeting. Following the meeting scholarship awards were presented to recipients.

З нагоди 60-ої річниці Кредитної Спілки урочисту промову проголосив пан Михайло Ратушний, голова Української Всесвітньої Координаційної Ради. Під час зборів були вручені щорічні стипендії членам-студентам. Одночасно було оголошено, що у зв'язку з ювілейним святкування 60-ої річниці спілки у жовтні 2013 року буде виплачено бонус-дивіденди у сумі $500,000.

monthly payments for mortgage-related obligations. This means that lenders can no longer offer no-doc, low-doc loans, stated income, no-income-verification loans. A borrower has to have sufficient assets or income to pay back the loan: Lenders must evaluate and conclude that the borrower can repay the loan. For example, lenders may look at the consumer’s debtto-income ratio – their total monthly debt divided by their total monthly gross income. When a lender knows how much money a consumer earns and is expected to earn, and how much they already owe, the lender can determine how much more debt the consumer can take on. Teaser rates can no longer mask the true cost of a mortgage: Lenders can’t base their evaluation of a consumer’s ability to repay on teaser rates.

Qualified Mortgages Lenders will be presumed to have complied with the Ability-to-Repay rule if they issue “Qualified Mortgages.” Qualified Mortgages will give consumers greater assurance that they can pay back the loan. Some of the features of a Qualified Mortgage are: • No excess upfront points and fees. • No toxic loan features: A Qualified Mortgage cannot have risky loan features, such as terms that exceed 30 years, interest-only payments, or negative-amortization payments where the principal amount increases. • Cap on how much income can go toward debt: Qualified Mortgages generally will be provided to people who have debt-to-income ratios less than or equal to 43 percent. This requirement helps ensure consumers are only getting what they can likely afford. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will give consumers information about their new rights under these rules as the effective date approaches. The CFPB has stated that the effective date for this new rule is January 2014. This means that all financial institutions, including Ukrainian FCU, have already begun taking steps toward complying with this rule. Questions & Answers Where can I get money for a down payment? If you do not have cash for a down payment, there are several options available. • You can put off buying a home and start saving until you have enough money for a down payment. Gifts from parents or others can also be used as down payments, as long as you can present a signed statement saying the money is a gift and not a third-party loan. • You can also consult with your financial or tax advisor about withdrawing up to $10,000 from a traditional or Roth individual retirement account (IRA), without penalty. Generally, if you are under age 59 and a half, you would have to pay a 10 percent tax penalty on early withdrawals. However, if the money is used to buy, build, or rebuild a home, the penalty may be waived. • In some cases, you can borrow money to make a down payment. Approach this option cautiously because borrowing your down payment would increase your overall debt and your monthly payments. • Sometimes local non-profit or government organizations can offer you a second mortgage on special terms to replace a down payment. For eligible service members or family members, VA loans do not require a down payment. Can I be charged a penalty for paying off my mortgage early? Ukrainian FCU does not charge any pre-payment penalties or penalties for paying off your mortgage early. When shopping around for a mortgage at other financial institutions, you should discuss any prepayment penalties and penalties for paying off your mortgage early with the mortgage officer and make sure you understand the fees. These fees may impose substantial costs on homeowners. Will a lender getting a copy of my credit report affect my score? A single credit inquiry from a lender will have little impact on your credit score. Кваліфікована іпотека дасть позичальнику більшу впевненість, що він може погасити кредит. Один запит буде мати незначний вплив на Вашу кредитну історію. Загалом, кредитні запити на один і той самий вид кредиту, що відбуваються протягом 14 днів, будуть розглядатися як один запит. Запити на студентський кредит, автокредит та іпотеку, які робляться протягом 30-ти днів, не мають ніякого ефекту взагалі на Вашу кредитну історію. У чому різниця між процентною ставкою та APR? Є багато витрат, пов’язаних з оформленням іпотеки. Вони включають в себе процентні ставки, збори та інші платежі. Процентна ставка - це плата за позичання грошей. Вона не відображає збори або будь-які інші витрати, які Вам доведеться платити за кредит. Річна процентна ставка (APR) є більш широкий показник ваших витрат. APR відображає не тільки процентну ставку, але й деякі інші збори, для отримання кредиту, у тому числі деякі Ваші витрати на закриття іпотеки. З цієї причини Ваш APR, як правило, вищий, ніж процентна ставка. Будьте уважні при порівнянні APR зі змінною процентною ставкою кредиту. Для кредиту зі змінною ставкою APR не відображає максимально можливу процентну ставку. Це важливо мати на увазі при порівнянні APR кредитів з фіксованою процентною ставкою до кредитів зі змінною процентною ставкою, або між різними кредитами зі змінною процентною ставкою. Не розглядайте APR як тільки єдиний визначник найбільш відповідного для Вас кредиту.

meet our employees Nelya Pomayda joined UFCU Rochester Branch in January 2013 as an Accounting Specialist. She received her degree from Monroe Community College. While still residing in Ukraine, Nelya obtained a Master’s Degree in Mathematics & Computer Science. She is active in the Ukrainian community and teaches at the Ukrainian School in Rochester. Nelya prefers to spend her weekends camping with her family.

Andrei Beregovsky joined our Rochester Branch in April 2013 as an IT Specialist. He contributes to the community by volunteering at the Slavic Pentecostal Church as a Technology Director, where he assists with audio visual projects. He enjoys music, playing volleyball, and spending time with friends.

Galina Sagan joined our Rochester Branch as a Receptionist in March 2013. She thoroughly enjoys member service and working with people in her new position. Previously Galina studied classical literature in university. She is an active volunteer in her church’s music ministry, where she teaches groups, and teen and children choirs, to sing worship songs.

Elaine Keller-Petryk joined our Rochester Branch in June 2013 as a Loan Documentation & Collection Specialist. She received a B.A. in Economics from Nazareth College. Elaine has been an active volunteer in the Ukrainian community for over 20 years. She enjoys reading, solving sudoku and word puzzles, cooking and baking, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandson, Demyanchuk.

Larysa Kalita joined our Boston branch in June 2013 as a Teller. Larysa immigrated from Ukraine, and received a degree in Economics in Kyiv. She likes to travel and explore America. She also enjoys biking, Zumba dancing, and doing various fun activities.

Portland Branch Grows to over 2000 Members

JPMorgan Corporate Challenge 5K Race

Ten employees from UFCU Rochester Branch volunteered for a five kilometer run to benefit YMCA of Greater Rochester. This year the Corporate Challenge attracted 10,921 participants from 399 Rochester area companies. The event took place on the Rochester Institute of Technology. UFCU ДУМКА/OPINION #224 - 2013

UFCU’s Portland Ore., Branch opened in May 2006 with less than 300 members who joined through UFCU’s Sacramento Calif., Branch. In the past seven years UFCU’s Portland Branch has grown to over 2,000 members, and on May 20, 2013, the Khomenko family became the two thousandth members. Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC)

Ukrainian FCU is now offering the Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) with NO FEES* ■ NO APPLICATION FEE ■ NO APPRAISAL FEE

What is a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC)? A home equity line of credit is a form of revolving credit in which your home serves as collateral. Home Equity loans are often used to finance major home expenses: home repairs that may increase value of your home, large medical bills, college education, consolidation of large interest bearing credit cards and other large purchases. With a HELOC, you can borrow in one large sum or in small increments set by the credit union. UFCU home equity plans have a fixed 10 year draw period during which you can borrow money. UFCU also requires that you must borrow at least $10,000 on your first draw, and after that you can draw the remainder of the HELOC in any amount consisting of $100 increments. The 10 year draw period is followed by a repayment period which is 10 or 15 years, based on the amount you borrow. For example if you borrow up to $25,000 the repayment period is 10 years. If you borrow more than $25,000 the repayment period is 15 years. Your minimum monthly payment will equal the following: an amortized monthly payment of the loan account balance on the last day of the billing cycle, for the last billing cycle in which an advance was made. This balance will be amortized over 120/180 months. The minimum monthly payment will change

In determining your actual credit limit, UFCU will consider your ability to repay the loan (principal and interest) by looking at your income, debts, and other financial obligations as well as your credit history. UFCU sets the credit limit on a home equity line by taking a percentage of the home’s appraised value and subtracting from that the balance owed on the existing mortgage. For example:

Ukrainian FCU through its newly-established Ukrainian-American Community Foundation, Inc., awards $20,500 in Student Scholarships

n 2010 the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union established the Ukrainian-American Community Foundation, Inc. Its mission is the care and support of cultural, social, religious and educational development of Ukrainian-American communities, UFCU commonbond membership, and non-profit associations operating for the good and welfare of their communities. The credit union’s UAC Foundation educational purpose is to provide development opportunities by funding student scholarships, educational awards and grants with a goal of encouraging academic excellence in a global perspective. Currently serving on the UAC Foundation Board of Directors are Tamara Denysenko, President; Wasyl Kornylo, Vice-President; Barbara Gutierrez, Treasurer; Evhen Lylak, Secretary; and Yaroslav Fatyak, Assistant Secretary. In 2013, members of Scholarship committee, Christine Hoshowsky, Nadia Tratch, Evhen Lylak, Bohdan Zakharchishin, Yaroslav Fatyak and Tamara Denysenko, extensively reviewed 11 high school seniors and 9 college student applications and awarded 20 scholarship and merit awards ranging in amounts from $2,000 to $500 to qualified student-members from UFCU branches in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany, NY and Boston, MA. In celebration of Ukrainian FCU 60th Anniversary, students were eligible for four $2,000 Special Designation Scholarships, nine $1,000 Outstanding Achievement Scholarships and seven $500 Merit Awards based on overall academic, artistic or vocational achievement, involvement in school activities, participation in community,

common bond or cultural organizations and two submitted essays. This year, in addition to an essay on the benefits of past, present and future UFCU products, services and community support, students had to research and write an essay on the 80th anniversary of the “Great Man-Made Famine in Ukraine”, the Holodomor of 1932-33, during which over 7 million Ukrainians were starved to death. The 2013 high school scholarship and award recipients were: Rostislav Melnick, Olga Savka, Solomiya Rachynska, Olha Vanzyak, Natalia Sytch, Maxim Kowal, Ashley Shtoyko, Nataliya Vysochan, Andriy Lukomsky, Patrick Lupynis and Natalie Dimovski. The 2013 college scholarship and award recipients were Khrystyna Dilai, Roman Krywulych, Marta Fediuk, Olga Bilokin, Marta Fedik, William M. Serediuk, Dmitriy Shcherbenko, Andrey Olesh and Olga Olesh. In the future, the Ukrainian FCU through its UAC Foundation will recognize and encourage excellence in the study of Ukrainian language, literature, culture, heritage, history and religious traditions with awards to students, researchers, and institutes of higher learning in the USA and abroad. It will also consider cultural development scholarships, awards or grants to credit union members who attend undergraduate or graduate-level courses in a variety of disciplines at domestic liberal arts, professional, vocational and technical universities and institutes, in conjunction with international studies programs. 2010 році Українська Федеральна Кредитна Спілка заснувала Українсько-Американську Громадську Фундацію. Її місія - турбота і підтримка культурного, соціального, релігійного та освітнього розвитку українсько-американської громади. Мета стипендійної програми полягає в фінансуванні студентських стипендій, освітніх грантів і нагород для заохочення успіхів у навчанні студентів, що є членами кредитної спілки. Раду директорів Фундації очолює Тамара Денисенко. До дирекції також належать віце-президент Василь Корнило, скарбник Барбара Гутьєррес, секретар Євген Лилак та заступник секретаря Ярослав Фатяк. У 2013 році члени стипендійної комісії Христина Гошовська, Надя Трач, Євген Лилак, Богдан Захарчишин, Ярослав Фатяк і Тамара Денисенко ретельно проаналізували заявки oдинадцяти старшокласників і дев'яти студентів коледжу. Було призначено 20 стипендій та заохочувальних виплат в сумах від 2,000 до 500 доларів студентам-членам УФКС з Рочестеру, Баффало, Сиракюз, Албані та Бостону. У рамках святкування 60-річчя УФКС студенти мали можливість отримати чотири спеціально призначених стипендії по 2,000 доларів; девять стипендій по 1,000 доларів за видатні досягнення та сім нагород по 500 доларів. До уваги бралися досягнення в основах науки, мистецтва або професії, участь у шкільних заходах та в житті громади та культурних організацій і два нариси. Цього року, на додаток до нарису про послуги УФКС, студенти повинні були дослідити і написати твір, присвячений 80-річчю Голодомору. У 2013 році стипендій удостоїлися старшокласники: Ростислав Мельник, Ольга Савка, Соломія Рачинська, Ольга Ванзяк, Наталя Сич, Ешлі Штойко, Наталія Височан, Андрій Лукомський, Патрік Лупиніс, Максим Коваль і Наталі Димовськи; студенти коледжів Христина Ділай, Роман Кривулич, Марта Федюк, Ольга Білокінь, Марта Федик, Василь Середюк, Дмитро Щербенко, Андрій Олеш та Ольга Олеш. У майбутньому Українська ФКС через свою Фундацію буде визначати і заохочувати високі досягнення у вивченні української мови, літератури, культури, спадщини, історії та релігійних традицій нагородами для студентів та науковців у вищих навчальних закладах в США і за кордоном. 16th Annual Seabreeze Family Fun Day This year 630 UFCU members from Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo, enjoyed a funfilled day at the amusement park. To make UFCU’s 60th anniversary extra special, there was homemade Ukrainian cake for dessert, and face painting and balloon sculptures for children. In addition, UFCU held special prize drawings throughout the day and members won gift cards to various stores. UFCU provides discounted tickets for members to attend the picnic. Tickets include access to rides and slides, food, beverages, and ice cream.

"BRING YOUR CHILD TO WORK DAY" UFCU proudly celebrates “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” each year at all of our branch locations. This national event provides an opportunity for children to learn what work is all about. The children receive a tour of the office, get a peek into the

money vault, and use the money counting machine. But you can rest assured because we don’t let them pre-approve members for loans, or anything like that!

FCU Syracuse Branch, formerly Self Reliance NY FCU, held a special banquet to celebrate 45 years in business since it was founded in 1968. The celebration was filled with dance performances by ODESA Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, songs by Olga Rudka, and the Malvy Ensemble. During the celebration UFCU Board and Management honored previous board members, branch staff, and committee members, with certificates of recognition. The Syracuse Branch has 7 employees, 2,290 members, $22.7 million in savings, and Syracuse Branch Manager $25.9 million in assets. Nadia Hayduke

An Evening of “Spiritual and Folkloric Songs of Ukraine”

n Saturday, April 21, 2013, the greater Rochester Ukrainian community, in conjunction with the Center for International Education at Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY held a special evening - a celebration of “Spiritual and Folkloric Songs of Ukraine”. The event, coordinated by Tamara Denysenko, Dr. George Eisen and Kathy Hansen of Nazareth College, was in recognition of the establishment of a cooperative educational relationship between Nazareth College and the National University of Ostroh Academy in Ukraine, the 10th anniversary of the Center for International Education at Nazareth College, the 10th anniversary of Ukrainian Consulate services in Rochester, NY and the 60th anniversary of Ukrainian Federal Credit Union. Over 400 people attended the inspirational event that included religious songs by St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir directed by Natalia Douda; St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Choir under the direction of Halyna Sochan-Gridley; Ukrainian Catholic Church of Epiphany Choir directed by Ivan Tymchyshyn; Ukrainian Christian Pentecostal Church of Rochester Men’s Ensemble directed by Pavel Melnichuk and the Sytch Family Ensemble; Slavic Bible Baptist Church Choir directed by Bohdan Yurchuk and the Men’s Chorus directed by Serhiy Kovalchuk; Slavic Pentecostal Church Choir directed by Yaroslav Lukomsky and Volodymyr Chiley. It was especially spiritually uplifting to hear the “The Lord’s Prayer - Отче Наш” (musical composition by Mykola D. Leontovych), sung by the combined community choir under the direction of Halyna Sochan-Gridley. The second half of the program featured Ukrainian folkloric songs performed by Tania Beghini, Zinnia Dzus-DeBole and Lydia Dzus, Myroslava Borys, the vocal ensemble “MALVY” and the Ukrainian Academic & Folk Choir “SURMA” under the direction

суботу 21-го квітня 2013 року українська громада Рочестеру спільно із факультетом міжнародних відносин "Назарет" коледжу, що в м. Піттсфорд штату Нью-Йорк, провели святковий вечір духовних та фольклорних пісень України. Цей захід організували Тамара Денисенко та др. Джордж Айзен і Кеті Генсен з "Назарет" коледжу. Концерт був присвячений налагодженню освітянських взаємин між "Назарет" коледжем і "Острозькою академією" в Україні; а також 10-річчю факультету міжнародних відносин в "Назарет" коледжі; 10-річчю надання консульських послуг в Рочестері українським консульством з Нью-Йорку та 60-річчю Української федеральної кредитної спілки. В цій вражаючій події взяло участь більше чотирьохсот осіб. Перша частина програми складалася з релігійних 18

Extending greetings was a special guest from Ukraine, Michael Ratushny, president of the Ukrainian World Coordinating Council. A commemorative 22page program booklet prepared by Tamara Denysenko underwritten by the Ukrainian FCU and its newly-established Ukrainian-American Community (UAC) Foundation provided a deeper insight into the religious meaning, the historical background of the songs, composers, writers, performers, churches and community choirs - the faith and people behind the words and music. A twohour video, professionally created by Nazareth College students, was shown on Irondequoit ICAT 15 TV network under the auspices of the Irondequoit-Poltava Sister Cities. An exhibit of Ukrainian religious, musical and cultural artifacts, coordinated by Stephany Wowkowych & Prof. Mirko Pylyshenko, and a demonstration of Ukrainian Easter eggs "Pysanky" by Irene Grassmann was held at the Golisano Academic Center during the month of April. Concert DVD's are available for a donation of $10. Following this successful celebration, the Center for International Education invited the greater Rochester Ukrainian community to represent the Christian Faith and the Ukrainian religious heritage at an interfaith concert that was part of a “Symposium on the Role of the Sacred Texts of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in Uniting and Dividing Humanity” that took place at Nazareth College, June 23-25, 2013. On January 19, 2014 the Greater Rochester Ukrainian community will again come together in joy and praise to celebrate the “1025th Anniversary of Christianity in Ukraine” and a “Traditional Ukrainian Christmas” at Nazareth College. Спеціальна програмна брошура на 22 сторінки, підготовлена Тамарою Денисенко та видана Українською кредитною спілкою та її новоствореним Українсько-Американським громадським фондом, допомогла слухачам та виконавцям церковних і громадських хорів глибше зрозуміти релігійну думку, народну основу пісень, яку черпали композитори, поети, - віру митців, які стоять за словами та музикою. Різноманітна і барвиста виставка українського релігійного, народно-культурного мистецтва, організована Стефанією Вовкович і проф. Мірком Пилишенком, і виставка українських великодніх писанок Ірени Грассман проходили в академічному центрі Ґолісано протягом квітня місяця. Після успішного проведення цього святкового вечора факультет міжнародних відносин запросив українську громаду Рочестеру представляти християнську релігійну музику в міжконфесійному концерті, який був частиною симпозіуму "Роль священних текстів юдаїзму, християнства та ісламу в єднанні та роз’єднанні людства", яка відбулася в "Назарет" коледжі 23-25-го червня 2013 року. Всі слухачі мали можливість почути українську релігійну спадщину. 19-го січня 2014 року українська громада Рочестеру знову збереться разом у "Назарет" коледжі, щоби радісно прославляти і святкувати традиційне українське Різдво. Consecration of the Rev. Borys Gudziak as Bishop and Apostolic Exarch On Sunday, December 30, 2012, UFCU member Bishop Borys Gudziak celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the first time in his home parish St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Syracuse, NY, since his ordination as the 49th member of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in St. George’s Cathedral in Lviv, Ukraine, on July 21, 2012. Bishop Gudziak, Ph.D., has been named apostolic exarch for Ukrainians in France and appointed titular bishop of Carcabia. In addition to France, the exarchate also includes Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. Borys Gudziak was born in Syracuse in 1960, the son of Dr. Alexander and Jaroslava Gudziak, who immigrated to the U.S. from Lviv, Ukraine. Dr. Alexander Gudziak became a successful dentist and was involved in many aspects of the Ukrainian community of Syracuse. Dr. Alexander Gudziak was the Chairman and Board Member of the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union Syracuse Branch, (formerly, Self Reliance Syracuse NY FCU), for many years. The consecration of the Rev. Author Stephanie Sydoriak at Writers & Books

he 20th-century immigrant experience of living simultaneously in two different cultures was the subject of a book reading and talk by Stephanie Sydoriak, and took place at the Writers and Books, Inc. The author of "100% American -100% Ukrainian: An Ocean Between", Stephanie Sydoriak discussed her experiences growing up as a first-generation American while preserving her Ukrainian heritage. Sydoriak was born in 1926 in Boston, Mass., and did her graduate studies at Yale. When her husband earned his Ph.D at Yale University, the couple moved to Los Alamos, N.M., where they raised six children. Sydoriak translated Russian, German, and French scientific papers for the laboratory and became a certified piano teacher, all the while maintaining and promulgating her Ukrainian culture with demonstrations of Ukrainian dance and Easter egg making and exhibits of Ukrainian art. Sydoriak has also published a book of poetry titled "Inside Passage". The event was organized by Branch 120 of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America in Rochester, NY, and sponsored by the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, The Burke Group, Daria Hanushevsky, Wirlo Associates Inc., and the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester. У травні рочестерці мали нагоду вітати в себе Стефанію Сидоряк, авторку книги "100% Американка-100% Українка: Океан Поміж Ними", в котрій вона описує своє життя, виростаючи в родині, яка глибоко цінувала Українські традиції і передала любов до них своїм дітям разом з танками, піснями і мелодійною мовою. Народжена у 1926 році у Бостоні, Стефанія Сидоряк виросла у роки Великої Депресії та навчалася на ступінь Магiстра в Університеті Єйл. Вона була перекладачем наукових праць з російської, німецької та французької мов та дипломованим вчителем фортепіано. Після того як чоловік Пані Сидоряк отримав ступінь Доктора в Університеті Єйл, супружжя переїхало до Лос Аламос у Нью Мексико. Виховуючи шестеро дітей, пані Сидоряк завжди зберігала Українські звичаї та традиції, навчаючи мистецтву писанки, вишиванню, прививаючи любов до Української культури свої дітям, та вливаючи їі у Американське суспільство. Стефанія Сидоряк також має опублікувану книгу поезій. Ukrainian Arts Foundation of Greater Rochester Dance Recital

he annual UAFGR (Ukrainian Arts Foundation of Greater Rochester) Dance Recital was held at Webster High School on May 19, 2013. It is the culmination of a full year of Ukrainian Dance Instruction. Classes are held at the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester, Webster NY, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, throughout the school year. The mission of the UAFGR is to spread Ukrainian Culture through dance. There are over 100 dancers registered and 8 instructors. The recital is also a fund raiser for scholarships to send dance students to the Roma Prima Dance Workshop and Camps at Soyuzivka. This year 9 dancers will attend workshops and camps. This year’s concert was entitled “Festival of Dance”. It was a compilation of dances from various regions of Ukraine. The annual recital also featured a presentation of a Certificate of Achievement and Lifetime Membership to graduating high school senior Maxim Kowal. UAFGR will be performing throughout upstate NY in Auburn, Buffalo and again in Rochester for the St. Josaphat’s festival. Registration for dancers will be on September 16th at the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester. 20

Рочестер, НЙ. 6-го квітня 2013 р. відбулася громадська зустріч, під час якої була проведена дискусія на тему “Міжнародне розуміння”. Іноземні студенти, що навчаються в Університеті Рочестеру (UR) і в Рочестерському технологічному інституті (RIT) – Альона Кульбабчук з України, Кароль Вільчинський з Польщі, Поліна Бородєва та Аугуль Мухаметова з Росії поділилися своїми поглядами про освітні, культурні, фінансові, економічні та геополітичні перспективи своїх країн. On April 6, 2013 an “International Insights” panel discussion featured international students studying at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and University of Rochester (UR). Alona Kulbabchuk, Ukraine; Karol Wilczyński, Poland; Polina Borodaeva and Aygul Mukhametova from Russia shared their perspectives on the educational, cultural, financial, economic and geo-political developments of their respective countries and their future prospects for success in the region. Facilitating the event were Tanya Schueler-Choukairi, Josephine M. Perini, Amy LaGambino and Tamara Denysenko. Welcoming the group on behalf of UFCU were Roman Omecinskyj and Roman Kshysyak. On June 3, 2013 the credit union again welcomed a delegation of international visitors from 19 countries around the world. The diverse US Department of State International Visitor Leadership (IVLP) delegation came to Rochester under the auspices of RGC as part of a multi-regional project entitled “Women and Entrepreneurship”. Tamara Denysenko represented UFCU at a roundtable discussion on “Women in Business” at the Rochester Business Alliance (RBA) and at UFCU, the international delegates met with Oleg Lebedko, Maria Skrypka-Milazzo, Mirko Pylyshenko among others to learn about UFCU history, business lending, member and community services provided to UFCU members coast-to-coast.

На це вона відповідає: "Так, треба лося врученням свідоцтв. Для випускниць це був особливий завжди знати про голодомор. Нам треба знати, що ті українці, день, коли вони отримали їхні дипломи - як свідчення що загинули в голодоморі не померли, щоб ми про них забули, наполегливої, сумлінної праці протягом шкільних років, та а щоб ми вчились від них як треба боротися за Україну і щоб українське серце не загинуло." успішного складання матуральних іспитів. Усміхнені обличчя дітей у вишитих самостійне життя в цій чудовій країні, адже на сорочках, задоволені батьки, стримано де б ти не жив, сьогоднішний день близько 80 тисяч українців урочисті вчителі, приємно вражені гості. З не забудь своєї проживає в штаті Орегон. таким настроєм відзначає своє 15-річчя Школа вкраїнської мови. На нашому святі були присутні почесні гості: Українознавства в місті Портлaнд, штат Орeгон. Dave Hedges - Голова Ради міста Мілуокі, Rein В. Сосюра Молитвою подяки й Божого благословіння Vaga - Голова Шкільного Округу Північного відкриває свято старший пастор Української Клакамас. З його допомогою 6 років тому Біблійної Церкви Ілля Манойлович Глобак, який також наша школа отримала можливість здавати екзамени (Second благословляв нашу школу 15 років тому. Перебуваючи мови як іноземної і отримувати кредити в своїх школах штатів за межами своєї земної батьківщини, українці намагалися Орегон і Вашінгтон, Яна Парубець та Олександр Севостьянов триматися один одного‚ жити разом. Вони берегли і передавали - Віце Консули з Українського Консульства в Сан-Франциско; своїм дітям батьківську мову‚ звичаї і традиції свого народу. Ілля Манойлович Глобак - Старший Пастор Української Четверта хвиля українських іміґрантів в Портланді почала своє Біблійної Церкви; Віктор Васильович Бурлака - Старший життя в США з того‚ що в 1998 р. заснувала школу для своїх Пастор Української Біблійної Церкви "Дорога до Бога"; дітей, на сьогоднішній день єдину Українську школу в штаті Кібукевич Петро Логвинович - Пастор Української Біблійної Орегон. Засновниками її були ентузіасти, в яких горів вогонь Церкви "Дорога до Бога"; Олександр Москаль - Головний любові до рідної мови, до культури нашого народу. Це директор Менеджер Портландської Філії Української Федеральної школи Левків Iгор Йосифович та завуч школи Малофій Дмитро Кредитної Спілки; Iванович. Батьки і вчителі нашої школи взялися за справу Починаючи з 2006 року ми почали працювати з Українською шкільництва, виходячи з того‚ що бачили велику необхідність в Федеральною Кредитною Спілкою і нас склалася плідна вихованні наших дітей на засадах кращих традицій українського взаємовигідна співпраця. Ми висловлюємо щиру подяку народу і збереженні української мови. керівництву Спілки за їхню натхненну працю на благо українців І ось уже 15 років кожної суботи везуть батьки своїх діточок на теренах США. в школу і веселими голосами наповнюються класи Campbell Ми також щиро вдячні Консульству України в СанElementary School, яку арендує наша школа. Травневі Події в Сакраменто

ісяць травень виявився в Сакраменто урожайним на суспільно-громадські події. 11 травня Слов’янський Центр допомоги, яким керує Роман Ромасьо, провів черговий щорічний День безпеки, здоров’я і праці. Цього року це була вже 11-та зустріч, яку з великим задоволенням відвідують жителі Сакраменто. Спілка була представлена тут окремим столиком під новеньким чудовим наметом, що захищав від жаркого південного сонця. Але, не лише як учасник, а як і спонсор. 18 травня відбулося одночасно дві події: щорічна Слов’янська ярмарка, організована в одному з центральних парків міста, і свято останнього дзвінка для випускників Школи Українознавства міста Ранчо-Кордова. YФKC спонсорувала проведення першого в Сакраменто тенісного турніру серед молоді, який проводився під час ярмарки. Цей захід, організований за ініціативою Першої Слов’янської Евангельської Баптистської Церкви міста Сакраменто, викликав неабиякий інтерес і для участі у ньому прибули молоді люди навіть з Сан-Франциско. Для випускників же 8-го класу Школи Українознавства свято останнього дзвінка стало знаменною подією. Попереду – нові горизонти у

здобутті освіти. А знання української мови завжди стане їм у пригоді. Свято відвідали також представники Українського Консульства. Зокрема, з коротким зверненням до присутніх звернувся консул України пан Сергій Альошин. Поздоровив випускників, їх батьків та вчителів школи і менеджер філії УФКС Михайло Ткач, який передав у дарунок школі чек на суму $750. Виділені кошти будуть використані на подальший розвиток школи. Участь у таких заходах – важливий момент в роботі філії Спілки. Це – і зв’язок з громадою, і реклама послуг Спілки, і об’єднуюча складова в житті громади. Разом з тим, це також наполеглива невтомна робота працівників філії. Організація участі філії у цих заходах лягла на плечі менеджера філії Михайла Ткача. А в цьому йому допомагали цього року: Орест Кузьо, Мирослава Деркач, Катерина Гузар та Володимир Кунець, які приймали безпосередню участь у згаданих заходах. Sacramento Community Celebrates Several Events in May Several community and social events took place in Sacramento during the month of May. On May 11, the Slavic Assistance Center held its annual Slavic Community Safety, Health, and Job Fair. This year marked the 11th anniversary of the popular community event. UFCU was one of the sponsors of the event and had its informational booth there. On May 18, two events took place, the annual Slavic Fair, and the Last Bell Ceremony at the Heritage School of Ukrainian Studies in Rancho Cordova, California. UFCU sponsored the Slavic Fair and was a special sponsor of the Ping Pong Championship tournament which took place during the fair. UFCU also sponsored the Ukrainian School of Knowledge with a donation in the amount of $750. Several UFCU employees attended both events on behalf of the credit union. The Heritage School of Ukrainian Studies held a special event featuring Ukrainian traditional art. The event featured poetry and beautiful traditional Ukrainian costumes from various regions of Ukraine. UFCU officials Oleg Lebedko, CEO; Dr. Evhen Lylak, UFCU Supervisory Committee Chair; and Mykhailo Ratushny, Chairman of the Ukrainian World Coordinating Council, attended the special event. Пікнік - Подія в Сакраменто 5 липня працівники відділення Кредитної Спілки в Сакраменто влаштували спільну вечерю в парку біля будинку першого менеджера філії в Сакраменто, Олександра Василенка. Присутні дружньою командою готували невибагливу, але смачну і здорову їжу: смажили шашлики, нарізали овочі та фрукти. Активно спілкувалися у неформальній обстановці. Олександр жваво цікавився поточними справами Кредитної Спілки, з цікавістю слухав розповіді співробітників. Смачна їжа сприяла дружньому невимушеному спілкуванню. Звучали різноманітні розповіді, жарти, пропозиції щодо майбутнього. Зустріч завершилася пізно ввечері, всі були задоволені. Спільність та дружня атмосфера сприяла подальшому згуртуванню колективу. On May 10, 2013, UFCU Buffalo Branch held an open house at the historic Ukrainian Home Dnipro. Several dozen members from Buffalo attended to socialize with UFCU Board members, senior executives, and staff. The event also highlighted the 50th anniversary of Ukrainian Home Dnipro FCU, which merged with UFCU earlier this year. A photo slide show of Ukrainian Home Dnipro FCU’s history was displayed during the event and refreshments were provided for members. In addition, a prize drawing was held at the end.

Ukrainian FCU Supports Ukrainian School in Buffalo NY Ridna Shkola in Buffalo NY, recently held its Last Bell ceremony. The School takes place on Saturdays and was founded over 50 years ago. After general lessons in Ukrainian language, culture, history, literature, religion, and geography, the students participate in signing and creative writing. Children can be enrolled at the age of five. Maria Sedlarczuk, Buffalo Branch Manager; and Sophia Kenn, Assistant Branch Manager; attended the ceremony and presented a $1,000 donation to the school on behalf of UFCU. На завершення свята Останнього дзвоника був проведений конкурс "Українські діти мають таланти". Діти співали, читали вірші, грали на музичних інструментах і танцювали. Nothing in the Group Policy will invalidate or impair the rights granted to you in this Certificate. THIS CERTIFICATE IS A SUMMARY of the Key Terms of the Group Policy. For more details, you may inspect the Group Policy at the Credit Union during their business hours. DO YOU QUALIFY FOR THIS INSURANCE - Members qualify for insurance under the Group Policy subject to the following rules: 1. You qualify for insurance on a deposit if you are at work on the date you make the deposit. “At work” means you are actively working for pay at your job 20 hours a week or more. If you are off work solely because you are on vacation, layoff or other lack of work, or due to a temporary minor illness or injury, you will be considered “at work.” If you are not at work on the date you make a deposit, you qualify for insurance on the deposit subject to the following PRE-EXISTING CONDITION LIMITATION. We won't pay a benefit for the deposit if your death results from an illness or injury for which you received medical advice, consultation or treatment within the 6 months or more after the date of the deposit. We won't apply this rule if: (a) you die 6 months or more after the date of the deposit, (b) your savings balance is $500 or less, or (c) you return to work within 6 months after the effective date of insurance on the deposit. 2. You must be under age 70 on the date you make a deposit. If you misstate your age, your insurance, if any, will be determined by your correct age. 3. You will never be insured for more than $2,000 under the group policy. This means that if you have savings in only one covered account at the credit union and the balance of that account exceeds this amount, you will not be insured for the excess. This also means that if you have more than one covered account at the credit union and the sum of the savings balances in all those accounts exceeds this amount, you will not be insured for the excess. You are not insured for any class of savings which has been excluded from coverage or which is not being reported for coverage by the Credit Union. Please see the Credit Union and the Group Policy for details on which savings are not covered. HERE ARE THE KEY TERMS OF THE GROUP POLICY: Who Is Insured - Insurance is on the member whose name appears first on the savings account. Second-named members are not insured. All members who qualify for insurance are included for coverage. You do not need to sign up for your insurance to start. For trust accounts, only the first-named beneficiary of the trust is insured under the Group Policy if he is a member of the credit union. However, if there is a written trust agreement on file with the Credit Union stating that the trustee is the true owner of the account, then the trustee is the insured person if he is a member of the credit union. Who Pays The Premium - The Credit Union pays the premium. You pay no direct charge to keep your insurance in force. (continued) 07-06-40-12-0286

Who Do We Pay - If you die while you are insured under the Group Policy, we will pay the proceeds of your insurance to the Credit Union. Incontestability - No statement made by you can be used to contest this insurance or deny a claim unless the statement is in a written statement signed by you, and a copy of it has been given to you, your estate or the Credit Union. After 2 years from the date your insurance becomes effective during your lifetime, no statement made by you in writing may be used to contest this insurance or deny a claim. All statements made by you shall be deemed representations and not warranties. This limitation does not apply to your disability insurance, if any, if that statement was made fraudulently. Entire Contract - The Group Policy issued to the Credit Union, the application on which it is based, and any endorsements, riders and amendments to the Group Policy make up the entire contract. The Group Policy may be amended. Beneficiary - You may name the person to whom you want the proceeds of your insurance paid. See the Credit Union for the form to file. If you do, the Credit Union will pay the proceeds to that person. If no name is on file, the proceeds will go to the same person who gets your savings. How Much Do We Pay - The amount of your insurance is based on the insured balance of your savings on the date of your death and how old you were on the date of each deposit that makes up that balance as follows: If your age on the date of an insured deposit was

Please note the amount of your insurance is based on your age on the date of each deposit that makes up the balance of your savings. For purposes of determining which deposits make up your savings balance on the date of your death, we will assume that any withdrawals are made on a last in/first out basis. This means that when a withdrawal of savings is made, the withdrawal is considered to be a withdrawal of the deposit(s) most recently made and not yet considered to have already been withdrawn. Remember, however, there is a $2,000 limit on the amount of insurance you may receive under the policy. This means that regardless of when deposits are made or what your total savings is, you can never be insured under the policy for more than this amount limit. How To File A Claim - All claims are filed by the Credit Union. We need a certified copy of the death certificate as proof of claim. The Group Policy Can Be Changed - The terms of the Group Policy can be changed without prior notice to you. No change, however, can take away any rights which arose prior to the time the change was made. The Group Policy Can Be Stopped at any time by either CMFG Life or the Credit Union after prior notice is given, one to the other. Right To Convert If your insurance under the policy (a) stops because (i) you are no longer in the class or classes eligible for policy coverage (ii) the policy stops; or (b) is reduced (i) at the time of the first reduction due to age, (ii) due to a change in class or (iii) due to a change to the policy, you may convert your insurance under the policy to a new policy of life insurance only. You may convert your insurance to a new policy of life insurance only without evidence of insurability if: (a) you apply to us for the new policy within 31 days of the date your insurance under the policy stops or is reduced; and (b) you pay the premium for the new policy. The new policy will be in any one of the forms customarily issued by us, except term insurance. However, you may choose, in accordance with the conditions prescribed above, to receive a policy of life insurance only, preceded by one year of term life insurance with the premium payable, at your option, in any mode customarily offered by us.

The new policy will be in an amount equal to the amount of your insurance stopping or being reduced under the policy less any amount remaining in force under the policy. However, the first time your insurance under the policy is reduced as set forth above, the new policy will be in an amount equal to 80% of your insurance in force under the policy immediately prior to the reduction. Also, if your insurance under the policy stops because we or the credit union stop the policy, in no event will the amount of insurance converted exceed the amount of insurance stopping under the policy less any amount of life insurance for which you may be or may become eligible under any group policy issued or reinstated by us or another insurer within 45 days of the date the policy stops. The premium for the new policy will be the premium applicable to the class of risk to which you then belong and to the form and amount of the new policy at your then attained age. If you die during the 31-day period referenced above or any extended notice period referenced below, and before a converted policy becomes effective, the amount of insurance which you could have converted during these periods will be paid by us as a death benefit under the policy. You will be notified of this right to convert and its duration within 15 days before or after the happening of an event that triggers the right. If notice is given more than 15 days after the happening of the event, the time allowed for conversion shall extend to 45 days after the notice is given. If notice is not given within 90 days after the happening of the event, your right to convert will expire after those 90 days. You are not insured for the following specific class(es) of savings: • Share Draft Accounts. The following provisions are added to your Certificate of Insurance. Triple Benefits Insurance - If you die prior to your 40th birthday, we will pay a stated percentage of the Group Contract Benefit after we receive due proof of death. The percentage we will pay depends on your age on the date death occurred. The percentage is figured as follows: Age of Member on Date of Death

NOTICE OF PROTECTION PROVIDED BY ILLINOIS LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE GUARANTY ASSOCIATION This notice provides a brief summary description of the Illinois Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association (“the Association”) and the protection it provides for policyholders. This safety net was created under Illinois law, which determines who and what is covered and the amounts of coverage. The Association was established to provide protection in the unlikely event that your member life, annuity or health insurance company becomes financially unable to meet its obligations and is taken over by its Insurance Department. If this should happen, the Association will typically arrange to continue coverage and pay claims, in accordance with Illinois law, with funding from assessments paid by other insurance companies.
