How Drum Trucks Work to Carry Heavy Industrial Loads

UK Lifting Store

Overview Design and construction of Drum Trucks play an important role in shaping the working efficiency of the system from the position of drum loading to the location of unloading. It is very important to evaluate the two parameters for ensuring smooth and safe working conditions without causing any personal injury and property damage.

Technical Specifications – Efficiency Analysis How do the technical specifications affect the working efficiency of the Drum Trucks? The first parameter you have to consider is the frame assembly factor. Alignments of the following components are very important for ensuring safety. • Vertical supporting column • Horizontal base • Transporter frame • Base frame legs • Steel handles • Central column • Sockets and screws

A qualified service engineer can assemble the complete system using the instructions of the operation manual. The position of release and close valves has to be very close to the central assembly for easy grabbing and lifting of the drum. Head cap screw and socket set screw of the vertical column help to hold the drum in the vertical position firmly. Steel handles play an important role in increasing the hydraulic pressure from the base up to the highest vertical holding position. Assembly of foot pump is to be central in the base to ensure maximum pressure build-up within the minimum time. Resistance to corrosion and rusting is one of the key factors that can affect the durability and working efficiency of the system. The steel handles to connect directly to the hydraulic pump through the lubrication chamber. Regular maintenance is the key to enhancing the working efficiency of the system while balancing the safety factors.

Frame Strength – Load Capacity factor The standard Drum Trucks have three core frames at the core, around the load, and the base. Alignment of these frames with the fixings has to be done exactly according to the assembly manual of the OEM. Only then the system can deliver its maximum efficiency during the functional stage. Transporter base frame provides the initial platform onto which the worker loads the drum. The core of the base frame has to be solid for providing support to drum. It should have a high load-carrying capacity to ensure the drum stays in position without falling off from the edges. Vertical frame is the core onto which the entire drum load will be transferred during the lifting and carrying tasks. Galvanized steel is stated t be the ideal material for the frame that can ensure heavy load without warping and buckling under constant stress.

Foot Pump Efficiency – Load Balancing Capacity The foot pump is the most critical part of Drum Trucks that pushes the drum up vertically before the jaws hold it at a specific vertical height from the base frame. The height of lifting depends on the drum height and weight. Heavier drums need to be carried at a moderate height while the lighter drums can be pushed to the maximum heights.

Conclusion The performance efficiency of Drum Trucks depends on the core design and construction factors which an experienced engineer can ensure through proper assembly and regular maintenance.
