Since 1955 the World Press Photo Awards are a reference in the field of documentary and press photography, the Oscars for photo journalism. This year marks the beginning of a new region-based jury system and therefor the lay-out and structure of the yearbook has been updated as well.

The World Press Photo Foundation is a global platform connecting professionals and nonprofessionals through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling.
