Later, when I’m Grown Up

Bette Westera, illustrations Mattias De Leeuw

A journey of discovery, full of imagination An adventurous picture book, yet at the same time recognisable The illustrations by award-winner Mattias De Leeuw are a delight to the eye

Mother and child go to the swimming pool... Or is it a tropical forest? Dive into the imaginative world of children and join in in their wildest dreams.

Later, when I’m all grown up, I will be courageous enough to try and dare to do many things.

Wandering through infinitely long underground passages. Catching tarantulas in a tropical rainforest. Hanging from a trapeze under loud drumroll, wearing tinsel clothes, using no hands. So, later, when I'm grown up, but not just yet.

Betta Westera has already written many children’s books, including picture books, poetry collections and non-fiction. She’s also a sought-after translator of picture books, mainly books containing rhymes. Her works have already received several awards, including a Gouden Griffel, the Woutertje Pieterse Prize and the Max Velthuijs Prize. Mattias De Leeuw is not only an illustrator, he’s also a real storyteller, winning multiple awards for his books, including a Gulden Palet and a Boekenpluim.
