Our Taylor Wilderness Research Station is located in the middle of the largest wilderness area in the lower 48 states. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a oneof-a-kind Semester in the Wild program in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area.
A project to explore Saturn’s moon Titan with a robotic rotorcraft envisioned by a University of Idaho researcher has been selected by NASA for launch. Named for its insect shape, Dragonfly is set to leave Earth in 2028 and arrive at Titan in December 2034.
Students and researchers at places like the Nancy M. Cummings Research, Extension and Education Center work on real-world livestock, forage and agricultural challenges at a commercial scale.
Spend your first semester outdoors. In CNR 101: Exploring Natural Resources, you’ll participate in field trips nearly every week as you explore local landscapes, work in interdisciplinary teams and gain experience in each of the natural resource disciplines offered at the University of Idaho.

Vandal innovation is headed to the International Space Station! A team of U of I students is working with NASA to develop a bacteria-resistant coating that can be used to prevent the spread of germs among astronauts in space.

University Honors Program
Open to students in any major, the University Honors Program offers honors courses, distinctive experiential learning opportunities, personalized advising and a unique community of scholars.
Accelerated graduate degrees
University of Idaho offers accelerated programs like the 3+3 Law option, where students start law school in their fourth undergraduate year. The 4+1 master’s program lets Idaho residents earn a nonthesis master’s degree in one year, with shared credits, simplified admission, and undergraduate tuition rates during the first graduate year. Other accelerated graduate degree programs available for degrees including architecture, athletic training, dietetics and more.

Curious about the legal field? Pair any major with our pre-law program to gain insights and receive specialized advising. Then, consider becoming a double Vandal by applying to our law school cohort in Moscow or Boise.
Pre-health professions
University of Idaho’s pre-health professions program supports students from any major pursuing healthcare careers. While not a major itself, pre-health is a developmental path complemented by a relevant minor and advising to help with coursework, experience and applications.
Special opportunity to study in Japan
Electrical engineering students can complete their degree in Moscow — or start in Japan through the Microchip Engineering & Security Alliance (MESA). Spend two years at Hiroshima University, then finish at University of Idaho and graduate as a Vandal.

At the Doceo Center for Innovation + Learning, future educators explore creative teaching methods and handson classroom technology used in schools across Idaho.

In the College of Art and Architecture’s Design-Build Program, you’ll be involved in a construction project from conception to construction. Students collaborate with the Moscow Affordable Housing Trust to design and build small homes that help address local affordable housing needs.
The University Honors Program engages highly motivated undergraduate students in challenging and creative academic experiences focused on exploring and solving the issues of today and tomorrow.
Through Vandal Solutions in the College of Business and Economics, students work with real clients on real-world business challenges to build professional experience before graduation.

Transfer admission requirements
The following requirements apply to transfer students with more than 14 transferable semester credits earned after high school graduation:
2.0 GPA: Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (C average) on all transferable college-level courses from accredited institutions.
2.8 GPA: Students transferring from out-of-state colleges and universities into any program in the College of Engineering must present a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher.
Some programs may have additional transfer requirements — check with your intended department.
