Financing Your Education - 2014-15 Applying for financial aid and scholarships at the University of Idaho is EASY!

*VWY025*

Financial Aid Timeline for the University of Idaho September to February 15 Complete the admission process to receive priority consideration for all merit-based scholarships. Set up VandalWeb and VandalMail accounts at www. vandalsetup.uidaho.edu with information included in your admission letter.

December to February Award notification begins for those students who have been admitted and who qualify for the guaranteed academic merit programs.

January to February 15 Apply for need-based scholarships and other financial aid by filing a FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Estimate income to file the FAFSA by February 15, then make corrections when 2013 tax returns are complete. If there are special circumstances that affected your family income in the past year, contact Student Financial Aid Services to determine if we may be able to recalculate your federal financial aid eligibility. Examples include loss of employment, large out-of-pocket medical expenses, etc. Make plans to attend Vandal Friday.

March Admitted students will be automatically considered for merit-based awards by university-wide scholarship committees. Students with a FAFSA on file will be considered for need-based financial aid. Respond to any request for additional information from the financial aid office. Complete award letters that include all sources of financial aid will be sent in late March. Create a school year budget to figure out how you will pay for college expenses. Attend Vandal Friday and register for fall classes.

April Accept awards on VandalWeb. Make plans for living in the residence halls or Greek housing.

July Watch for your billing statement and review your charges and financial aid awards. Sign master promissory notes and complete entrance counseling for loans. Explore payment options and finalize your budget before school starts in August.

August Welcome to the University of Idaho!

What’s next? Check your Vandal Mail weekly and follow up when we request information or notify you of actions you need to take (accepting scholarships, signing promissory notes, providing additional information to complete the FAFSA, etc.) Vandal Mail is our primary form of communication with all students before and during the school year.
