SUPPORT THROUGH SPORT THIS WORLD CANCER DAY This coming World Cancer Day will take place on Saturday 4 February. Being on a weekend provides a unique opportunity for sport groups and organisations to create greater visibility and involvement in sharing the message that ‘We can. I can.’ all be active in the fight against cancer.
In 2017, let’s harness the collective power of sportspeople across the globe to show their support on World Cancer Day, big and small, professional and amateur. All clubs, teams, athletes, officials and sport fans have the opportunity to fight cancer together.
We’re asking you to reach out through your network of sport ambassadors, groups, clubs and federations, to explore how you can create an activity or event and make some noise around the Day.

World Cancer Day 2017 — Support Through Sport Toolkit
WHY SPORT? Like World Cancer Day, sport allows everyone at every level to participate and get involved. Partnering with sport groups will help us amplify the natural synergies in messaging and common areas of interest between the cancer community and sport, including being physically active, creating healthy cities, schools, and workplaces, and joining forces to make a difference.
WORLD CANCER DAY TEAMS UP WITH THE MOVEMBER FOUNDATION "World Cancer Day and the Movember Foundation are both truly global movements, and it makes perfect sense for us to extend our fight against cancer to include this brilliant campaign. Movember is excited and honored to be named a Visionary Partner of World Cancer Day, and hopes to engage its 5 million plus Mo Bro's and Sista's next February 4th to raise critical global awareness”. Owen Sharp, Chief Executive Officer Movember Foundation
LET’S WORK TOGETHER
“This partnership with the Movember Foundation represents an exciting opportunity to bring World Cancer Day to an even wider audience, to ensure the Day achieves maximum impact. With our core objective of getting as many people as possible to see, read and hear about World Cancer Day, we recognise the power of the Mo community to amplify the Day's theme of ‘We can. I can’." Cary Adams, Chief Executive Officer Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)
We’re encouraging participation at every level – from professional to amateur – so get out there and team up with your local club, team or sport event. In the case where you have a contact with, or are considering partnering with an international or professional-level club, sport personality or event, let’s join forces as we will also be directly reaching out to some major sport events and organisations. To find out if World Cancer Day is already partnering with an event, ambassador or club that you are considering, contact World Cancer Day Campaign Manager, Thuy Khuc-Bilon at info@worldcancerday.org or on +41 22 809 1823.
