(Welcome)
to an educational experience like none found anywhere else in the world
In traditional times, M anoa valley was expertly cared for and cultivated by Native Hawaiians. In return, it provided an abundance of sustenance and protection for its residents. Today, M anoa continues to furnish the resources that enable our institution to be a thriving land-, sea-, space-, and sun- grant university. In keeping with the Native Hawaiian manner of reciprocity, these blessings are passed on to you in the form of academic excellence so that you are equipped to take care of yourself, humanity, Hawai‘i, and the world.

This experience has been beneficial as it allowed me to get hands on experiences in engineering rather than being in the classroom and learning about theory. I also got to put my skills to the test, contributed to real life products and made great connections with alumni. LA’I VIERNES
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENT
Professor Ray and his advanced engineering students have really helped us by creating chocolate molds and designs that were not available anywhere else in the world. When we really started talking about my needs as a business and what he does with his work, we found this perfect sweet spot to be innovative and utilize the talents of local people. ERIN KANNO UEHARA OWNER, CHOCO LE‘A
We first come to Choco Le‘a to see what they need. Then we make some rough sketches and go back to the students who are the innovators here. They translate the ideas into something that can be produced into pieces of chocolate, develop the prototypes and use 3D Printers to make molds. The students are able to determine what really works during the entire process.” DR. TYLER RAY
