UH Mānoa is ranked 306 out of 18,000 universities worldwide (Center for World University Rankings, 2018). On a national level, UH Mānoa is ranked 159 of all the universities in the U.S. (US News & World Report, 2018). Many of our individual programs have high rankings as well. These rankings are due to the quality of education, the quality of our faculty, quality of our publications, number of research output, and employment of graduates.
UH Mānoa’s student body is a reflection of Hawaii’s reputation of being one of the most diverse places in the U.S. Over 140 countries and regions make up the UH Mānoa student population. As a result, UH Mānoa is ranked sixth of U.S. national universities in ethnic diversity (US News and World Report, 2018). In addition to a great academic experience, you will develop cross cultural communication and gain multicultural experiences that will be invaluable.
UH Mānoa is one of the safest and most secure campuses in the U.S. Among the most attended universities in the U.S., UH Mānoa is ranked seventh in safety resources (College Stats, 2017). UH Mānoa is also ranked 74 in safety out of 2,167 four year colleges and universities (Alarms.org, 2017). This is due to 24-hour security officers on duty, emergency call boxes throughout the campus, safety escort services, a safety and emergency mobile application, and a comprehensive public safety website. It is always good to be aware of your surroundings, but it is reassuring to know that you are in a safe environment.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS A healthy mind and body is key to academic success. At UH Mānoa, we provide that balance with the Warrior Rec Center (pictured), one of the best recreational facilities in Hawai‘i. Through our intramural sports program, complete against other students in sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, or table tennis. Student Recreational Services offers hiking excursions, surf lessons, sailing lessons, stand up paddle (SUP), or kayaking. If you would like to do activities on your own, equipment rental is available.
SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS The Office of International Student Services is the #1 resource for international students at UH Mānoa. They prepare you before your arrival to Hawai‘i, assist you with student visa clearance, introduce you to the campus through an orientation event and week of activities, provide programs that help promote crosscultural adjustment, and provide continued support throughout your academic career.

A $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation has enabled UH Mānoa to build the Cyber-Enabled Collaboration Analysis Navigation and Observation Environment or CyberCANOE; a data visualization system said to be the best in the country.
The Hawai‘i Space Flight Laboratory gives UH Mānoa the distinction of being the only university in the world to have both satellite fabrication capabilities with unique, direct access to orbital space.

Athletics and the UH Band programs are huge traditions at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Approximately 450 student athletes compete on 21 NCAA Division I teams with an additional 300 students performing in marching and concert bands.
