Foundation Report 2013
Father undertakes marathon climb out of love for his daughter Lilah Sitting at 8,848 metres above sea level, the Mount Everest peak is the highest point on Earth. It takes months of training and days to climb. Local climbing enthusiast Greg Adams is bringing Everest to Kingston by completing a Mount Everest equivalent climb at the Boiler Room Climbing Gym on December 6 and 7, 2013. Greg plans to climb the section of the Boiler Room called “the chimney” approximately 300 times in 24 hours to raise funds for pediatric care in Kingston. Greg was driven to complete this daunting task after his second daughter, Lilah, received care at Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital

after being born with a heart defect called Tricuspid Atresia. “She was kept in the [Neonatal Intensive Care Unit] for about seven days for monitoring to make sure she was in a position where she could come home with us,” said Greg. “Those are very, very challenging days where you want to be able to take your baby home.” It is important to Greg to give back to the organizations that helped care for Lilah over the past two years.
Greg Adams trains for the event. Inset is his daughter, Lilah.
His goal is to raise $50,000 for both UHKF and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. No official numbers have been
calculated yet and donations are still being accepted on his fundraising page: http://uhkf.kintera. org/faf/home/default. asp?ievent=1075267.
