NEWS Cheetah 30/80 E Full electric chipper <3.5t The Cheetah 30/80 E is the first all-electric wood chipper in the world. This machine can chip wood up to a diameter of 30 cm (!) without sacrificing capacity compared to the diesel-powered machine. Both the chipping disc and the entire hydraulic system are electrically driven. The whole system is low-maintenance compared to a dieseldriven machine and the cost per hour is much lower. All together, the machine remains under the weight of 3500 kg for transport without a truck/tractor. The machine is available with different battery packs, making it suitable for any application. Think interchangeable battery packs and extended range battery packs. The machine has

a low-noise production, which also reduces noise when chipping in residential areas. In addition, the emission-free drive is a pioneer in the field of tenders in environmental (city-) areas■
Greentec Piranha 10 We are currently working hard on a new stump grinder called the Piranha 10. This PTO-driven stump grinder is characterised by a grinding wheel of Ø 1000 mm on which 56 grinding teeth are placed. The machine has a swivel range of no less than 3.5 metres. Optionally, 8 cutter knives can be fitted on the sides. Thanks to its special arm construction, the Piranha 10 has a long reach, making grinding on slopes, along ditch edges or behind trenches an easy job. The machine can work up to 1450 mm deep, after which the dozer beam under the machine can easily close the hole. The deflector is hydraulically adjustable, allowing you to minimise scattering and work safely and quickly. Finally, the machine comes standard with electrically operated
joysticks. The Greentec Piranha 10 is suitable for tractors of 150 - 400 hp■
Special: Truck with 962 motor side fed For a German client, Ufkes Greentec recently assembled a 962 wood chipper with side-feed on a new Mercedes truck. A matching trailer with tipping function was also designed, allowing the entire set to do service around German highways. The 962 is the first with a 780 HP MAN engine which is now also optionally available for other versions of the 962 wood chippers. With this specially designed machine, it fulfils the customer wish to be quickly transportable and to carry out the work with only 1 person. The side feed and the available timber crane allow the material to be processed quickly and safely, with the chips being collected directly in the
tipper. More about this machine soon. Ideal is the Ufkes Gator with which this machine is fitted. With this splitter, you can split logs up to Ø100 cm, and then easily chip them in the wood chipper■

DIRECT CONTA GOOD SERVIC The company of Carsten Pilzecker is located in Mechernich, Germany. The company was founded in 1997 by Carsten Pilzecker as a forestry company. In the company's early days, the main activities were forest thinning and related matters. Over the years, the company started to focus more on tree care. Pilzecker therefore aims on jobs that are too big for the landscaper but too small for the forester. This includes pruning up tree rings, felling trees and stripping trees in hard-to-reach places. Pilzecker thus offers a complete range of services: tree maintenance and felling, chipping, stump grinding and replanting.
Greentec 942/13
To carry out these operations efficiently, Pilzecker has had a Greentec wood chipper combination since 2019. The first Greentec machine was a used Greentec 94012 chipper combination with a 12m3 high tipper. With the want for more capacity, lower ground pressure and flexibility, Pilzecker invested in 2022 in a new Greentec 942/13 combi chipper with high tipper function.
High tipper
The choice for again a wood chipper with a high tipper was easy for Pilzecker, "I will always choose a high tipper. The advantage of the high tipper is mainly seen because it can be used for several applications, it is ideal for transferring to a tipper truck or container, but of course also for tipping in order to make piles" The combi chipper is ideal for Pilzecker because there are often

only two people working on a job. The chipping work can therefore be done with one person as the feeding is done with the crane. Entire bunches of branches can be fed in without any additional sawing. The chips are taken away immediately, leaving a clean workplace.
Easy to operate
The chipper is powered by the Valtra N174 Twintrac with 200 hp, which handles the machine very well. The machine is easy to operate from the clear cab, and the swivel function of the driver's seat is ideal. Carsten himself works 70% on the chipper combination, the other 30% is driven by his son, who is currently training for forester. "The clear and intelligent controls make it easy to send the machine into the field with changing drivers. This allows the machine to be used often and quickly"
Valuable chips
Chipping is done with a 70mm screenunit as standard. With this screenunit, the machine produces beautiful and coarse wood chips that meet G50 quality. These valuable chips are temporarily stored. On a frequent basis, the chips are sold and the regular (Dutch) customer comes to load chips for biomass.

maintenance, apart from lubrication and cleaning, does not really apply to the machine. Pilzecker says there are short lines of communication with the Ufkes Greentec workshop. So far, everything can be easily solved by phone, even at weekends. These short lines of communication with the service helped ensure that Ufkes Greentec was chosen again■

Advantages of high tippers If you choose a high tipper, you choose efficiency. A high tipper is versatile and therefore ideal for any type of job for fast, clean and efficient work. With a high tipper, you always provide a clean workplace because the wood chips are immediately collected and taken away.
Small job: ■ Chipping on site ■ Taking away and unloading (at home) on the ground.
The fact that a high tipper can unload both on the ground and in a container or between drives makes it more versatile. High tippers are available with various wood chippers and are available with 8, 13, 20 and 25 m3 capacity.
Large job: ■ Chipping and collecting ■ Unloading into a tipper or silage wagon ■ Filling the intermediate driver with pipe ■ Being able to continue working in your own bunker after the intermediate driver has left■

EMPLOYEES IN THE PICTURE JOB OFFERS:
EGBERT JAN - ENGINEER Ufkes Greentec has a team of enthusiastic employees who work hard on quality machines and good service day after day. I have been working at Ufkes Greentec for two years now. Two years is quite a long time for many, but for me it feels as if I just signed my contract last week. The past two years have flown by. "Never a dull moment" is how I experience it. I feel completely at home where I am: in mechanical engineering and in the engineering department to be precise. As an engineer, you translate the customer's wishes, together with Jippe's experience and ideas, into a machine that works on the computer screen. You start by roughly laying out the machine. The crane, chipper and engine in place. Sparring with colleagues is also important at this stage. There is always an issue you don't know the ins and outs of, but with the team of colleagues there will always be someone who has experienced something similar. You then take this practical input into the design. Next, you calculate whether the solutions devised are strong enough for practical use. In the most recent machine is a 6-cylinder M.A.N. engine with 780 hp. The drive shafts, v-belts and timing belts have to be strong enough to handle that power. At this stage, you actually check the whole machine regarding expectations about strength, safety and capacity. Finally, you work out all
the parts so that the welders can make the chassis and the mechanics can then further build the machine. The great thing within Ufkes is that you see the whole machine grow. Loose fittings become a chassis, a chassis becomes a body and a body becomes a sturdy wood chipper. I often take the time to look around the workshop. The welders and mechanics often have a good idea to increase productivity or improve the accessibility of assembled parts. No matter how detailed we work out the machines in Solidworks, the course of a 2-1/2" hydraulic hose is still difficult to plot on a drawing. It is great that, with the knowledge of the entire Ufkes team, we manage to translate the customer's wishes into a reliable machine time after time. The fact that together we exceed the customer's expectations is wonderful and gives teamwork an enormous boost! It is great to be a link in the chain, because a drawing alone does not make a machine. It takes the whole Ufkes team. And that makes Ufkes unique■

FACTORY CERTIFIED 8
Under the heading "Factory Certified", young used Greentec machines are given a second life. The machines obtained on trade-in are thoroughly overhauled in Drachten and fitted with new parts such as bearings, knives and wear plates. This overhaul of the machine in combination with the knowledge available gives the machine a "Factory certified" designation. This certification comes with a three-month warranty. This makes these machines a good alternative for customers looking for used machine of good quality. "We know how we built the machine at the time, we know the maintenance history and we are familiar with all the hardware and software parts on the machine" says Gerard Kooy, sales manager used machines. "With this knowledge, we can properly assess how the machine can enter into a second life." In addition to a nice and attractive product range for the customer, this also means a nice contribution to the required sustainability of the supplier. "We build machines that can take a beating. Because of this robust construction, Greentec machines can really serve for years and years. With the Factory certified seal of approval, these machines are again ready for the future". COMPANY IN FOCUS
SERVICE DESK To get the most out of the machines but also to answer practical questions, fix breakdowns and supply the right parts, there is the Service desk at Ufkes Greentec. In this article, a look at the daily operations of this service desk. First and second line help
Ufkes Greentec has an extensive service organisation that aims to minimise machine downtime for its customers. For this reason, Ufkes Greentec offers firstand second-line service to both customers and dealers and service partners for the various Ufkes Greentec products. "We work both centrally and regionally to serve customers quickly" says Erik van der Ree, service manager. "Because we work regionally with our dealers and service partners, they can take care of the first-line support towards the customer" With this, it is immediately clear how the service desk works: providing support and training to dealers and service partners from a central location and should they be unable to
12
GREENTEAM MAGAZINE
work things out with the customer, the Ufkes team is ready to help them as second-line help remotely or if necessary on site. This working method is very efficient for machines which are sold all over the world.
Modern means
For contact with the customer; telephone, video calls and WhatsApp groups are used, among other things. Together with the machine information available from each machine, we can quickly get to the heart of the matter. "The other day we found a question from a service partner who had received an error code of the customer. By sending a short video, we were able to quickly find out what it was and isolate the problem." New employees at dealers are also experiencing the benefit of modern tools. They make contact faster and more efficiently, thereby learning faster and becoming familiar with the machine.
Machine-specific information
Machine-specific information is available for each machine produced. This describes exactly which machine it is, what options it has, what components the
machine has and of course its history. This makes it very easy to retrieve information based on the serial number if there is a question. "It can happen that a machine of, let's say, 5 years old has a different type of engine or control. By consulting the machine information, we quickly have the correct components clear, so that we can immediately send the correct parts in case this should be necessary." says Erik.
Simulate
The service desk also has the ability to simulate machine control. This allows the situation in the field to be simulated and solutions to be sought without having to send a service engineer out. If the problem can be solved remotely, the steps to be taken can be communicated directly with the customer.
Parts and accessories
Because the engineering of machines is in-house, innovative solutions, practical accessories and various wear parts are continuously brought to market. In addition to being available on new machines, existing machines can often be equipped with these improved products. The service desk is therefore very familiar with the possibilities of new accessories and wear parts on existing machines.
Trend
The trend you see is, thanks to providing information, action can be taken increasingly faster so that machines are quickly operational again. Especially around the "predictable" service questions such as preventive maintenance, wear parts and operating options, there is the ambition to make videos of these. This will create a library of service videos that the mechanic can consult himself. "We register the incoming questions and can therefore quickly recognize a pattern. By providing the most frequently asked questions with a video clip, we can help the customer even faster."■
Greentec GATOR The Gator wood splitter is available as an option on various Ufkes Greentec wood chippers. With this Gator, thick tree trunks can easily be split after which they can be processed by the wood chipper. One of the features of the Gator wood splitter is its pointed jaws. This pointed jaw makes it possible to penetrate and split heavy logs with the least resistance. The heavy cylinder has a force of 20 (!) tons and easily squeezes the log splitter. There is also an additional cylinder which opens the log splitter for the clear working position and closes it for the compact transport position. The log splitter is easily operated from the central GCS control system or directly on the tractor hydraulics. With the log crane, the logs are placed on the log splitter after which it splits them. After this, the cleaved log parts can be easily fed into the chipper. With this option, it is possible to split logs of up to 100 centimetres into manageable sections. This makes the wood chipper even more effective■

SERVICE AND ADVICE
GREENTEC CO SYSTEM 3.0 Every Ufkes Greentec machine is designed with efficiency, durability and ease of use in mind. An important link to this is the Greentec Control System, or GCS, which provides the intelligence for each machine. The design of the GCS is based on a number of principles such as a modular approach, international usability, added value for the operator and, of course, easy to use. With these principles, a whole network has since been created around machine control. To get a practical picture of the possibilities of the controls, here are the most common settings that increase the pleasure of working with the machine even further!
1. Change operators Every operator has his own way of working and a preference for the settings of the machine. Because it often happens that the machine is operated by different operators, the GCS system allows you to change the crane's preferred settings with a few presses on the screen. With this capability, the machine will immediately switch to the preset values of the particular operator. There are 3 operator profiles possible in the system.
2. Learning Mode
It is often difficult to get to know a machine if you have never worked with it before. Especially for this, there is the possibility to work with different operator profiles where the settings of the crane are programmed in a "learning mode". This makes it easy for a new operator to master the crane where the timber crane is adjusted
14
GREENTEAM MAGAZINE
SERVICE AND ADVICE
ONTROL just a little slower. With a few presses on the screen, an experienced operator easily adjusts the settings again!
3. Adjusting the chipping length
It may happen that the chop length of the material to be processed needs to be adjusted. For example, it may be necessary to change the class of biomass or to produce chippings for use as ground cover. In all these cases, the GCS screen can easily be used to adjust the chipper length according to the customer's or client's requirements.
4. Choosing the material to be processed
A common situation is that the material to be processed is rather different in structure. For example, in addition to heavy trunks, you may also need to process crowns and branches. By making the selection on the display for the material to be fed in, the operator can easily and quickly change with one touch of the screen. The advantage is that the machine remains tuned to the material to be processed, ensuring maximum processing capacity.
5. Capacity
To get the maximum capacity out of the machine but not overload the machine, the GCS 3.0 has an intelligent program. This automatically adjusts settings such as pressure on the top roller, whether or not to feedback and the moment of stopping the feed.
7. Eco-mode
More info:
It may happen that the machine does not have to run at full production. For example, along the road in the situation that the material to be processed is not yet ready or it concerns small piles of pruning waste. In these cases, the machine can simply be set to eco mode, where the engine will maintain a lower speed and thus use considerably less diesel. All settings are also automatically adjusted to the lower speed. An additional advantage is that the machine produces less noise. This is why the machine is often set to eco mode during work in urban areas.
8. Emergency program
Nothing is more annoying than aborting work because of a malfunction in the system. Real malfunctions are rare, but it can happen that a button on the joystick does not work. All these functions can also be operated on the screen or even manually, allowing the machine to complete jobs at all times.
9. Languages
The program of the GCS 3.0 has all the necessary languages, making it easy for foreign personnel to operate the machine■
6. Activation of joysticks
To work safely with the joysticks, the display can enable or block these joysticks. The automatic blocking of the joysticks prevents dangerous situations if the sticks are touched inadvertently. For example, when getting in and out of the cabin, when lifting the timber crane during sawing or when moving the combination

TIPS & TRICKS
STUMP GRINDING After sawing, the stump remains. Often an obstacle that is grinded away. Grinding a stump can sometimes be quite tricky. The tips below will make grinding just a little easier, more fun and safer! 1. Choose the right stump grinder
The choice of machine often depends on two points: 1) the number of stumps to be grinded and 2) terrain conditions. For many smaller stumps to be grinded on a site, a hydraulically driven SHARK stump grinder attached to the crane or mower arm is ideally suited. Due to the long reach of the boom, many stumps can be grinded in a short period of time. It can also be used to remove stumps on the other side of a ditch, behind a wall or over a hedge. If the stumps are far apart, a Greentec PIRANHA stump grinder attached to a tractor is much more efficient due to the large transport distances. Greentec PIRANHA stump grinders are specially designed for high capacity and therefore ideally suited for jobs with many thick logs.
2. Work safely
Provide a safe working environment where there are no people in the immediate area. Remove loose pieces of wood, stone and other loose objects from the stump. In addition, make sure that the machine is not standing halfway on the road and that any cuttings splashed away are not thrown towards the roadside.
3. Position the machine
Make sure the machine is stable and that the machine
16
GREENTEAM MAGAZINE
does not need to be moved in between grinding the stump.
4. Method
With a hydraulically driven machine, you start grinding over the stump at the back and the chains prevent minimal splashing of the material. With most PTO-driven machines, you can start from the front of the stump and the material grinded away is collected by the rubber screens.
5. Let the machine do the work
By using the auto pilot you make sure the machine does the work. This saves fuel and prevents the chisels from becoming unsharp quickly.
6. Move the deflector along
Ensure a safe environment by moving the deflector along with the grinding depth. This prevents chips from scattering away■
