For many years, the evening of Remembrance Sunday has been the chosen time for the Annual Sea Service at Ferryden United Free Church. The Service has a long history going back to the days when there was a thriving Fishing industry within the village. Today there is a very busy port with seamen from many parts of the world arriving at the harbour which serves both Ferryden and Montrose.

The guest preacher was Mr Peter Donald, Sailors Society Port Chaplain. The Church was decorated for the occasion by the Mearns family. Andrew Mearns, Session Clerk, who was the last

commercial fisherman from Ferryden, sang “Jesus Saviour pilot me” as a duet with his daughter Anne. Anne also sang a solo “Love lifted me”. The little Church in Ferryden was full to capacity on this evening when God’s goodness was remembered and his name glorified.
