Roy Lilburn (1936-2012) Elder, Erskine UF Church, Carnoustie Roy Lilburn passed away peacefully in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee on Wednesday 11th January. He is survived by his widow Anne, sons Malcolm and Andrew, daughter Linsey and his sisters Jean and Margaret. Most of Roy’s working life was spent in the Royal Navy. On his retiral to Carnoustie he became a member of Erskine and was ordained to the eldership in 1998. He served the Congregation faithfully for 14 years. Roy enjoyed his game of golf and went out regularly with his friends, ‘the one o’clock gang’. He was a real family man and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Roy will be sorely missed not only by his family but also by the Congregation at Carnoustie.

The Children’s Club, which meets in Sauchie and Fishcross UF Church every Friday evening, had a recent visit from staff members of The Leprosy Mission from both Scotland and overseas. They were responsible for part of the programme that evening. The overseas guests were taking part in special services and meetings throughout Scotland at the time of World Leprosy Day.

Running the Race:
Dunblane 25th August Plans are developing well for this year’s UF event at Dunblane High School on Saturday 25th August with the working title ‘Running the Race’. These events have proved to be encouraging opportunities to meet, worship and learn together. The keynote speaker this year will be Rev Willie Black who retired recently as minister of Stornoway High Church of Scotland. A varied programme of workshops is being put together covering topics including Coping with Mental Health, Meditation, Reliability of the Bible, Music and Reaching Your Community. There will be more information in the next issue and leaflets will be available in June. Please note the date!
