SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD •

II. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD: There are two different views –

• 1. His sovereign will (Eph.1:11; Rev.4:11). • 2. His Power. Always was -- is now -always shall be. Moses and the Red Sea -- Exodus 14:23-38 – Jericho -- Joshua 6. Daniel -- Daniel 6: 16 – 23. God will give authority to whom he wills, when he will, where he will, and how he will.

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD •

III. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN CREATION: Yet God’s

sovereignty in his creation is not always evident as we think of evident. Why would God make the rose with thorns, but not the lily? Why would God make some animals intelligent and some not? Why would God make some plants bear delicious edible fruit, but some deadly fruit? Why would God make 2/3 of the Earth covered with water, and much of the rest unihabitable? Because God is Sovereign in his creation.

– God and only God know his purpose in creating everything. Ps.42:5; Isa.66:12; Rev.4:11. – God is sovereign in his creation… Always has been, is now and obviously from scripture always will be. Ref.Heb.11:3; Gen1:1&2; Isa.43:7,21; Acts 14:17.

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD •

IV. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN REVELATION: There are two

types

of Revelation from God: • 1. Natural Revelation Romans 1:20.

– Nature (Rom. 1:12) – Manifestation of his mighty power (Heb.1:1-2; Isa.55:8 &9.).

2. Special Revelation A bird view of reading of the Bible will reveal the sovereignty of God. Still we cannot understand everything (Isa.45:15) Ref. I Cori13:12; I Tim 3:16.

The Bible Many things can only be learned through special revelation. Incarnate Jesus Christ John 1:14; Heb.1:13.

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD •

V. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN REDEMPTION: It means deliverance

from some evil by payment of a price. It is more than simple deliverance by a ransom price. • Jesus said every one commits sin is slave of that sin (John 8:34). • Paul who persecuted Christians before the encounter of God says himself that he was as carnal, sold under sin, sold under a cruel slave master (Rom. 7:14) Ref.2 Tim.2:26; John 8:34.

V. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN REDEMPTION‌. For the wages of sin is death. Failing redemption slavery would continue the sentence of death would be carried out. He has redeemed us by the blood of His son Jesus Christ I Peter 1:18-19, Ephe.1:7. --------------------------------------------------------------We are chosen and predestined by God and one day He will redeem our bodies as well Eph.1:4-6; Phil 3:20-21. Rom. 8:23.

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD •

VI. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN FINAL JUDGEMENT: • a) After the creation of the world God saw the wickedness of men on the earth. The Lord was grieved that he made man on the earth; His heart was filled with pain (Gen. 6:5-7). Only Noah found favor when God said that He will wipe the mankind from the face of the earth. God was sovereign and said in His heart • i) Never again will He curse the ground…& • ii) Never again will He destroy all living creatures as He has done.

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD VI. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN FINAL JUDGEMENT…. • b) He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice (Acts 8:21). “…men will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken” (Mathew 12:36). Each of us will give an account of ourselves to God (Rom.14:12). Ref. Acts. 17:31. • c) Judgment will be given to each person according to what he has done. The one who has stubbornness and unrepentant heart will store up wrath against himself for the day of God’s wrath. Ref.Rom.2:13; 2 Cori.5:10.

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD VI. SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD IN FINAL JUDGEMENT….

1. God’s essential activity. ( Heb:1:13) 2. Done based on the response of man to the revealed will of God 3. Mt: 16:27; Rom. 2:13; II.Cor:5:10; 4. God’s (Ps:110:6; Joel:3:12; 5. The day is determined by Him ( Acts:17:31) 6. All are judged (Mt:25:32; Rom:14:12; 7. He executes judgment with justice and truth. (Ps: 50:6; Ps:96:10,13:)

SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD VII. Conclusion 1. It is time that we understand the nature of God whom we serve. 2. If we actually believe in God, it is time that we start acting like it 3. It is time we understand that God demands more than sincerity, he demands obedience. 4. It is time we understand no one lives wrong and dies right. 5. It is time to subscribe to the age old saying, “God said it, I believe it and that settles it” 6. It is time to reach out and study the great word of God, stop compromising and start realizing. 7. Heb, 10: 31 “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 8. Be humble. Do not murmur and boost yourself (Ps.46:10). 9. Submit to God and let Him rule you (Luke 1:38). 10. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved…II Tim.2:15.
