SQUASH COURT UPDATE Since the onset of the Covid pandemic in March 2020, Sportspark has faced the most challenging financial and operational times in it’s history. Throughout this period Sportspark has endeavoured to place it’s staff and customers at the forefront of everything it does. We will continue to ensure that any decisions we make will be in the best long-term interests of the business as a whole, in order protect its longevity and support the numerous sporting opportunities that it provides to the region. With the inevitable financial losses encountered, and the ongoing turbulence of the industry, it has been essential that we take the time to review the return against activities in order to make informed decisions that will protect the business, and those reliant on it for their livelihoods. Over our 21-year history we have continually reviewed the use of our facilities and invested in new and upgraded opportunities whenever possible. However, at times this does mean that we need to make difficult decisions, in the best interests of the overall business, which may cause disappointment to certain aspects of our customer base. We never take such action lightly however, we can now confirm that the decision we took, to reduce our squash provision to 3 courts during the height of the pandemic, will be retained going forwards. As one of the most significant aspects of our overall income, and in the face of increasing local competition, it is of paramount importance for us to increase and modernise our Fitness Centre facilities, and an imminent re-investment into the fitness facilities will require this additional space. More information on the specifics of this project will be released in due course. We have investigated numerous alternative options in an attempt to avoid such an impact however, the lack of alternative spaces at Sportspark or within the wider University campus has made those options unviable. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment that this may cause to the squash fraternity at Sportspark and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
