MESSAGE FROM THE CHANCELLOR

Dear UC Santa Cruz graduate,

Congratulations on your graduation from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In your time on campus, you have shown incredible resilience, perseverance, and grace in the face of uncertainty. I am extremely proud of what you have accomplished.

Since our founding nearly 60 years ago, students have come to UC Santa Cruz because they want to make an impact — they want to be actively involved in solving the world’s complex problems. You have already helped change our campus for the better, building community in difficult times and embracing innovation and collaboration. You are exactly who the world needs right now. I will be excited to see how you will help us craft a future that strengthens us against future pandemics, leads us to a more equitable and just society, and addresses and mitigates the impacts of climate change. Your UC Santa Cruz diploma will signal to the world that you’re ready to take part in this vital work. I have hope for a bright future because of you.

I also offer my congratulations to your family, friends, mentors, and the many staff and faculty who have helped you along the way. No one gets to a point of great accomplishment alone, and they share in this special moment. You are fortunate to have such loyal supporters.
