Drop in fee option is only available at the first class session and will not be applied to the class fee should you decide to continue attending. Students may not pay on a class-by-class basis.

Payment by cash, check or Visa/MasterCard – no BARC billing.

• REFUNDS: There are no refunds except those granted at the discretion of the administrative supervisor. Request must be received prior to the third week of class should medical or other extenuating circumstances dictate.

One of our most specialized Gaucho Rec classes is Capoeira, an eclectic mix that combines Brazilian martial arts, dance, and acrobatics all set to awesomely rhythmic music. Offered on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm, Capoeira is taught by the incredible Mariano Silva, an instructor who toured with the travelling Ballet Folclórico Do Brasil for sold out crowds worldwide. Silva lives by the motto, “If you can walk, you can dance,” and lives to inspire people of all ages to explore their bodies, minds, and souls through Capoeira. Enroll in his Gaucho Rec class to experience a once in a lifetime fitness style guaranteed to embrace both your body and mind.

If you’re looking to spend more time in the water (because, really, when is it ever going to turn cold?), UCSB Recreation offers a Masters Swim class Monday-Friday from 12-1pm! Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to train with the renowned John Abrami and Mark Stori. Both coaches have over 20 years of experience in swim training. Abrami works closely with open water trainees as his background is in Master Triathlon competitions. Stori specializes in pool swim meets with a background as a nationally ranked collegiate swimmer. These two amazing coaches will have you as fit and fast as a dolphin.

The UCSB campus is located in one of the most premier diving locations along the California coast! Our kelp beds are rich with marine life and the Channel Islands boast world-class dive sites. Our instructors are top notch and respected in the local area for their style and extensive years of teaching experience, which at UCSB alone is over 35 years combined. If you want your introduction to the magnificent underwater world to be an incredible experience, then Scuba 1 will get you certified for open water and Scuba 2* will get you certified as an advanced diver. Once certified, our backyard ocean is your playground!

n important part of what makes UCSB Adventure Programs trips so spectacular is our talented staff!

Our highly trained guides and managers have a ton of firsthand experience and are very passionate about the outdoors.

If you get a chance to head to the Climbing Wall, say hi to Mason Bouchet, who oversees the Adventure Climbing Center as well as all outdoor Rock and Canyon programs. Mason loves his job on the Recreation team because he can share his passion for climbing. He’s been instructing climbers for 3 years and is a certified A.M.G.A. (American Mountain Guides Association) instructor. When he is not working for UCSB, you are still likely to find Mason involved in some sort of climbing related activity, he makes regular treks to climb at Joshua Tree National Park and recently joined the crew of The Amazing Race when the production company was filming in our local mountains.
