As we step into a new year, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support of United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile. It is an honor to serve as a trusted leader in South and Central Alabama, providing critical services to children and adults with disabilities. Every day, we are driven by our commitment to empowering individuals, expanding our reach, and improving the lives of those we serve.

One of our greatest achievements this year was completing a strategic planning process, bringing together our board, staff, and key stakeholders to shape our future. Through this effort, we have set ambitious goals: Expanding our services so more individuals and families can benefit Enhancing program quality through continuous improvements and innovation

Advocating for the rights and empowerment of individuals with disabilities

Strengthening our sustainability through financial growth, staff recruitment, and facility maintenance.

Aligned with these goals, we made significant strides, including expanding our preschool program in partnership with Chickasaw City Schools. By adding a fourth classroom, we have increased our ability to serve more preschool children with disabilities, reinforcing our reputation for excellence.

As we build on these successes, we recognize there is still much to do. Your support allows us to create lives without limits for so many. If you’re looking for ways to make an impact, visit www ucpmobile org to learn more about donating, volunteering, or spreading awareness

Thank you for being part of our mission Together, we can continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most

In early 2024, we underwent an intensive and collaborative strategic planning process, involving each and every UCP of Mobile employee along with members of our board, families we serve, and other community members. The goal of the endeavor was to identify a new mission, vision and core values for the organization while also determining how we can continue to best serve our area’s disability community.

After data collection from surveys, long-form interviews and employee meetings, we collectively developed the following mission, vision and core values.

OurCoreValues

OurMission

Empowering individuals of all abilities to embrace their potential and lead lives filled with purpose OurVision

Life without limits for people with disabilities.

In 2024, Camp SMILE once again hosted 4 weeks of traditional summer camp activities for children and adults with disabilities Campers enjoyed a week of unforgettable fun while their parents and/or caregivers enjoyed a much needed break.

The theme for 2024's camp was Pirate Crew, meaning our campers enjoyed a week of swashbuckling-themed activities. And that’s along with horseback riding, swimming, arts & crafts, color wars, games, talent shows, and much more! Camp SMILE also hosted a fall Respite Weekend for teens and adults and a Family Weekend in the spring.

Camp SMILE was also chosen by Lagniappe readers as Mobile’s “Best Overnight Summer Camp” for the second year!

StateEIandPreschool ConferenceReturns

In October, we welcomed 600 of the southeast’s early interventionists, early childhood educators, other professionals and families to Mobile as host of the Early Intervention and Preschool Conference, presented annually by UCP of Alabama. The conference gives professionals who work with children with disabilities (ages birth to 5) a chance to share information and hone new skills.

Our Adult Day Program hosted its third annual Spooky Creek Window Wash in October. The event was a great opportunity for our participants to engage in socialization and physical activity, and it helped everyone get into the Halloween spirit!

2024Governor’sDisabilityPolicySummit

We attended the Governor’s Disability Policy Summit in June. This event was an incredible opportunity to hear directly from individuals with disabilities, policymakers, and advocates It gave us a deeper understanding of the challenges and policies affecting the disability community and new tools to better advocate for inclusion and accessibility. We're sharing what we learned across our programs to strengthen our advocacy efforts and improve outcomes for the people we

serve Pictured is UCP of Mobile Vice President: Programs Kristin Hegji along with Stephanie Wright of UCP Huntsville

In 2024, we earned accreditation by CARF International for another three

This prestigious recognition is the highest level of accreditation CARF offers, showing our dedication to meeting their rigorous standards During an on-site visit, we demonstrated our commitment to providing top-quality, measurable, and accountable programs and services.

On May 23, our Preschool celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2024! Fourteen students, with and without disabilities, donned caps and gowns to honor their transition to kindergarten.
