Congratulations to March’s Greek of the Month WinnerAmanda Andrade (Delta Gamma) Amanda Andrade has been an amazing member of the Greek Community and played a vital role in HUSKYthon 2006. She was the Executive Director and became very involved in completely revamping HUSKYthon to make it an even larger success. Amanda also emphasizes the importance of community service by her involvement in Big Brothers/ Big Sisters, where she volunteers a great deal of time to spend with these children. Amanda is an “amazing member of the Greek Community and deserves recognition for all of the ways in which she contributes to the betterment of society.”

Greek Week 2006 will kick off on Sunday April 2nd and will conclude with the Greek Games on Saturday April 8th. Throughout the week, money will be collected to donate to the Make a Wish Foundation in Florida in honor of Greg Landau, a late brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi (7/7/87-3/7/06). The events are as follows: Monday: Greek Week Trivia Bowl Location: SU Theatre Time: 6-7 PM Tuesday: Judge Mitchell Crane Location: SU Theater Time: 7-8 PM

Community Service Days- A Fun and Easy Way to Help the Community! The Mansfield Parks and Rec. department is gladly welcoming thirty five volunteers to aid in clearing plants from a shrubland restoration project. These events will be held: Mansfield Parks and Recreation March 18th and 25th & April 1st 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Greek Fun Facts Over 85% of student leaders, on more than 700 campuses, are involved in sorority and fraternity life. Since 1825, when the first fraternity was founded, all but seven U.S. Presidents have been fraternity members. Of the nation’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are led by sorority women and/or fraternity men. 85% of the Fortune 500 executives are members of Greek organizations. 77% of ‘Who's Who in America’ is Greek.
Additionally, the town of Mansfield will also be accepting thirty-five participants to help pick up litter. The Clean-Up days are as follows: Mansfield Community Clean-Up March 18th and 25th & April 1st and 22nd 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Upcoming Greek Philanthropy Events! Kappa Alpha Theta will be holding a 5K Walk. All proceeds from the event will be donated to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). The event will be held on March 26th. Registration will take place from 11-11:45 and the walk will be held between 12-2. To register contact Chelsey Palmer at Chelsey.Palmer@uconn.edu Zeta Beta Tau will be holding their second annual Car Smash Philanthropy Event. The car smash will be held April 19th on Fairfield Way, across from the gym. The philanthropy event benefits the Children's Miracle Network.

Pi Beta Phi will be hosting Arrowspike, an annual volleyball tournament on March 25th. The event will be under the direction of VP Philanthropy, Crystal Huntoon. All proceeds will be donated to Links to Literacy. To register please contact Crystal Huntoon at

Pi Kappa Alpha will be holding the Pike DreamGirl Contest. The date is TBA. Beta Theta Pi will be holding a Four Square Tournament on April 1st. Registration is free. Teams of four are needed. Meet the Husky Village basketball courts at noon. Beta has already finished a letter writing campaign to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. For more information, please contact jeffrey.dressler@uconn.edu. Alpha Epsilon Pi will be hosting an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on March 26th. The cost is $30 per 6-player team. The tournament will be held at Dow Field next to the library. ΜΣΨ- Benefits of Being a Minority Greek Benefits of Being a Minority Greek Wednesday April 5th 7:00 African American Cultural Center The sisters of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Inc. would like to invite the Greek Community to their forum Benefits of Being a Minority Greek. This is an open forum designed to increase the awareness and numbers of cultural Greeks in the UCONN Community. The agenda includes a discussion to educate the college population about the benefits of being a cultural Greek- the effects it has had on their personal lives, college years, and professional careers. Come out and support the Multi-Cultural Greek Organizations!
ΔΓ & ΣΦΕ Etiquette Dinner The sisters of Delta Gamma and the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon, held an etiquette dinner on Sunday February 19th. At the etiquette dinner, Pat Callahan, a Sig Ep brother, and Lindsey Kleidman, the Vice President of Member Education of Delta Gamma, discussed various types of etiquette such as dinner, business, and travel.

As a part of Sexual Awareness Month the Women’s Center, along with the Asian American Cultural Center, and the Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern Connecticut will be hosting Not Just a Statistic an educational workshop and exhibit for sexual assault survivors, secondary survivors, allies and advocates. The evening activities will include a workshop followed by an opportunity to express yourself artistically and visually in order to educate our community. Material and projects will be supplied for the art workshop. All are welcome to attend! The Women’s Center also invites former NFL Quarterback and College All-American Don McPherson to UCONN to lead an interactive discussion and presentation entitled “What Does It Mean To Be A Man.” This workshop will address masculinity and sexual violence in today’s culture. “What Does It Mean To Be A Man” Presented by Pro Athlete Don McPherson Date & Time: Wednesday April 5th @ 4:30PM Location: CHEM A-120
This is a great opportunity to educate the members of your organization around the issue of sexual assault. The workshop is being hosted by the Women’s Center. Come out and support the UCONN community! Attend as a group and wear your letters!!
