The OFSL Book Club is returning this semester. We will be reading “Inside Greek U. — Fraternities, Sororities, and the Pursuit of Pleasure, Power, and Prestige” by Alan D. DeSantis, an in-depth look at the lessons that Greek organizations teach their members about gender, drawing on evidence gathered in hundreds of focus-group sessions and personal interviews and from his years of experience as a Greek faculty advisor.

National Hazing Prevention Week 2010 The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at UConn will once again be participating in National Hazing Prevention Week this year from September 20-24. Several events will be held during the week to educate the community about the problems of hazing, but its ultimate goal is to prevent hazing from happening in the first place. The following highlights a few of the scheduled events:

Rick Barnes is one of the nation’s top speakers on alcohol and hazing for athletes and Greeks. 30% attendance is required for Arête.
Lunch will be provided as members of the Greek community at UConn discuss methods to prevent hazing.
