Karen Abiog is a senior and a sister of Pi Beta Phi. Karen’s sisters state that her reliability and generosity are incomparable considering that she will drop anything she is doing at the drop of a hat if one of her sisters needs her assistance, guidance, or even just someone to listen to them. As a member of Pi Beta Phi, Karen has served on the Executive Board as Vice President of Communications and as New Member Coordina-
tor. In addition, Karen has been involved in Tau Sigma Honors Fraternity and has participated in intramural sports, as well as a number of other activities on campus. Karen's enthusiasm is quite evident her constant positive nature and her spontaneous and magnetic personality can cheer up anyone in the same room as her. It is without a doubt that Karen Abiog is one of the most helpful, caring, and spirited individuals in
the Greek community. She has been recognized by the Hartford and Manchester Alumnae Clubs as “Most Spirited Sophomore” and “Most Dedicated Chapter Member”. Karen is also a member of Rho Lambda, the Greek Leadership Team and the Director of Merchandise for Geno’s Cancer Team. The Connecticut Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi will not be the same without her, and her sisters will deeply miss her.

Don’t Stress for Finals! It’s hard to believe the semester is over already. Don’t stress too much for finals though! Here are some finals week study tips:
Follow these tips to reduce stress during finals week!
Start earlier rather than late
Time manage and plan ahead
Schedule in study breaks to help you recharge
Schedule in sleep—it
will help you remember and think clearly
Exercise to keep up energy Prioritize and spend time on what you know you need to most
Free your schedule— put other activities on the back burner to make time to study
Ask your professor for help if you have questions
Keep things in perspective—excessive stress is counterproductive to studying!
Form effective study groups—but don’t waste time with ineffective ones!

Congrats Sigma Gamma Rho Welcome New Chapters to
Our Community!
Sorority, Inc.! The Nu Mu chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was recognized by their Northeast Region at the 68th Northeast Regional Conference in Winston-Salem, NC. The Nu Mu chapter received the Christine E. Trigg award in recognition for Membership
Development and the Undergraduate Chapter Service Grant in recognition of their Program of Activities at UConn. Congratulations to the Nu Mu chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority, Inc.!
Alpha Delta Phi became a UConn student organization in 2008 and was voted in as the 12th IFC fraternity on April 27, 2010
Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. was welcomed back to MGC in Spring 2010 after a period of inactivity since 2008
Sigma Lambda Upsilon Sorority, Inc. gained approval by the MGC to join our Greek community in Fall 2010
Greek of The Month Sam Simons of Kappa Alpha Theta is truly an inspiration to all of her sisters. Determined and passionate about whatever she chooses to do, she is incredibly involved within Greek Life as well as on campus. As Philanthropy Chair of Kappa Alpha Theta, she coordinates chapter members’ participation in other organizations’ philanthropies as well as participating in many
herself. Sam has already begun planning Kats and Bats, a softball tournament that funds CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) that will be taking place in the fall. Also part of Husky Ambassadors, she is involved with Husky for a Day where she shows admitted students a day in the life of a college student. Very involved with admitted students, Sam also
works at the Open House where she gets to talk with admitted students and parents. Additionally, she will be working this summer as an Orientation Leader for UConn. Sam Simons is a great representation of Kappa Alpha Theta with her broad involvement on the university campus and her sorority, who displays the fraternity ideal of the widest influence for good.
