The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is looking for committed students to join our Husky Haulers team. Husky Haulers is a program to welcome new residents on move-in day. This year, over 300 fraternity and sorority members join other student volunteers throughout the day on Friday, August 28 (7am-4pm) helping new students move -in to their new on-campus home. Greek students interested in serving as a volunteer should register by May 9th to guarantee their spot. Our goal is to have at least one-third of each recognized fraternity and sorority chapter participate.

Samantha McNellis, Phi Sigma Rho

Kelley Huber, Kappa Alpha Theta

Sam has been an incredibly involved sister since she rushed Spring of 2011. In her fifth year here at UConn she has gone above and beyond for the Greek community. She has been a leader inside and outside the chapter, especially with her time on the Greek Week Management Team where she was in charge of the Greek Sing competition. We are also super proud of her for having a job as an Electrical Engineer at Electric Boat lined up for after graduation! She has worked so hard and deserves everything. Sisterhood is another important aspect in Sam's life. She is a wonderful sister of Phi Rho who is always there for everyone. She's the loudest cheerer from Greek Goddess Pageant to Lady Phi's pageant. She's the sister to call on no matter the situation. Having put in 5 years of her life into UConn and the Greek Community, Sam is extremely worthy of this recognition. She will be greatly missed after graduation and we wish her nothing but the best for her future!

Kelley joined Kappa Alpha Theta during her second year at UConn to surround herself with sisters that would take her to new heights and she has only grown during her three years in Theta. She is currently studying Human Development and Family Studies & Psychology with a minor in Women's Gender & Sexuality Studies. As a sister of Kappa Alpha Theta, Kelley has previously served as the chapter's music chair and has been active in the Greek community. This past fall, she served as both the Director of Registration and as the Director of PNM Communication for the 2014 Recruitment Management Team, bringing in a record number of PNMs. After dancing in HuskyTHON for several years, Kelley joined the 2014-2015 Management Team as the Vice President of Community Relations. Her commitment to helping the kids at CCMC raised an all-time high of over $560,000 for CT Children's. She also was involved in creating the state holiday "CT Dance Marathon Day." Aside from HuskyTHON, Kelley has been a year-round volunteer for CT Children's in several of their community fundraisers such as RadioTHON, a radio marathon, and a motorcycle ride known as Miracle Ride. Kelley's vibrant personality keeps her going around campus as a photographer for both the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Daily Campus. She was one of the original members in Greeks Against Sexual Assault (GASA), which made its debut in 2013. However, her commitment to social justice does not stop in the Greek community. Kelley is also active in a number of similar initiatives including SpeakOUT, UConnsent Day, and Take Back the Night. Kelley's commitment to serving and supporting others is a testament to her character. Kappa Alpha Theta believes that "Being a Theta leads a woman to personal excellence, offering her ways to become her best self" and Kelley has only helped others find their best self as a sister and Leading Woman on campus.

Kaitlyn Harrison, Kappa Alpha Theta

Nur Hamideh, Phi Sigma Rho

Kaitlyn joined Theta during her second year at UConn. During her first year in the chapter, Kaitlyn quickly grasped the "Leading Women" motto and took a position as the Human Resources Director, planning all of the chapter's sisterhood events. Most recently, she was the 2014 Chief Financial Officer (CFO), responsible for planning the budget and giving weekly financial updates to the chapter. Now, in her last semester, she is serving as the Member Development Committee representative for the senior class, committed to helping chapter members improve. Beyond her formal positions, she has also spent her time performing in Greek Sing during 2013 and 2014 and for HuskyTHON, most recently as a Morale Captain. Beyond her Greek involvement, Kaitlyn has been a member of the SUBOG Major Weekend Committee since 2011 and was a key role in the planning of Lip Sync for Homecoming in 2013. While staying busy on campus, Kaitlyn has also made an effort to uphold high academic standards in the classroom. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and served as an FYE mentor in 2012. She will be graduating from the School of Business with a degree in Business Management this May. Last summer, Kaitlyn worked for ABC and will be returning there after graduation to do their news and prime time ratings. Kaitlyn joined Theta to find a home away from home and could not be more grateful for the relationships she has built in the chapter. She is a firm believer that you can only take away as much as you put into something and Kaitlyn has surely put in her efforts to help the chapter grow in these past three years. Her positive energy and commitment to sisterhood is unmatched and there is no doubt that she will keep Theta with her for years to come.

Nur is an outstanding member of the UConn Greek community.

After transferring to UConn's Storrs campus in Fall 2014, she decided to Go Greek and rushed Phi Rho! And we are so thankful did. You won't meet a happier member than Nur. She's always got a smile on her face and a bounce in her step. She's thrilled to get involved in activities and events. She recently competed in Alpha Delta Phi's Lady Phi Pageant philanthropy event. Service and leadership are also important values to Nur as she volunteers throughout the year wherever she can and has received a job as an RA for next year! She couldn't be happier and we couldn't be prouder.

Scholarship is one of the most important values in Greek Life as we are also attending UConn to receive an education, first and fore most. Nur shows her dedication to scholarship by her long study dates in ITE with her sisters, sometimes even pulling all nighters.

She also works on research for a lab her on campus. Her enthusiasm for her research is infectious; it's inspiring how excited she gets when she talks about it. She has great plans for her future in Chemical Engineering! Nur is an incredible sister of Phi Sigma Rho and deserves nothing less than this recognition.

The OFSL would like to say thank you for all of the service that Alex and Monique provided the Greek community with. You both will be missed and we all wish you good luck wherever life takes you next!

We are excited to welcome our two new Graduate Assistants in the Higher Education & Student Affairs Master’s Program for 2015-2017: Rebecca Weintraub is a 2013 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, where she studied Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies, and served as President of Kappa Delta. She has worked at F&M in the Office of College Programs and as the Jewish Life Coordinator.

Garret Zastoupil is graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2015 with a major in Business and a minor in Leadership. He served as Vice President of Member Development for Beta Theta Pi. Fun fact: Both Rebecca and Garret worked in their respective FSL offices, and both had study abroad experiences in Ireland!

The OFSL would like to wish a Happy Founder’s Day this summer to the following organizations: OFSL is Moving!

“We are pleased to announce that we will be relocating to a larger space in the Student Union for Fall 2015! The Fraternity/Sorority Community Center will be in Suite 203 (above Chuck & Augie’s) and will include programming space for fraternities and sororities and office space for the Greek Councils.
