HuskyTHON 2010 took place from 6pm Saturday February 20 to 12pm Sunday February 21. This year the 18-hour dance marathon raised $150,228 for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center! This is more than has ever been raised at HuskyTHON before! Since the first dance marathon for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in 1999, the event has
raised over $440,000 for Children’s Miracle Network and CCMC. Twenty-six families of CCMC came to HuskyTHON and dancer and volunteers got the chance to interact and play with the children that all of the money raised benefits. There were inflatable games, food, music and dancing all night. There was a dollar raffle throughout the night with a variety
of donated prizes as well as numerous other fundraisers which raised money for the cause. Everyone’s hard work definitely paid off. This year, HuskyTHON raised 39% more than the grand total of $107,539 of 2009. Everyone should be extremely proud of their hard work, fundraising and dedication for the kids at CCMC!
Greek Life Book Club The Greek Life Book Club will be meeting on 3/24/10 from 12:30-2 pm in SU 325 and 4/29/10 from 4:30-6 pm in SU 410 to discuss Smashed by Koren Zailckas. This book is a NY Times Bestseller about a

Upcoming Philanthropies Sigma Chi’s Derby Days Sigma Chi will be hosting their annual philanthropy Derby Days from March 22-March 25. This philanthropy consists of a variety of events where the object is to collect as many of the brothers’ derby hats as possible to gain points. Points are awarded to each team and the final event is the Sigma Chi Sweetheart competition. Who will be crowned this year’s Sigma Chi Sweetheart? We’ll have to wait and see. Everyone should get excited for this fun event which benefits the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Alpha Epsilon Phi’s Kick for Kids
Delta Zeta’s Turtle Kick
The sisters of Alpha Epsilon Phi will be hosting their annual kickball philanthropy Kick for Kids. The kickball tournament will take place on Sunday, March 28, from 12-3 PM at the North basketball courts. Teams will compete fraternity and sorority categories to see who will win this year’s kickball tournament. This philanthropy is always a lot of fun so be sure to sign up for your organization’s team! All proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.
The sisters of Delta Zeta will be hosting their annual soccer tournament philanthropy Delta Zeta’s Turtle Kick on Sunday, March 28 from 12-4 PM at Dow Field. Teams will compete in fraternity and sorority categories for the soccer tournament. Soccer players get ready for this event because the competition is always fierce! All proceeds will be donated to the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford. Save the date and don’t forget to come cheer on the teams and support a great cause!

Senior Spotlight: Liz Stolow— Kappa Alpha Theta Liz Stolow is a spirited and outstanding member of both the Greek Community as well as the UConn community as a whole. She has held various positions in Kappa Alpha Theta and has consistently outdone herself with her determination and personality. Her Senior year has been nothing short of memorable, being crowned as UConn's 2009 Homecoming queen and helping to lead Theta & ZBT to an amazing
Homecoming. Furthermore, Liz is passionate outside of the Greek community in her work as a UConn tour guide and off campus leader. Known as a caring, fun and lively friend, she has impacted so many of her peers in her four years at UConn; she is always our go-to-girl. She will graduate in the Spring with a legacy of loyalty, purpose and friendship.

Greeks of the Month Katie Contant — Alpha Phi Katie proves to be a wonderful leader by providing the Alpha Phi Chapter as a member of the Executive Board for the second year in a row. She serves the community by participating in as many events as possible throughout the course of the semester and has a deep connection to our philanthropy of Cardiac Care. She is a high achiever when it comes to her academics and strives for only the best. As a member of the business school, she obtains a GPA that shows just how dedicated she
is to all that she does in her life. This semester Katie Contant is also demonstrating her excellent work ethic by working as an intern for the Price Waterhouse Coopers Accounting firm in Hartford. Although she works a minimum 40 hours a week she still manages to provide only the best for our chapter as Vice President of Chapter Operations. She truly cares about each member of the chapter and is an individual dedicated to developing strong sisterly bonds with each and every member.
Edgar Ferreras — Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. Edgar has exuded the qualities of leadership through his evolvement within Iota Phi Theta as the events committee chair. Also, he serves currently on NPHC Executive Board as Secretary and takes his position in both organizations seriously. His GPA always stays above the international organization's requirement and prides himself on it, as do all of the active brothers. To exemplify
his service efforts Edgar along with the President, Joshua Freeman are serving as the chapter liaisons between the planning of an IOTA Youth Alliance Mentoring Program within the city of Hartford with our graduate chapter members. He is always looking for new and exciting ways to serve his community due to himself growing up with the inner city surroundings.

Know Ur RHOle: Nu Mu StRHOll Off! The sisters of the Nu Mu chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated are hosting a stroll off. All strolling organizations are invited to participate, whether from NPHC, MGC or any council. The event will take place Saturday, March 27, from 8-11 PM in Student Union 304. It is $5 per team (maximum 10 people per team) and $2 general admis-
sions for everyone. There will only be one team allowed to participate per organization on a first come first serve basis. UNITE Meetings: Tuesdays at 5 PM! The members of UNITE would like to encourage members of all councils interested in women’s issues to attend our weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 5pm in Student Union 316. UNITE is taking a new direction this semester, and is planning on having different events and programming for the Greek Life community. Each week we discuss a different topic
which affects women. Some of the programming planned for this semester include guest speakers from the Nutrition Department and Health Education, attending Take Back the Night, and volunteering at local women’s shelters. UNITE is always looking for new members so please feel free to stop by a meeting and check it out.

IMPACT (left), a leadership institute for 90 UConn fraternity/sorority students, was held Feb. 12-14 at Camp Jewell. NGLA (right), the Northeast Greek Leadership Association conference, brought 35 UConn students and staff together with 750 peers from 80 schools to learn how to advance our councils and Greek community. It was held Feb. 18-21 in Hartford.
