this issue: page 1: Emerging Leaders Conference page 2: Senior Spotlight The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is pleased to announce the 2011 Greek Emerging Leaders Conference! It will be held on Sunday, February 13th, 2011, in the Student Union. Approximately 100 emerging leaders from the fraternity and sorority community, as selected by their respective chapters, will be in attendance. This year’s theme for the Emerging Leaders Conference is “Find Your Rhythm.” The event will kick off with keynote speaker Fleurette King, Director of the Rainbow Center. Throughout the day students and staff will offer presentations on various topics about leadership within the Greek community and beyond. Conference participants will be to explore different approaches to leadership, build on existing leadership skills as well as gain new ones, and to network with other emerging leaders within the fraternity and sorority community. Support the attendees from your chapter and encourage them to come with an open mind and ready to learn and have a good time! If you are one of those attendees, get excited and be prepared to find your rhythm!

Christina Smith from Delta Zeta Christina is an individual who truly stands out in the Greek Community. She is described as an amazing listener, giver, friend and leader. Christina served as Delta Zeta’s past Vice President of Membership and worked extremely hard in her chapter’s recruitment efforts in both the spring for informal recruitment and the fall during formal recruitment. She has worked extremely hard and put in countless hours of her time for her chapter as well as kept her entire chapter focused, together and spirited throughout the recruitment process. Not only is Christina a great leader, but she is a genuinely good person who is always there for her sisters and friends.
Presidents Appreciation Day National Presidents Day is around the corner! This year it lands on Monday, February 14, 2011. The OFSL would like to show appreciation for all the hard work our presidents have and will be doing in their role as president. On February 14, we will be hosting a President’s Appreciation Luncheon from 12pm1pm in SU 303. Presidents, please join us as we boat your present and future accomplishments with a delicious lunch.

HuskyTHON 2011!!! HuskyTHON is a yearlong fundraising effort by students at the University of Connecticut which culminates in an eighteen hour dance marathon that takes place on the weekend of February 19th—20th, 2011. Funds raised benefit Connecticut Children's Medical Center through Children's Miracle Network to help care for children with lifethreatening illnesses. Project Arête Accreditation Program Most chapters who submitted binders in both 2009 and 2010 improved their overall percentage. Special congratulations to ing chapters for reaching Gold-level status (90% or above ble points) in the 2010 accreditation year: Delta Gamma, Gamma, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta Pi, Delta Zeta, Pi Beta Phi, and Kappa Sigma.

The 4th Annual NPHC The Art of Storytelling Step Show occurred on January 22nd, 2011 and it was a huge success.
