OLLI Movie Club
The OLLI at UCLA Movie Club meets once a month and is centered around watching quality, modern films and having a discussion afterward. The facilitator will select films that are available on Netflix; members should screen the film at home before meeting with the group on Zoom. Discussions center around story, symbolism, cinematography, presentation, and of course–our personal reactions to the film.

Virtual Tour: The Hammer Museum
The Hammer Museum at UCLA believes in the promise of art and ideas to illuminate our lives and build a more just world. Tours at the Hammer are conversation based, meaning that educators ask open-ended questions about what the group sees and notices in the works covered, and hopefully facilitate a lively dialogue with everyone. One virtual tour is offered every quarter, exclusively for OLLI at UCLA members, and will highlight several works from current exhibits. To learn more about current and upcoming exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, visit: hammer.ucla.edu. REG# 387303 | INSTRUCTOR: Hammer Museum Student Educators TIME: 1-2pm, DATE: Tours will be offered on either Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. Virtual Tour: The Coppedè District of Rome
Gino Coppedè, often compared to Frank Lloyd Wright and Antoni Gaudí as a modern design visionary, joined with a private real estate developer from Genoa to create the first 'gated community' in Rome. Designed with a rapidly expanding managerial class of new residents in mind, The Coppedè District is Italy's finest example of Art Nouveau aesthetics, and an eccentric one-time furniture designer's fantasy of bespoke urban living. Whimsy, eclecticism, and a deep love of artisanal craft make this cluster of more than 30 buildings a longstanding favorite of designers and home to Romans of a certain class. This virtual tour is offered by Andrew Kranis, a professional guide and professor of architecture and urbanism in Rome.
This course will be recorded. Students will have access to the video for 30 days. REG# 387301 | INSTRUCTOR: Andrew Kranis DATE/TIME: Friday, June 24, 1-2pm REMOTE COURSE: Zoom information is emailed to students two days before the course begins.
Virtual Gallery: Sports Photography Redefined
In this one-hour program, OLLI member and photographer Rafael Beer shares some of his most memorable photos and experiences throughout his career. A student of Ansel Adams, Rafael enjoys using photographs to tell stories that lead to discussions about art and craft. While he shares his photos, Rafael will explain how equipment, lighting, framing, and printing influenced the outcome of the photograph. The collection will include his work in Sports Illustrated, and discuss a new type of sports photography he developed by breaking traditional photography rules. REG# 387571 | INSTRUCTOR: Rafael Beer DATE/TIME: Thursday, September 8, 11am-12pm REMOTE COURSE: Zoom information is emailed to students two days before the course begins.
